Yeah im not sure what to call suno and some of the others. AI isnt a good way to describe them because theres no real “intelligence” happening.

Doug Doug did a funny cast where some LLMs were the players in a very simplified DND like game. It was very funny.

Most “AI” is just a series of if/then statements and/or LLMs that try to predict the next word.

It was part of my research back in college so its crazy what companies actually say AI is. Im probably preaching to the choir around here but man it grinds my gears.

Just found the site: jollyrogertelephone.com

I swear im not getting any money from this company, I just really like the idea. I wonder how it differentiates between a “good” number and a “bad” one? ATM I just use multiple phone numbers for services so the spammers cant hit my main line.

I got a 6.0ish disk after giving them an email back in the day. I also remember the UI being easily modified. It was by far the easiest linux to get up and running with drivers for a couple of years.

I still have mine from when I was a kid. It’s great. The only issue is I can’t see it now haha. I don’t really want to mod it.

Yes and his dish washer video was awesome as well. Agreed great channel.

mesamunefire , to technology in Why is Intel failing to Nvidia and AMD?

Personally I think that a tiny bit of it is the discovery of all the security issues in the chips, making the big companies want to use their chips less or develop their own. The MINIX revelation, the security vulns, backdoors, etc just made them a terrible company for anything secretive.

No idea but don’t let your dreams be dreams. Make it and post lol

I hear you I turn off Linux devices too. Zombie power is a thing as well as software being a house of cards.

You have a very strange phone.

Did you know they still sell dot matrix printers? Wild.

Everything since then has been a mistake.

Yep, I turn off my devices when I’m done with them. I’ll restart my phone from time to time.

Most software isn’t made for patchwork while running. Sometimes even if it’s on a server lol. The stuff that is gets tested quite a bit.

I hear some body shops in LA are starting to do it. Sounds cool if it can gain some traction.

mesamunefire , to asklemmy in What's Some Tech That Was Better Than It Is Now?

Yep and with docker/other containers it’s easier to set up on new machines. Terraform and other like services also make provisioning potentially easier (depends on your setup).
