Pretty sure iron deficiency is treated with rust pills. Literally just powdered rust. And as we all know rust is just the “refined” product of iron with oxygen. That’s precedence if I ever saw it.

meco03211 ,

That was my question. Insider trading necessarily requires insider knowledge. So where’d it come from or was it just a sensationalist title?

Former republican governor for Louisiana Bobby Jindal commented on the issue saying “I could get AI to do this for me? Awesome.”

meco03211 ,

My experience has been management is too stupid to properly employ metrics. If you let them pick, they pick the easiest ones. If they don’t get a choice, they just try to cheese the numbers to the detriment of the company. If you present options that make sense, they don’t understand them.

Maybe I’ve just worked for dumb companies, but they sucked hard with respect to metrics.

meco03211 ,

Apologies if I misled you a bit. My experience is in manufacturing, not coding. My advice would be to identify issues in terms of cost. That’s what the company truly cares about. Talk to your people and find out what their biggest pain points are. Then order those issues in terms of effort to rectify vs return on investment. Problems that are low effort but high return get prioritized. Then just whittle the list down.

This takes a broader approach to metrics. But as I mentioned, metrics can be cheesed. It’s hard to cheese overall cost. If you prioritized number of bugs, I’d assume the time would go up. If you prioritized time, I’d assume bugs would go up. Prioritizing either doesn’t really solve the problem. You want the root cause of those bugs. Are certain bugs more prevalent (can bugs be categorized even?). Then work those down.

I’d be more then willing to flesh out some more details if you’d like. I genuinely love that kind of stuff. Unfortunately I don’t have coding specific experience.

Pretty sure there were slaves that actively sought to maintain slavery. In some cases, they had relatively decent lives compared to other slaves and even some free black people.

Just got libretube and piped. Youtube has lost me.

Read an interesting article that said insurance companies lose tons of money because of time changes. Animals supposedly get used to traffic being low/high at certain times of day (based on the sun cause they don’t have watches). So when the time changes, they keep their same routine and end up causing more accidents while crossing roads they are used to being empty.

Do you want downvotes? Cause that’s how you get downvotes.

Fucking degenerate probably put ketchup on it.

I’d say “fuck predatory app-based businesses”. Is there something inherently wrong with app-based businesses?

meco03211 ,

Look if the founding fathers wanted to restrict my right to bear thermonuclear arms they shoulda added an addendum to the second amendment. Those "fore"fathers didn’t have much foresight. Now let me buy plutonium.

Perhaps their understanding of feminism has come from the violently extreme “kill all men” types of feminists or the opposing “get back in the kitchen” type of conservative shitbags making up all sorts of scary and mean things about them.

meco03211 ,

Thank you. I hate that some people just cannot accept that extremists exist on “their team”. I had another post downvoted to hell when I made a similar claim and provided plenty of tweets (or whatever the fuck they’re called nowadays) and other evidence. It was met with the same “that’s not real” or worse “it’s just satire”.

Man trapped in jewelry vault overnight is freed when timer opens the chamber as scheduled (apnews.com)

NEW YORK (AP) — A man was trapped inside a steel-reinforced concrete jewelry vault in New York City overnight after firefighters had to abandon an attempt to rescue him for safety reasons. Fortunately, the vault was on a timer and opened on its own Wednesday morning, officials said.

Were they incapable of communicating with him?

meco03211 ,

One source says his BAC was 0.05%. California’s legal limit is 0.08%. That doesn’t exclude it from being a factor, just pointing out the guy wasn’t blitzed out of his mind or anything.

The part about being unclear if AP was engaged is quite suspect though, given they have been able to definitively say in other crashes whether it was on or off and even if it had been disengaged moments prior to the accident.

This continues to bring me such joy.

They flat out don’t understand how federal laws are enforced. Most of the shitty anti-welfare or anti-handout “ideas” they have would not save money. I always ask these chucklefucks if they would still support those ideas if they cost more than they saved. They can never answer that question.

meco03211 ,

I’d heard the original saying was “I could care less, but I’d have to try.” Implying it would take effort which you weren’t going to do because that’s how little you cared.

meco03211 ,

Well I could care fewer!

Interesting read though. Guess I’ll have to stop chiming in on threads like that from now on. I shall endeavor to get smug satisfaction elsewhere.

meco03211 ,

Could have meant to kill a bunch of people and go out in a blaze of “glory” then had second thoughts and just skipped to the end.

meco03211 ,

My prediction is this will stay roughly the same until a major event involving someone killing or grievously wounding a cop, claiming self defense (or defense of others) , and being acquitted of any major charges. And I don’t mean a no knock warrant situation where a good ole boy shoots at “intruders” just busting down the wrong door. I mean like a George Floyd case or a Daniel Shaver case. Something with a ridiculously over aggressive cop starting shit and losing.

House Speaker Mike Johnson Responds to New Round of Scrutiny About Black Son (www.vanityfair.com)

The story is that the kid is now 38. According to his campaign prior to running they talked and the kid requested to not be involved in the new public life.

If true that’s actually pretty big.

meco03211 ,

I definitely don’t know the whole story. I’d love to know the truth provided it didn’t invade on the privacy of someone that didn’t ask for any of this. Which would be impossible to know without invading the privacy of someone. I know time and time again I’ve been fooled when trying to give conservatives even the slightest benefit of the doubt.

My bet is he’d be too fucking arrogant and think people would genuinely call him out of admiration and he could create some viral moment showcasing how awesome he is.

meco03211 ,

But it does support the notion that the severely mentally ill or those prone to the sorts of delusions that lead to mass murder are drawn to right wing extremist ideologies. It’s why a staggeringly lopsided proportion of terrorist attacks and mass killing acts are perpetrated by the right wing extremists.

meco03211 ,

Whoa whoa whoa. We haven’t even gotten to thoughts and prayers. Then comes mental health. Last is the “it’s too soon to talk about this”. Then the cycle starts anew.

I hate this line of reasoning. I hate what advertising has become. Whatever advertising gimmicks might work on me, way more is wasted on gimmicks that at best I ignore, and at worst actively deter me from purchasing whatever they’re selling. I’m a net negative as far as advertising is concerned.

meco03211 ,

And I think that’s some of the issue that has grew to an uncontrollable mess. Advertising companies only care about getting ads in front of the most eyes. Sure some try to target specific audiences, but the terrible and predatory practices have led someone like me to actively avoid any messaging from ads. I’d hazard a guess that trying to limit advertising to people like me, might actually have a positive effect on advertising as a whole. Less wasted resources on such a disenfranchised segment that will not buy what they’re selling.

meco03211 ,

The problem is, that impression is negative. And it extends to all advertising. I’ve actually trimmed my Facebook feed down to not having any ads. It’s kinda funny looking through my feed as opposed to my wife’s that’s filled with ads as every other post.

meco03211 ,

Hence why I said whatever advertising does work on me, it’s overshadowed by how much advertising is wasted on me. I’m a net negative in the system.

meco03211 ,

Wrong. Cheapest until there is a noticeable change in quality regardless of brand name. Nice try though.

meco03211 ,

There are dozens of us! Dozens!

meco03211 ,

But I don’t specifically discuss certain ads. My comments on this post are basically my thoughts on it. I hate the way advertising has infested every aspect of life and take active measures to avoid or ignore it.

meco03211 ,

Kinda like the shitty YouTube ads that don’t mention anything identifiable in the first 5 seconds before I skip that shit. Thanks for the non-descript idyllic scene with absolutely no indication what your product is!

meco03211 ,

But what you described isn’t really an advertising gimmick. I’m aware of the pricing gimmick but how will I know what price an iPhone is of I never absorb an ad? In fact I almost ditched samsung last time I bought a phone (due to their bullshit bloatware which I consider an extension of advertising). It was only because it was the cheapest that I got another one. Advertising didn’t positively affect my choice in any way.

Alex Jones must pay $1.1 billion of Sandy Hook damages despite bankruptcy - court (www.reuters.com)

Conspiracy theorist Alex Jones cannot use his personal bankruptcy to escape paying at least $1.1 billion in defamation damages stemming from his repeated lies about the 2012 Sandy Hook elementary school massacre, a U.S. bankruptcy judge ruled Thursday.

meco03211 ,

It went even further than just sending the messages. Jones’ attorneys sending those could maybe have been a mistake. Had opposing counsel just gone and used them it could have bogged the whole process down horrifically. They’d likely appeal and fight that hard. So opposing counsel did the ethical thing and informed Jones’ attorneys multiple times seeking clarification and basically covering their own ass a bit. Jones’ attorneys didn’t respond. They could have said “that was a mistake and privileged so you can’t use them”, but they didn’t. Jones first found out in court while being cross examined. It was hilarious.

Is there an alternative to "motherfucker" that people would actually use?

The word can have swearing but not genderisation which might be offensive (mother) nor allusions to sexual dominance (motherfucker). Nor, other possibly offensive connotations. It seems that the word is commonplace and people won’t stop using it, so an alternative to the word may be useful. But the problem with alternatives,...

If that was literally their job that they are being paid to do and you were specifically using the gun to film a movie involving you pointing that gun at someone and pulling the trigger under the pretense it was cleared and verified by a professional prior to the filming, they should definitely shoulder some burden.

Arguments can be made about working conditions not being suitable causing mistakes to be made and those conditions were brought on by Baldwin, but then he should be treated almost as two separate people. If it had been a different actor to pull the trigger, would that actor be liable? Would the producer, or whatever role Baldwin had outside of acting, be liable?

meco03211 ,

As a matter of principle I will doff my headphones and look away or hyperfocus on the specific area to skip the ad waiting for it to become available.
