Material reality. People have done this before for a myriad of causes. Does it stop empire? No. Lenin never said ‘go kill yourself it totally will change everything’.

The people detracting this as ‘nothing’ are clearly so comfy in there own situations they cant imagine any action, nevermind a strong one like this having an impact.

I run a homeless shelter. Thats at least one thing you could do that is far better than killing yourself for a cause. In fact, anything is better.

Marxism isnt a orthodoxy that needs to be followed like a religion, im not going to judge the protest actions of others if it serves to protest a ongoing genocide being comitted by that persons government.

You absolutely should be against chain suicides, like any good person is.

Firstly, cool. That doesnt change anything about how much you’re smugging over a dead person rather than allowing it to inspire.

Because it shouldn’t be copied, by anyone. There were many dozens of people that did this during Vietnam, of similar ages. Did that cause America to stop? No. None of the protesting did. Military defeat at the hands of Vietnamese communists did.

‘Inspiration’ and nonsense does not make a change in the world. All it does is add another sad headline, of which there are plenty to be had.

AI actually can be very good at translating things locally while keeping tone and intent, and thats what mozilla mentions here. I’m fully down with AI powered local translation tools native to firefox, it’ll put it way above the competition

Some LLMs are low enough in resource usage to do this on weak and older PCs

youre just thinking about it wrong. get an llm going, voice to text, and have a synthesizer copy your voice. 99% of your workload is now gone, no more endless meetings, and you got notes that can be quickly summarized.

lets just hope that they dont ask you what 27 times 38 or something is. could maybe prompt it to say ‘Lets circle back around on that in an email’ whenever a complex question is asked, lmao

for real. im new to lemmy but places like hexbear seem really good for trans stuff. i hate how so many trans places are dependent upon facebook or reddit to exist. facebook itself is problematic because those fuckers already assisted a genocide in myanmar, whats to stop them from helping to massacre trans people here?

hexbear seems way more active in the trans spaces at least. its also nice seeing everyones pronouns and being able to guess what variant of transness someone is talking about when theyre describing their experiences.

im on lemmy cause i saw advice saying that you could access pretty much all the lgbt spots on the fediverse from here, which seems true. ive already seen a bunch of transphobic bullshit on this site and on blahaj so maybe ill just swap to hexbear, idk

i guess the question is more of bans and not just removals. for instance this guy lemmy.ml/comment/9833425 seems to regularly go on to write misogynistic and queerphobic screeds, but seems to not have been banned because he is a moderator and has been here for 4 years?
