I’m not the person you’re replying to but for me, I used to get random headaches and jitters and I feel more consistent now.

The problem is the withdrawal period can be hard for some. It was for me, but overall worth it in the end.

I live in a car city but I only use it to go groceries or maybe an event. I go twice a week tops.

All my friends told me I should have gotten a Tesla and that because I’m a tech guy that I’d buy a Tesla. I’m like, I don’t drive enough, so I bought a used Civic.

By the time this Civic needs to be retired, there should be plenty of affordable options for me? Or maybe I can move to a place that doesn’t require one.

Pfft, 5"7 losers.

Luckily I’m 5"6.

If you don’t let people starve. They’ll learn to be lazy and it’ll be the downfall of our society! /s

we should also get rid of the inheritance tax so I can make sure even more generations of my family will never need to work and be lazy! /s

Caffeine gives me terrible headaches that last for days. I envy you guys that are about to take advantage of it.

lobut ,

I used them in computer graphics and game programming. As a regular software dev, not so much.

I don’t see any military service here en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_Gosar is it missing or what?

Although now I found this article www.azcentral.com/story/news/…/70962006007/ where he says the joint Chiefs of staff should be hanged.

There’s not much about what features these are. I understand AI costs a lot to run and they’re at least being upfront before they enshittify. That being said, I never liked Bixby and I hated that cursed button and every time I accidentally pressed it. I also gave up on Galaxy phones after removing the headphone jack, SD card and stuff.

I would have liked a sky burial or something.

I think it’s the “economy”. We’ve set up systems where the young pay out the older people. At least that’s my uneducated understanding of the situation.

However what’s funny is that the economy under China (and most places in the world) is why people aren’t having kids now. It’s probably done more de-population than the one child policy.

I’ve bought a lot of 4K movies/TV shows on Google Movies and they’re all 480 on my browser. Support tell me they understand my frustrations and say I gotta use Safari or Edge or something and they’re like 720P or something. I’m like, oh great, thanks.

Firefox and Piracy seem more alluring to me.

Trump’s next trial: E. Jean Carroll seeks $10M in defamation case (thehill.com)

Fresh off his runaway win in the nation’s first 2024 presidential nominating contest, the next phase of former President Trump’s courtroom chronicles will begin Tuesday as a jury convenes to determine how much Trump must pay for defaming a longtime advice columnist....

Well, Jesus has raped. That must be why they endorse it? Wait, you’re telling me that’s not in the Bible? Well, I haven’t read it. Just like them.

Yeah, I go top comment(s) to see if the article is not clickbait. Then I’ll read the summary to see if it’s any good. Then I’ll go to the article itself if those check out.

Nominative Determinism strikes again!

en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nominative_determinism

Nominative determinism is the hypothesis that people tend to gravitate towards areas of work that fit their names. The term was first used in the magazine New Scientist in 1994, after the magazine’s humorous “Feedback” column noted several studies carried out by researchers with remarkably fitting surnames. These included a book on polar explorations by Daniel Snowman[1] and an article on urology by researchers named Splatt and Weedon.

Americans are so soft. You throw shade at the Europeans by making fun of their food or wine or streets or whatever. They take a shot back and you guys whine.

Take a shot back instead of flipping the table.

I’m an older millenial that identifies closer to Gen X. I think mine would be … Will Smith crying to Uncle Phil about his dad on Fresh Prince? That was pretty iconic. Wasn’t a good bye or finale one though.

Seinfeld finale was kinda bleh. I skipped Roseanne, Friends and Frazier’s finales to be honest and the fact no one references them never made me catch up. The Simpsons seemingly won’t die. I’d say Futurama but like, it keeps coming back with declining quality. I guess I can’t choose?

What would yours be?

lobut ,

Two main things I remember about that finale. Cliff ending the conversation on shoes because their topic was about shoewear. Lastly, Sam saying to the incoming patron: “we’re closed”.

I loved Cheers.

Anyone who follows the alt-right, did Joe or anyone else go ape shit over this yet? I’m assuming that because they were going crazy over the previous Twitter about certain infractions under the old guard … so this new shit must be driving them crazy. Being free speech activists and all that.

Well over a decade ago I remember a coworker would just go through the codebase and add his own coding style.

Instead of if (predicate) {

He would do if ( predicate )

I would always ask why he did it and he said, “well we don’t have any coding standards so I’m going to do it” … I replied, “there’s things like unwritten rules and sticking to whatever’s in the codebase makes it easy”. I told the seniors and they chose not to do anything (everyone just merged into trunk) and they just left him for a while.

Then he turned rewrote built-in logical functions in code like this: if (predicate || predicate) {

Into code like this: if ( or( predicate, predicate ) ) {

This was C# and there was no Prettier back then.

Also, he would private every constructor and then create a static factory method.

Eventually the seniors told him to knock it off. All I said was that I initially tried telling them weeks ahead of time and now we got a mess on our hands.

Remember these chuckleheads believe the vaccine is poison and you gotta be careful and they put this stuff into themselves. Apparently research is listening to Joe’s podcast.

lobut ,

Wait, but Joe Rogan and his chubs were saying how Musk was a genius businessman and will fix the boys problem and turn it into a free speech utopia. /s

Dumb question, I know so little about NFTs. Can more than one person mint the same URL? I think there’s nothing them from copying and pasting an image to a different URI right?

lobut ,

lol, that could be apart of that meme:

you care so little that you made a meme about it

I care so little that I don’t even know what you are talking about

We are not the same.

For other possible curious readers, the individuals that are being reference don’t exist. I had to check just for the fun of it.

Fun fact: Bobby Kotnik was in Moneyball, he played the owner that didn’t want to pony up extra crash.

I quite like Reacher, most people like The Boys, I’ve heard good things about Good Omens.

Stupid question, what’s wrong with organic?

lobut ,

I was hoping it’d go to the exoplanets like: HD 189733 b, or Kepler 11b or something :)

lobut ,

I just started (Outer Wilds) the other day. Not sure what I’m doing, lol. I died the first three times by not wearing a suit. I bought it purely on the recommendation on another Lemming (Lemmy user?) and they said just get into it and don’t look into anything else. Looking forward to just trying things on my next run.

lobut ,

You don’t like his stand-up? You don’t like to hear about almond nipples and Kim Kardashian while he’s hunched over a stool?

In all seriousness, I was so disappointed in his stand up when I was a fan. For a guy that talks to so many people about so many different topics, his stand up was so boring.

lobut ,

Yeah it’s the “media”. You have the #1 podcast in the world spreading misinformation. Unfunny fuck nugget prick Rogan.

lobut ,

Look about how serious he was talking about Biden with his anecdotes and shit and how dismissive he was of Trump. He’s a prick.

lobut , (edited )

Meh, screw Assange. Don’t want his or his visitrs rights violated though. But sincerely, fuck this Russian asset.

Is your family bilingual or multilingual? I find that I do that type of translation between languages and it gets lost in translation.

I think you have great points, but I also don’t want to absolve personal responsibility entirely. I think I saw Boogie for on the Financial Audit and spends $900 per month on fast food? There’s definitely food deserts and busy people with busy lives and bad education. Absolutely. I also find that healthier living was easier in the UK as grocery stores had ready-made meals easier to access with better options. However, I do think there’s also a component of personal accountability for those that know the right thing to do and choose not to.

lobut ,

Yeah and there’s a bit of drama around that as Jirard claimed that expenses would be handled by his parent company but seems to have expensed it to the charity, also they claim the total amount donated is still less than what they’ve taken in even after expenses.

Whatever the truth may be …

I completely understand why a gaming company just wants to not be associated with any of this.

lobut ,

I quite like Mark Kermode because he’s a film historian as well as a critic. I don’t always agree with him but every review he harkens back to the director or actor’s previous catalogue and I can get an entertaining perspective on his view.

lobut ,

I don’t watch much Completionist stuff but he really seemed like he was reading a script written by a lawyer for this “response”. As well as, looking increasing angry.

lobut ,

All of these ghouls are doing the Alex Jones thing. They’re all despicable. These things have real world consequences. They’re not actors in your make believe play.

lobut ,

All that extra money seems to be a detriment. People seem to be less empathetic and just use that money to get more money.

lobut ,

I’ve not heard of Warren Zevon of maybe I have and not yet known it. However, that was a great recount of that interview and I’m happy to have read it.

lobut ,

Haven’t heard of that phrase but it’s an apt analogy for my fellow Brits. Same with Brexit. Wasn’t till afterwards did they realize that what they voted for and were upset. Heaven forbid you listen to those warning you about it.

lobut ,

oh JS too, which kinda throws me off because I’m not bad with Web Dev, but I’m not good either and my UI looks like a bad web page than a good desktop app.

I’m actually trying to keep it simple and write my own launcher like Alfred, Albert, Kupfer but I want it to launch my own custom scripts that I can load in a directory as well.
