But they killed APIs entirely for nsfw, so that is broken now too.

But then anybody can connect to its default broadcast. Better to pair it to something you can control.

Prevention, as always, is much easier than a cure.

I concur with most of your points. Docker is a nice thing for some use cases, but if I can easily use a package or set up my own configurations, then I will do that instead of use a docker container every time. My main issues with docker:

  • Containers are not updated with the rest of the host OS
  • firewall and mounting complexities which make securing it more difficult

Any web hosting company will use Linux for all servers, and many developers will use it as their workstation as they tire of kludging together dev environments in windows. The devops engineers will most certainly be on Linux as that is where their tool chains live.

There are government agencies that use Linux exclusively. The DoD used to have a mandate to use oss. I’m not sure if it is still the case.

Scientists, HPC.

Especially now that McDonald’s has the same exact thing. They even stole the bag. And are open on Sundays.

My go-to is rofo though.

Doom is Gen X if anything. Boomers are pongers.

Not specific to your use case, but use the distro you like. Then add an account for gaming and tailor that account’s environment for running games.

That and I feel that forced diversity isn’t diversity at all.

That’s not a race/disability problem. It is a wealth problem.

Android 14 has finally made using my Pebble with the phone a bad option. I’m happy with the Garmin that I replaced it with.

why does ubuntu use a different version of gnome??

ok first of all, happy holidays or christmas to everyone!! happy debian day! but anyway i just wanted to ask something, why does ubuntu use its own version of gnome?? (taskbar in desktop, material colors, etc) i know that even distros like pop os! or fedora use vanilla gnome so why would canonical change the settings of gnome??...

You can easily pipeline simple things to do more complex things. That’s the point of written language.

Profit > Security. These companies don’t care so long as the consequences don’t affect profit significantly enough. Infosec is always an afterthought, if considered at all.

Hopefully somebody can set up some CTF servers for him in the hospital. Taking away his ‘one thing’ forever seems inhumane to me.

Switched from Manjaro to Fedora after being told Manjaro is "a bad distro" by many. Looking for a telnet terminal such as Syncterm to run on rpm or flatpak. (lemmy.zip)

Welp, I made a similar thread yesterday regarding Manjaro but I decided to swap to Fedora as my daily driver for stability purposes. Unfortunately since fedora is yet another non Debian distro I need help finding a Syncterm replacement....

usenet and irc were ‘the fediverse’ before it became trendy.

Preach! My first experience with Usenet was rexx scripts on a mainframe using tn3270. Same with all of the ftp sites. Remember fingering id software?

Also, you can post to nntp via email.

I remember stitching multipart uuencoded files together by hand, lol. Then when OS/2 2.0 came out, IBM fully embraced the Internet of the time and had the best Usenet client that would gasp do all of that automatically and display the image or save the binary file you were after. WebEx was also the best web browser until Netscape took over.
