hormones? the body has many magic chemicals.

I have a couple of these and like them: www.amazon.com/…/B0759V6FZC

I think it’s because it’s an unapologetic vertical mouse. Most others are just slanted mice. Note that the furst couple days might be slow because you have to adjust to using your arm that way. I got this one in uni because my wrist just didn’t like being flat, and I used computers a lot. This one matches my resting position really well, and the wrist rest means I’m not sliding the side of my hand all over the desk.

ironeagl ,

I think the one exception is their money, you definitely need some basic math to use it.

ironeagl ,

On the contrary, there is a lot of professional software that doesn’t run on Windows!

… battery heaters and block heaters are a thing for ICE too though?

Is It Worth The Time? XKCD 1205 updated for open source and shared tools. (lemmy.world)

People often ask why I contribute to open source projects or otherwise work on building automated tooling. They see me spending hours to automate a task or fix a bug that take seconds to do or avoid manually, in a way that the original XKCD comic says won’t pay off. The disconnect seems to be that the comic and those people...

ironeagl ,

FYI: there is actually an XKCD font if you want to match the original more closely. github.com/ipython/xkcd-font

It takes a while to gather the data, new areas all the time.

ironeagl ,

If that’s so, where are the nuclear doms?

ironeagl ,

No, the plant is full of primary batteries! 4.2 million AA cells!

ironeagl ,

I’m kinda suprised why being a pastor is relevant at all?

ironeagl ,

Might be worth regreasing it, iFixIt has some good guides on that.

ironeagl ,

I mean Japan it this way with USA / Korea, and China probably as well? USA doesn’t really learn Asian history enough to get the backstory.

ironeagl ,

It would be even better if these were shell that were originally sold by russia/USSR to North Korea.

Ending support for Windows 10 could send 240 million computers to the landfill. Why not install Linux on them? (gadgettendency.com)

With support ending for Windows 10, the most popular desktop operating system in the world currently, possibly 240 million pcs may be sent to the landfill. This is mostly due to Windows 11’s exorbitant requirements. This will most likely result in many pcs being immediately outdated, and prone to viruses. GNU/Linux may be...

ironeagl ,

Why not try it now?

ironeagl ,

Could be some software that is no longer supported.

ironeagl ,

My though was their preferred stenography keyboard was made by a company that is now defunct, ergo no updates. Possibly could be overcome with techy means, but I’m guessing the stenographer doesn’t have those.

ironeagl ,

I also have issues with Discord, they just don’t get the linux paradigm. Running it in a browser seems to work okay though (I use Firefox).

ironeagl ,

The cheapest plan is .10 euro a month per page if you only print 10 pages. (.99 euro, max 10 pages). Just pay a library or kinkos at that point!

ironeagl ,

No, you get billed X euro per month, which gives you the “right” to print up to X pages each month. Even worse.

ironeagl ,

Heads up! Jellyfin is a great alternative!

ironeagl ,

Can you browse web on your tv? That would work.

ironeagl ,

Oh, I meant browse to the webpage like you would on a computer. Is there not a browser available? I’ve only got dumb tvs, so sorry I can’t be of more help.

YSK that chiropractors are not medical doctors and "Systematic reviews... have found no evidence that chiropractic manipulation is effective" (en.wikipedia.org)

“Systematic reviews of controlled clinical studies of treatments used by chiropractors have found no evidence that chiropractic manipulation is effective, with the possible exception of treatment for back pain.[8] A 2011 critical evaluation of 45 systematic reviews concluded that the data included in the study “fail[ed] to...

Right? I feel like that is 90% of the reason to get it.

Fake HDMI cable crackdown - Taiwanese police raid suppliers of counterfeit HDMI cables, seize $2.6 million in knockoffs in a single day::Police in Taiwan have cracked down on counterfeit HDMI cable sales, raiding online sellers across the island.

Well, the article would seem to add one more giant upside for Jellyfin.

Chart seems about right, road wear scales to the 4th power of weight per axle.

Commercial Flights Are Experiencing 'Unthinkable' GPS Attacks and Nobody Knows What to Do (www.vice.com)

Commercial Flights Are Experiencing ‘Unthinkable’ GPS Attacks and Nobody Knows What to Do::New “spoofing” attacks resulting in total navigation failure have been occurring above the Middle East for months, which is “highly significant” for airline safety.

ironeagl ,

The GPS chips have internal limits on how fast they think they can move. If they determine that they are moving faster than 300m/s they will stop outputting any results for a period of time. This limit is, IIRC, put in at the silicon level, so only military chips can bypass it.

If you try to use mapping apps on a plane you sometimes run into this issue.

ironeagl ,

Maybe a misapplication then. I’ve run into it with model rocketry before (for good reason)

ironeagl ,

Turns out it’s 1000 knots (~600m/s), or 18,000 feet. So it’s the altitude in this case. But a slow-moving drone at <18,000ft is fine.

ironeagl ,

Anodized aluminum is porous, that’s how the dye stays attached. Also aluminum is not recommended for use with acidic foods. I would personally avoid it.

ironeagl ,

The barrier to acids comes from oxidizing the surface, which anodizing does. But pores do not exist in bare aluminum, and hard anodize actually has the biggest pores! There is technically a sealer on the surface, but sticking it in hot water can sometimes release it, depending on what sealer was used. Here’s an article with more info: lightmetalage.com/…/introduction-to-anodizing-alu…

ironeagl ,

Can you give me an example? Calphalon for instance have “hard-anodized nonstick” but they’re still teflon. Anodizing is actually how teflon is usually made - the anodizing makes a porous surface that the teflon can stick to. So you’right that the sealer is different, it’s just teflon.

ironeagl ,

Correct, hard anodized does not equal Teflon. But point me to a link selling just a hard anodized pan. If you search “hard anodized cookware” the top links are all hard anodized + teflon (“nonstick”). Tfal, Calphalon, Cuisinart…

ironeagl ,

They all seem to be ceramic-coated. So. When will you admit that hard-anodized is porus, requires a coating, and the coating can still be teflon? “Hard Anodized” is a useless keyword.

ironeagl ,

And I’ll guess I’ll stop arguing with soneone who can’t count, Bonehead.

ironeagl ,

I think you’re thinking of the Amish.
