Just use the 1.1.1.1 app, or on your computer (or router) change the DNS to 1.1.1.1

Indonesia is soft blocking via DNS only, very easy to bypass.

What report?

Edit: https://purl.stanford.edu/vb515nd6874

Somehow the link in the post is broken. Trying to share it copies the link. Weird.

godless ,
@godless@latte.isnot.coffee avatar

Because it's talking about a report without linking to any report. That's shouting into the void at best, clickbait at worst.

Reminds me of the movie "I origins" (the maternity ward part). If you haven't seen it, it's one of my all time favorites - and better to be watched without knowing what it's all about, too easy to spoiler.

godless ,
@godless@latte.isnot.coffee avatar

On mobile I'd suggest Fennec instead of stock Firefox since you can use add-ons without limitation, and don't need workarounds such as the Firefox nightly.

It's basically stock with enabled add-ons, and following the official release cycle with 2-3 days delay. Maintained by the original developers of the F-Droid store, so also a highly trustworthy source IMHO.

18+ What do you think as a CF

Often I wonder why I, being child free, should not have fun with all the things that are generally considered wrong. Like watching obscene movies, having sex and drinking alcohol. Since I don’t want to have kids or get married, I think you’ll think I’m crazy with my post. What do you think about living such a life?

godless ,
@godless@latte.isnot.coffee avatar

I mean... Do whatever makes you happy?

And you can do all of that being married and with kids. Lifestyles aren't mutually exclusive.

A design patent & matching trademark should do. Can't protect the word mark, but as far as I understood, the name Twitter remains unchanged.

That was news 10 years ago. And Twitter fixed it within a few days.

Help Please: I've installed a fair amount of Mac cracks but not much on Windows: what do I do with a file that says "login" with "application" being its type?

Got the program installed and moved a dll file to where I believe it goes but am still getting asked to login, which when I click it, takes me to their site and doesn’t ask me about using an offline installation method. Someone suggested I change the “login” files name to “application” and try again and it’s still...

godless ,
@godless@latte.isnot.coffee avatar

There must be some kind of .nfo file in the installation or crack folder containing every step you need to get the software installed and running.

Libgen has everything. Just set the search to "fiction" and select by author.

The "...In Death" series she published under the pseudonym JD Robb used to be on piratebay with a continuously updated archive, that were 70+ books already back when I read them. No clue if it's still being seeded/updated though.

godless ,
@godless@latte.isnot.coffee avatar

If you have a library card, you can access the archive online from here:

Apparently as a Wisconsin resident you can select "login with zip code", but that fails for me (don't live there and my vpn doesn't have an endpoint there either, so might be an issue on my end).

Every domain is paid. But if you bought it from an authorized reseller who's authorization is revoked, you're still screwed. Mali is the true owner of all registered domains in its country.

not seeing any non negligible difference between 60 and 120 Hz, am I weird?

Just got a new phone (OnePlus Nord 3), turned refresh rate HUD in developer settings and I see some parts of the system and some apps display 120 Hz but I have problem noticing any difference, same with my wife’s Redmi Note 12, i have to look very carefully and maaaybe I notice some different, not sure

godless ,
@godless@latte.isnot.coffee avatar

Did to test it with some 4k movies or games with a refresh rate above 60hz?

With lower res movies, games, photos and static UI, you can't spot it anyway.

Got a MiBand as well. Had the first one, then the 3, and now I believe the 5 or 6.

Only replaced them because new wristbands were hard to come by after 2 years respectively, the battery was still going strong.

Now I've bought 10 straps right from the start and am only on number 4, another 2 years in. Let's see if I can beat the battery this time.

VPN blocked, how can i tunnel my VPS to home network?

I live in a country where wireguard, openvpn and other vpn protocols have been blocked. Tailscale and Cloudflare Tunnels don’t wok either. I do have a public ip and my router supports DMZ and port forwarding. For security concerns I’m not willing to forward ports. Is there any other method to use my VPS to forward traffic to...

godless ,
@godless@latte.isnot.coffee avatar

Express has been shit since forever.

I'm assuming you're in China? Astrill is using a proprietary vpn protocol and hardly ever has downtimes (use the stealth mode or install it on the router directly).

Most are young men without college degrees who make less than $1 per delivery.

Make that per hour. The average delivery here is just about 20-30 RMB ($3.5 or so), they absolutely don't get 33% commission. And tips don't exist in China.

Sometimes I feel like going full on kilt, but those things are quite thick, all things considered. Might help to aerate the crown jewels, but I'm not too sure if the overall experience wouldn't still be on the warm side.

godless ,

I like wool, no problem with that. Was just of the opinion that kilts are made from actual felt, and so dense that there's hardly any air movement coming through.

SSL certificates for IP addresses are possible; but they require you to outright own the IP(-range). Some large organizations do. So for individuals it's rather unheard of, but it's technically achievable.

https://sectigostore.com/page/ssl-certificate-for-ip-address/

godless ,
@godless@latte.isnot.coffee avatar

but what does “control” the IP mean

I believe that means you must be registered as the owner with the RIPE or whichever authority is in charge of administrating IP ranges, so that would also negate the point of chaining IP addresses, since that would indeed be a permanent fixture.

For AWS it should then only work if Amazon Inc. is the applicant for the SSL cert., not merely a user. So it's a quite theoretical application at best.

godless ,
@godless@latte.isnot.coffee avatar

Agree. When my DVD player back in 2000 came with a bright blue power-on LED, that crap started to bother me. Sitting right under the TV, so watching anything in a darkened room means I had that fucker blinding me all the time. Nothing a little duct tape can't fix, but that's not exactly helping.

Ever since I've been actively avoiding devices where I can't dim & disable the LEDs.

What's the best open hardware cheap DIY NAS to toss on a router like OpenWRT?

I was thinking it would be nice to have for backups, but maybe even going as far as mounting ~/home to be able to run from multiple machines. I’m really asking where to get started looking without crashing into marketing department nonsense and search engine steering bias.

godless ,
@godless@latte.isnot.coffee avatar

With Merlin (another open-wrt variant specifically for Asus routers) you can simply connect a hard drive via USB and then enable it as either FTP or SMB storage (even simultaneously).

In windows you can mount the ftp volume as a local drive, from mobile I use X-plore file manager (also via ftp), and on my Nvidia Shield I can mount it via smb and watch movies directly. 4k 10bit, no problem.

Mobile access screenshot: https://imgur.com/a/0ElHYbU

I'm using the Asus RT-AX88U with whatever Merlin firmware is current, but it's been working ever since, and straight out of the box. Other than activating the function and setting passwords, I really didn't do anything.

The cracked Sync app is going strong. They patched reddit official's api key into the apk, and also modified the app ID and browser agent to reflect the official one. They practically can't tell the traffic apart, so NSFW and everything is fully functional.

https://github.com/Liz-chan/sink-for-everyone/releases/

This has been discussed in the official reddit sync discord and the original dev, being the champ he is, even contributed to it.

Sync for Lemmy is also on the way. I never used Boost so can't tell how it compares to Sync, but I used it for >12 years and was always super happy.

Might as well plug the new /c/[email protected] here, I guess.

Friend of mine cracked the Apollo app and sideloaded it. So that's possible. Sharing from what he told me (and please don't ask me any questions, I've never used an iOS device in my life):

It's a bit complex, you need this: https://theos.dev/ to compile this into a .deb: https://github.com/EthanArbuckle/Apollo-CustomApiCredentials/

You also need this IPA: https://github.com/Barusu-rem/apollo-decrypt-legacy-version/releases/tag/production

Then sideloadly, put it all together and install with a dev cert like the image attached

Cancer is just cells reverting back to their original evolution before multi cellulars existed.

Edit: I think I hit a lot of nerve on some people but here is my thinking, a cancer acts like a single cell because the very first cell stops functioning with the benefit of the host it’s more into itself. Some cancer will live outside the body can be cut and still multiply ain’t that a behavior of a single cell? E.g....

Yeah I saw the list posted somewhere, had a chuckle, and went on my merry way. There's a reason this kraken of an app is banned in the EU.

A somewhat tech savvy user can probably use App Ops and Storage Isolation to restrict all of the data and spoof the rest, but luckily I don't even feel tempted. Never got the appeal of Twitter, can't be bothered to even try Mastodon, and Threads, just no.

Right, I see it there. By the way I notice you're using the linkswitcher tampermonkey script, have you noticed it slowing down your browser? I was searching for something yesterday and opened like 30 tabs to review one after another, and my browser was getting laggy as hell. 70% CPU usage and >8GB of RAM. Figured out that it was the script that basically indexed all tabs for potential lemmy links, and I had to kill it in order to get a useful browser again.
