And it’s not even like Argentina provides some utility like Turkey does by being so close to Russia and controlling the black sea. Argentina has no real strategic value, has an absolutely dogshit military and is more likely to go to war with a NATO country (again) then do anything to defend one.

This is just a small part of the total costs for building This facility, which is going to be absolutely massive, and the vast majority of the money is coming from the private sector. In return the US gets and incredibly important resource that makes it less dependant of countries in East Asia that are either hostile to them or are at risk of having their facilities disobeyed by those that are.

That alone is worth fare more than 6bn, and doesn’t even begin to mention the economic benefits of such an endeavour.

$1.4 mil is probably not enough for someone to retire unless they were only a decade away from retirement anyway. And let’s say one of these workers has a 30 year career at this factory that’s only $46k/year, which isn’t a lot, especially for a skilled worker. So if we assume and average wage for these jobs is $80k (probably an underestimate) then that’s only 17.5 years before Samsung pays put more to employees than it got from the government, and realistically these factories will be operating for many decades if all goes well.

And that’s ignoring both the construction jobs and the downstream jobs that would be needed to support 4.5k workers. As well as the money the government will make back on various taxes from both income and manufacturing and savings from procuring chips locally instead of shipping them.

And also massively ignoring the importance of domestic chip manufacturing which given the current state of things and potential future conflict could legitimately be the difference between that stops NATO losing a war with China. Which is the main thing this project is about and is worth so so so much more than 6bn

Also sidenote: my favourite idea about time travel is that time travel is entirely possible, but will never be invented, because the timeline where its not invented is the only stable timeline. Because any timeline where it IS invented gets changed as soon as you use it, meaning the timeline changes over and over again every time time travel is invented repeatedly either infinitely or until someone accidentally creates a timeline where its never invented, only then does the timeline stop changing and we can actually experience it. So because we exist and can experience time, we can deduce that we will never invent time travel.

This has been a thing in the UK where self contained toilets are quite common and the transphobes just make up some shit about how if they let men in use the same ones as women, then they can sneak hidden cameras in there. Communism as first described by Marx and then later expanded upon by other theorists is merely the inevitable outcome of a global society that has overcome scarcity, moved away from late stage capitalism and values things like workers rights, equality and standards of living.

The biggest divide between communists is usually how we get to that end state. Do you try to ignite a global violent revolution against capitalism, seize the means of production by force and then use dictatorial power to try and force society towards it, like the Soviets did? Or should we make incremental changes over time though existing Democratic channels like democratic socialists? Or do you seize the power for yourself, run the country like a monarchy and claim you’ve achieved communism?

Again, literally nobody is saying you should trim bits of chicken off, just that you should know how much you’re eating so you can track calories and macro nutrients. Which is super easy especially if you’re already weighing out carbs or other food.
