There are simply some communities I can’t find on Lemmy. For example, I use subreddits based on admissions to specific colleges that would never be able to function on Lemmy due to its size. I’d much prefer to abandon Reddit altogether but the information I need is usually only there.

I don’t think I could do that, I would be compelled to comment. But I do still see Reddit in search results for problems I’m researching and the answers are often useful. I will be happy the first time I see a Lemmy result.

I have another in mind but haven’t tried it. If they leave their phone unattended, take a picture of their phone sitting there. Then later on text them the photo and say “You left your phone (wherever)” You will get them to view the photo of their phone on their phone and if you’re lucky they will go looking for it when they already have it.

Wow. Been using Android since like version 2 but never knew you could double press the power button to turn the camera on. If screen is off have to press once to turn screen on first.

IIRC on iOS there is a camera icon on the lock screen.

How does that work though? The cookies are presumably based on things like your IP and browser metrics, which a site gets from your browser. If your browser throws away the cookies then on your next visit you aren’t volunteering that you’ve been there before. But the site can still likely figure it out, but without the cookies it isn’t as certain. With well-constructed cookies they can be almost 100% sure you’re the same visitor.

I love the Roku remote and interface. But I have a Google TV and even though I’m sure it’s sending my viewing habits to Google it’s also basically and Android device so you can do many more things with it than a Roku. You can’t install anything on a Roku that Roku doesn’t specifically authorize.

I’m an Elite Dangerous veteran and have no problem with that. I think it’s more realistic.

I’m about 18 hours in and the illusion of variety hasn’t worn off yet. Plenty of things to find, with some travel time though. Unlock/upgrade your backpack boosters and it’s almost like Tribes though, as you go flying across the landscape in short bursts to keep moving forward in the air.
