Anyone have a favorite iOS app for listening to MP3s of audiobooks?

Mostly what it needs is the ability to save my place when I close the app. Bookmarks would be a bonus but aren't necessary.

@hollie @audiobooks I use the Books app or the Music app.... It's been a while, but IIRC the Books app does remember where you last left off, and I think it remembers across devices. I could doublecheck tomorrow if you want.

My heart aches for the children who will no longer have access to their local library because some arrogant assholes decided to be offended by books with new ideas and different perspectives.

The cruelty is the point.

One of my students is no longer my student. She is now a Dr. It always gives me goosebumps to call them "Doctor" for the first time

@bud_t @academicchatter That's got to be a proud and rewarding moment! Seeing the light come on over a student's head and their appreciation for understanding was always the most rewarding thing for me when I was an instructor. That always stayed with me much longer then the bad pay and made it worth it.

@dailymedievaldeath @medievodons Nice effigy. The wires along the side of his head are very intriguing. Makes me want to study the rest of his armor/clothing... I blame Dr. Toby Capwell. 😁

People here on Mastodon have helped me so much. I wasn't good at masking and have been rejected so often.

I was a poker dealer for 25 years (Texas holdem) and that meant looking at the center of the table and watching everyone peripherally instead of making direct eye contact.

I got to old to continue and have a new job. I am on my second company in 2 years. I was going to quit from the first company but decided to try this one. I work in groups of teams on projects that can be resolved within a week. Or at least my portion of it. I have tried to check out books on making small talk and having conversations and there are not many out there. I have tried to ask people about themselves but I just fail. I talk to them when they are texting or I make too much eye contact. Blah blah.

My point is in following along I have learned to watch what other people do and copy them. If everyone is texting I pretend I am too. I am trying to limit my eye contact I was forced to learn.

@Adventurer @actuallyautistic I've done the staring thing sometimes too in the past and people can find it unnerving. I remember reading that musician Gary Numan does this as well and his solution has been that his wife monitors him and give him a subtle signal when he's doing it, so that he realizes it... Good luck. I've gotten pretty good at small talk over the years but it didn't always come naturally. Recognizing these things is at least half the battle!
