That was “earlier this summer”. There was a lot of chatter about it here and I assume on other more left learning corners of social media, but it really only started hitting the traditional news outlets in the last month or so.

Is it really a criticism though? There’s nothing of merit to it. I could see criticizing the pick based on Walz’s views (though I’d probably argue against that too; Walz has a pretty stellar record).

He’s basically the same age as Harris, so the “old” portion of the criticism is right out the window. What we’re left with is that he’s a white man, which is always what the VP pick was going to be. The unfortunate truth in this country is that a lot of voters are not ready to support a presidential ticket with two women or people of color.

While I agree, steering someone looking at a Tesla to replace a Benz towards one feels off. Subaru currently doesn’t have anything that I’d put in the performance luxury category that most Benz’s fall into (and that Tesla is trying to go for). Closest you can get in that is the current WRX, and it’s not even close to that. I say all of this as someone that loves his WRB STi hatch and plans on trying to keep it going until I die.

This got started when he went after Berkeley as the candidate for governor of California, then became worse when he was governor, then other governors copied his playbook, then laws were enacted to roll it nationwide, then got worse when he became president. Prior to Reagan becoming governor of California all state universities were free for residents in California. Reagan hated this because it led to poor minorities being able to get an education, and he hated nothing more than he hated poor minorities.
