I tried a (pre-color) game boy game ROM and the colors are all messed up and they aren’t consistent across a screen. What did I do wrong?

clay_pidgin ,

True, and yet that doesn’t mean he didn’t kill two people. I’ve read about this standoff - awful.

clay_pidgin ,

It certainly wouldn’t be the first time someone was framed. Roger Rabbit comes to mind.

I cannot make any post/comment containing the string [slash]etc[slash]passwd on lemmy.world (lemmy.world)

When I try to submit a post or comment containing the string [slash]etc[slash] passwd, the submit button goes into a loading state and spins indefinitely. The request is blocked by Cloudflare with status code 403. I can’t even search for the forbidden string. You have to check dev tools to find out what went wrong, this error...

I’m still not certain how to link communities.

clay_pidgin ,

That would be neat. Thanks, chief.

clay_pidgin ,

Maybe you have the main poster blocked? I see dozens of posts.

clay_pidgin ,

For when you’re feeling “not so fresh” down there.

clay_pidgin ,

Woah, I don’t remember it looking like dog ass!

clay_pidgin ,

“Kemet” is one way to write “Egypt” in ancient Egyptian. The transliteration doesn’t have vowels so the Es are guesses. The neo-pagan religion themed on ancient Egypt is called “Kemetic Orthodoxy”.

clay_pidgin ,

It does! I’d watch that.

clay_pidgin ,

Not that far, to the best of my knowledge. It’s basically Egypt-themed Wicca, I think.

clay_pidgin ,

I’ve never heard of insects having a smell, other than like stinkbugs!

clay_pidgin ,

I’ve never actually smelled a stinkbug, now that I think of it. I catch and release by hand for my house without issue. Never noticed a ladybug smell either. Interesting!

clay_pidgin ,

Ken Ham from the Ark Encounter and Creation “museums”. He’s a special one, that Ken.

clay_pidgin ,

We’re all young Earth creationists on this blessed day!

clay_pidgin ,

I’m so cheesed off that the John Carter didn’t perform well. It was pretty good and they’re really interesting/fun books.

clay_pidgin ,

I read mostly old sci-fi, so I can manage colonialist, racist, and misogynist stuff and enjoy the story around it!

clay_pidgin ,

That’s extremely interesting, thank you for sharing it!

clay_pidgin ,

They seemed like good quality and great designs, but I could never swing $30-50 for a glorified Micromachine to put on my shelf. I’m jelly of people who have them, though!

Self-hosted website for posting web novel/fiction

Hey hello, self-hosting noob here. I just want to know if anyone would know a good way to host my writing. Something akin to those webcomic sites, except for writing. Multiple stories with their own “sections” (?) and a chapter selection for each. Maybe a home page or profile page to just briefly detail myself or whatever, I...

clay_pidgin ,

It sounds like you want a blog that lets you categorize or tag your entries to keep them together.

clay_pidgin ,

You do! Duncan Lawrence (Netherlands - Arcade) Rosa Lynn (Ireland - Snap) and Måneskin (Italy - cover of Beggin’) are in regular play in the US.

Those are from the last two or three years. Remember that many songs are in their native language, so they’re not likely to hit over in the Anglophone world.

Historically you can’t ignore Celine Dion and Abba.

clay_pidgin ,

It’s got Kärjää energy and I love it.

clay_pidgin ,

Windows95Man is Finland. Netherlands sent Joost Klein - Europapa.

It seems the Målmo police are involved, rumors of an incident between Klein and the production staff?

clay_pidgin ,

Israel’s contestant was asked a hard question and she was told she didn’t have to answer it. I read that someone from the Dutch team shouted “why not?” But I’m not clear if that was Klein or someone else. If that what you’re referring to? The reporting has been all over the place.

clay_pidgin ,

I have seen this too, but there’s not much detail. (I’m not saying he didn’t do it, I’m saying I don’t know what he is accused of having done!)

clay_pidgin ,

“serendipitously” my ass, the contest was rigged. Loreen was a previous winner, got extra setup time and props, and the jury voting was extremely skewed. EBU wanted to take advantage of the 50th anniversary of ABBA. Finland was robbed - the crowd favorite by far!

clay_pidgin ,

There have been lots of cheating scandals, but usually it’s broadcasters collaborating on a voting scheme or contestants using the pre-recorded backup vocals to cover their poor live performances.

clay_pidgin ,

I think it counts as a notification. Under settings, notifications, whatever app you’re listening to, see if youcan turn them back on.

clay_pidgin ,

Is this just a joke?

clay_pidgin ,

This is the last flight of an Atlas V, too. Kind of odd to launch Starliner on this when they’re going to need to start testing over for the replacement rocket - Vulcan Centaur.

clay_pidgin ,

Ah. Well they were designed by Lockmart and have had only one major failure AFAIK, so the rocket party is probably fine. Ought to check the door seals on the capsule, though.

clay_pidgin ,

That’s a good point.

clay_pidgin ,

I get Consumer Reports free through my library. You may too!

It’s a platform for playing and creating video games. The stated intent was for kids to make games for kids, but as soon as game creators could make real money from it, professional devs took over. The in game currency is called robux, and it seems like every game is littered with buttons to get a higher jump or faster car or whatever for a few dollars’ worth.

Because young kids are not savvy consumers, the platform is chock full of identical games with the same name and logo hoping to steal players stay from whichever game is on trend at the moment.

There are certainly some games in there worth playing, but it’s a very small minority.

clay_pidgin ,

Ohh, I see now how it could have been misread. Good eye, friend. I thought desmostenes was just a butt weasel.

clay_pidgin ,

I followed the devs to Vivaldi and I’ve been very happy.

How should I change my polite behavior to be more accommodating?

My parents raised me to always say “yes sir” and “no ma’am”, and I automatically say it to service workers and just about anyone with whom I’m not close that I interact with. I noticed recently that I had misgendered a cashier when saying something like “no thank you, ma’am” based on their appearing AFAB, but...

clay_pidgin OP ,

That would be my ideal outcome. I haven’t seen a neo-pronoun type of thing for this situation, sadly. It’s tough to impose new rules on a language via fiat anyway, so it probably wouldn’t catch on.

clay_pidgin OP ,

These are amazing. I’ve only heard a few of them before!

clay_pidgin OP ,

Awesome.

clay_pidgin OP ,

I speak some German and Spanish with the formal You (Sie and Usted) and it’s handy but adds complication as a learner.

clay_pidgin OP ,

That IS pretty good…

clay_pidgin OP ,

Believe it, sister!
