I personally love potato salad but I think the biggest thing that hurts its reputation is when it’s bad IT’S BAD!

Starkstruck ,

This actually makes me sick. People on average are fatter than they used to be AND THAT’S NOT A GOOD THING! Do people really want to let the corpos win by shoveling slop in our mouths without care to the effects on our health?

I get that it’s hard to lose weight, and not feasible for everyone atm, but it’s not something to celebrate.

Starkstruck ,

It’s absolutely phenomenal for gaming or vr “experiences” (basically movies made specifically for vr). But the corpos are really hellbent on making everyone use it for meetings for some fucking reason. Which is truly the lamest, most unnecessary use of this tech.

Starkstruck ,

I think they mean multi-level marketing scheme, not men loving men

Starkstruck ,

I think one of the big things is the MAGA voters vote for Trump and ONLY Trump. They don’t turn out for elections without him in it. The Republicans know that without the MAGAs, they’re not gonna win the presidential election.

Also this is purely theory but I wouldn’t be surprised if Russia gives Trump information he can blackmail Republicans with. I’m sure Russian honeypots have dug up a lot of stuff over the years.

Makes me think they have poop and fart fetishes

A PR disaster: Microsoft has lost trust with its users, and Windows Recall is the straw that broke the camel's back (www.windowscentral.com)

It’s a nightmare scenario for Microsoft. The headlining feature of its new Copilot+ PC initiative, which is supposed to drive millions of PC sales over the next couple of years, is under significant fire for being what many say is a major breach of privacy and security on Windows. That feature in question is Windows Recall, a...

Starkstruck ,

They do care about keeping their company secrets and proprietary info though. Recall could make corporate espionage a cake walk.

Starkstruck ,

Unless it can literally do all the cooking and clean the dishes, it ain’t worth it. I saw a video of one of these robot “chefs” where you had to preportion all the food into it, and then spend ages cleaning it out. At that point just make your own damn food.

Starkstruck ,

I don’t even have balls yet I felt some sort of phantom pain reading this.

Starkstruck ,

Basically their stuff is good for running AI, and investors are frothing at the mouth for anything with the word AI in it rn.

Starkstruck ,

Racists are getting way too emboldened

Starkstruck ,

I did k12 for high school. Not to say the company doesn’t have any issues (every company does), but my experience was good. I graduated with honors and had a much better time than the one year I did in a brick and mortar high school.

Starkstruck ,

From what I’ve seen, pretty much everyone from techies to the tech illiterate HATES AI Implementations. Yet corporations keep trying to shovel it down our throats. When are they going to admit no one wants this?

Starkstruck ,

Pay for the PRIVILEGE of not drinking contaminated water!

Starkstruck ,

Not nesssicarily, but the “filtered” part of the premium water seems to imply that you have to pay to get cleaner water.

Starkstruck ,

Rural areas would benefit so much from progressive policies, but so many of them would rather make life hell for the “bad people” than actually improve their own life. I don’t understand how people can be so hateful, and frankly I’m glad I don’t.

Texas Supreme Court rejects challenge to state's abortion law over medical exceptions (apnews.com)

The Texas Supreme Court on Friday rejected a closely watched challenge to the state’s restrictive abortion ban, ruling against a group of women who had serious pregnancy complications and became the first in the U.S. to testify in court about being denied abortions since Roe v. Wade was overturned....

Starkstruck ,

I wonder what Texas will do when all the doctors leave to work in states that won’t arrest them for saving lives.

Starkstruck ,

Is this not an inherently racist opinion? And not all Israelis support their government’s actions. Let’s not stoop to the same level as bigots on any side.

Starkstruck ,

Yeah what these people need is real help, not delusions that writing the magic words will make all your monetary and legal issues go away. But when you’ve lost everything, you have nothing to lose. So you might as well try being a SovCit.

Starkstruck ,

One could argue the US basically is owned by corporations nowadays through bribery and lobbying, but I don’t think that’s quite what he means lol.

Men with 'toxic masculinity' are more likely to make sexual advances without consent, study finds (phys.org)

A team of researchers, including Binghamton psychology professor Richard Mattson and graduate student Michael Shaw asked men between the ages of 18–25 to respond to hypothetical sexual hookup situations in which a woman responds passively to a sexual advance, meaning the woman does not express any overt verbal or behavioral...

Starkstruck ,

Even if it’s obvious, it’s still good to have data to back these things up.

Starkstruck ,

Which makes no fucking sense since conservatives just make those issues worse.

Starkstruck ,

If the pickle was in a jar the whole time, where tf would it get rock required for fossilization? Cause I remember learning fossilization is basically just bits of the original material bit by bit being replaced by rock particles from the surrounding area.

Starkstruck ,

I think it’s safe to assume the op from 4chan was being weird to them.

Starkstruck ,

I legitimately can’t stop laughing at this omg

Starkstruck ,

I think most humans aren’t like that, it’s just that the ones that are have managed to structure society to reward their behavior. We need to get these vile, greed driven ghouls, out of positions of power to get anywhere.

Starkstruck ,

Yeah. Like the old adage of whoever seeks power is least deserving of it. It’s a difficult thing to combat.

Starkstruck ,

I used to be so excited for self driving cars, but my naive younger self assumed they’d actually make sure they’re safe before putting them on public roads.

I was wrong.

Starkstruck ,

That’s hardly the only industry this happens in.

Starkstruck ,

Why the fuck would anyone ever agree to this?

Starkstruck ,

It’s basically just you talking to yourself but without actually speaking.

Starkstruck ,

Wolf def the safest option. Most likely to leave you alone.

Starkstruck ,

So it doesn’t feel threatened and try attacking me. I thought that was fairly obvious.

Starkstruck ,

How she went from one of the most beloved authors of all time to this will never cease to amaze me.

Starkstruck ,

Oh I’ve no doubt that she’s always harbored these views. More that if she’d just kept her mouth shut, she’d still be mostly adored. Like there’d still be some people looking at her with a critical lens, but most wouldn’t care.

Basically, she’s a bigot, and an idiot.

Starkstruck ,

Oh god have had people try this exact thing with me before.

Starkstruck ,

Alas, modern corporations are a fucking mad house, where sometimes not even the most profitable solution gets chosen cause ‘risk’ or whatever.

Starkstruck ,

It’s almost like any new technology starts out with problems that get solved through time, money, and resources.

Starkstruck ,

I understand wanting to share pictures of your trip and stuff, but if it’s such a compulsive need you wouldn’t be able to not do it, you’ve got issues.

[Serious] Why do so many people seem to hate veganism?

Seen a lot of posts on Lemmy with vegan-adjacent sentiments but the comments are typically very critical of vegan ideas, even when they don’t come from vegans themselves. Why is this topic in particular so polarising on the internet? Especially since unlike politics for example, it seems like people don’t really get upset by...

Starkstruck ,

If Valve does ever make HL3, it’s going to have to be ground breaking. Every Half Life game redefines what gaming is capable of. Eg HL: Alyx was an insane demonstration of what VR can do. I do think it’ll happen eventually, and may even partially be in development right now. But I don’t think we’ll hear anything about it for a very long time.

Starkstruck ,

I still don’t understand how even with a tax write off they make more money than if they actually sold the damn thing.

Starkstruck ,

Fr, Nintendo isn’t going to get any more money out of people not using Nintendo addons. Instead they basically lose free advertising and make people dislike them even more. Shooting themselves in the foot again.
