Figurative, ambiguous language used to give information at spontaneous times about spontaneous events is not the type of communication that helps my autistic self thrive best. (Allistic ADHD’er needed to be loose with commitments, details and energy-zapping [to them] planning 😅).

This, folks, is an example of conflicting access needs. No one is ‘wrong’. But it takes a lot to work through it.

Although I also have ADHD, there isn’t a convenient switch for me to flip myself over to spontaneous ADHD mode-only.

@AnAutieAtUni Lol, yeah. For me, anyway, I don't "switch" between ADHD traits and autism traits, I have both all the time and they interact in weird ways (which is why I wasn't diagnosed with autism until my mid-30s and have yet to receive an official ADHD diagnosis). For example, I desperately need everything to be organised and in its exact place, but I also just can't be arsed doing any of that.

I dunno, to me the term "polymath" has connotations of actually being good at lots of stuff. My knowledge is mostly just things that'll let me understand inside jokes in niche fields.

@MirrorAyako @allstartrek I feel like she was extremely forgiving with him in the first season or two (comes with the 300+ years of life experience, I assume). He kinda acted like a teenager around her. Like, I get it, but damn, down boy.

He kinda calmed down a bit once he started dating O'Brien and Garak. Dating's the right word to use there, right?

Between Majel Roddenberry's appearance as Lwaxana Troi and the relatively major role the DS9 computer had in this story, she pulled double duty for this episode.

@spatula_tattoo @petertrek1 @allstartrek That is correct, I don't think she ever talked to herself on DS9, only on TNG. Interestingly, she was overly polite to the Enterprise computer but the opposite when talking to the station's computer.

It's interesting to see how O'Brien and Bashir were more acquaintances rather than friends at this early stage of the show. Their friendship would evolve and develop later.

@petertrek1 @allstartrek They weren't just audiences, O'Brien really didn't like him and Bashir was kinda pushy and overly boisterous. I can see why Garak developed such a huge crush on him.
