The solution to every Vulcan ailment is a mind meld. 🙄

@MirrorAyako @allstartrek I love how Spock insists that a mind meld is an extraordinarily intimate act, but then proceeds to mind meld with enemies, animals, computers, rocks, etc. I don't know if Tuvok ever referred to it as intimate, but he was equally mind-slutty. T'Pol was practically a mind-prude, but still managed to get mind-aids.

@MirrorAyako @allstartrek They cured mind-aids and became mind-promiscuous?

I think we need to add “anomaly” to the bingo card.

3:00 AM? This time of night? They're on a space ship, there is no morning, noon, or night. 🤔

@ColesStreetPothole @MisophonicSpree @allstartrek Aussie submarines run their shifts of a six-hours-on-six-hours-off schedule. It's probably classed as four shifts, though, rather than two. That said, it's not unreasonable to assume Star Trek is very American-centric (particularly given Picard's confusion about Bajorans having their surnames first, despite this not being uncommon on present day Earth). Not that any of this invalidates your argument.

StarkRG ,
@StarkRG@myside-yourside.net avatar

@ColesStreetPothole @MisophonicSpree @allstartrek And Riker threw a hissy fit over it. Jellico was kind of a dick, for sure, but Riker didn't have to act like a petulant teenager about it.

StarkRG ,
@StarkRG@myside-yourside.net avatar

@ColesStreetPothole @MisophonicSpree @allstartrek There clearly was, though, since Riker did get it done. I think Jellico knew exactly what resources were available and expected his orders to be carried out or issues brought to his attention immediately. It felt to me that Riker was just unused to operating under such strict conditions and was rankling under the perceived injustice and being under a new authority. Had Picard asked for it, I don't doubt he'd have complied immediately.

StarkRG ,
@StarkRG@myside-yourside.net avatar

@ColesStreetPothole @MisophonicSpree @allstartrek No, I think it was mentioned that he hadn't been briefed at that point, and I think being pissed about the whole thing was valid. Not doing what he was told, though, just seemed like throwing a tantrum to annoy his new daddy. To be honest, it could even be something I might have done in his place, but then I don't consider myself worthy to be a first officer of a starship. Chief engineer, maybe.

@MirrorAyako @allstartrek Hmm, does being phased so communicators don't work count as being out of range? The communicators aren't working in whatever phased state you're in, but you're still physically in range.

Wait, shouldn't one of them have been holding a flower when the transport was done????

@allstartrek

StarkRG ,
@StarkRG@myside-yourside.net avatar

@ColesStreetPothole @allstartrek It's been a while since I watched it, but wasn't the solution to filter out the flower? I think the real issue, though, is that Tuvix should have been really fat, combining the masses of both.

Christmas decorations are going up! You’ve got the tree, lights, asbestos… Wait, what?

For decades, asbestos was sold as artificial snow. It could be bought in boxes to be sprinkled onto trees, ornaments, nativity scenes, etc. It was so popular, many older ornaments still have traces of asbestos.

It was also used in film. The most famous scene with asbestos snow is in Wizard of Oz (1939), when snow falls on Dorothy and her friends, waking them up.
