Is there a launcher for me?

I’ve tried a lot of the launchers I see talked about frequently- Nova, Niagra, Smart Launcher, Action Launcher, etc. but they all seem to not be worth the hassle of switching away from pixel launcher. Also none of them have the Google News feed that the pixel launcher has. I feel like I’m losing features when I switch....

I personally use Niagara after years of Nova. I like it's clean presentation and the alphabet on the side to quickly jump to less frequently used apps. I will say though, if you've experimented with other launchers and still come back to Pixel, there's nothing wrong with that. It sounds like it meets your needs.

I want to second this. Paid is only $2 a month or $20 a year. Excellent for blocking various trackers on all devices even those not on your home network.

Absolutely not. Sure, neither will give you the Dallas Cowboys, but Elon wouldn't even give you the Denver Broncos.

I'd say if you plan on using it any public places, or if you don't have full control over all the computers/technology in your home network, it's a good idea to run one. It's a nice last resort should someone on the same lan have a piece of malicious software.

For SF, I recommend Primer. Its definitely a challenging movie as there's no clear exposition, but I found myself wanting to watch it several times to piece it altogether.

Diabetic cat

Advice is needed. My 14y/o cat was just diagnosed with diabetes. We"re still aquiring information to make the best decision for our cat. Does anybody here have any experience? Or tips? I am able to afford the insulin, I just want to know what’s best for him. I don’t want to elongate his suffering but it feels devastating...

We have a 15 year old who started recently. Once we found the correct dosage it made a huge difference in his overall behavior. I found the testing to be trickier than administering the insulin. Ultimately I settled on the tester below, and found it easiest to get the blood sample from the ear tip. After about a week, we developed a good system for the testing as well. Best of luck!

Hello, I’m going to be getting a new computer soon and have thought about linux. Questions inside

With the new computer and the newer Microsoft Windows updates they have really jam packed their OS with bloat and spyware. That being said I have no idea what I’m doing with Linux, need help with where to start.? What are some general tips? I understand there’s a lot of prebuilt Linux distributions or something what are some...

I'm a fan of the "just dive in" approach. You may encounter issues, but researching the solutions is where you really begin to learn. I personally like Fedora, but any of the other distros mentioned are also great choices. The great thing, if you don't like it there's tons off other options to try.

I enjoyed season 4 as well, particularly in the original format. Season 5 on the other hand, I have no idea what that was.

[Rant] Cloud service is not a reason to have phones with only 128 GB

I am in the process of looking between repairing my phone or switching to a new one. And the no brainer evolution to the OnePlus 7 Pro I have is a Pixel phone. Pixel Phones are definitely not perfect, I know that the battery would fall faster than other phones but hey, that’s ok, google chip in it, possibility to go...

Bit of a side note; when I've had users with low storage and too many apps, I've had some success moving them to PWA's. Social media apps in particular seem to be storage hogs.

Just adding that the base level is free up to 5 users is you want to sample it a bit before paying for more features.

Curious and Unknowledgable

Linux is interesting to me, but I’ve never dipped my toes into it because it seems really intimidating (and a lot of loud people act pretty snobbish about it towards non-Linux users, making it seem even more intimidating to get into; I’d rather not be bullied for my choices in software or my ignorance in others)....

It can definitely feel overwhelming, so start simple. Install a basic well known distro; I'm partial to Fedora, but Ubuntu is also a great choice. You'll learn a ton just by using it day in and out for typical tasks. If you need help reach out to the community. If anyone comes off as rude I recommend just ignoring and blocking them. Using it will eventually come to feel second nature like MacOS or Windows. Enjoy!

If you've purchased any videos via iTunes, be sure to link it to Movies Anywhere so you can watch them on your Android. Most movies are supported except those from Paramount, last I checked.

For comparison purposes nextcloud.com offers a solution as well.
