Is that supposed to be a good thing?

Jakeroxs ,

Yup, cleaned out some of my subscriptions, will buy physical copies of seasons, pirate, or worst case only sign up month at a time

Jakeroxs ,

My wife runs into this too but my phone never stops, it’s odd.

Jakeroxs ,

Yup, just gotta get used to it and the feeling goes away after a session or two

Jakeroxs ,

Lmao I’m surprised I don’t see Micro$oft anymore, was literally just thinking about that the other day for some reason.

So long... I'll not be returning (lemmy.ml)

I’ve used most available services, but discontinued one after another along with promises that a better user experience will be provided with reduced content and removed functionality with the slight price hike. YouTube was my first and last video service I paid for, only Spotify remains on the borderline.

Why are there so many conspiracy theories regarding soy beans?

Dear lemmy, someone very close to my heart is starting to fall into conspiracy theories. It’s heartbreaking. Among other things, he has now told me that soy beans are not supposed to be consumed by human beings and is convinced that despite the literal centuries of human soy bean cultivation and consumption, we shouldn’t eat...

Good thing the Democrats shot themselves in the foot and gave us Trump, and now Biden who is in a dead tie with Trump still acording to most polling.

We could have had FDR 2.0

Jakeroxs ,

Alex Jones is the one who really made it popular imo

Jakeroxs ,

Hollow Knight sold 2.8m copies as of 2019

Modern Warfare (2019) sold 31m copies

Jakeroxs ,

I mean, people not vaccinating didn’t help as it gives more people for it to run through, mutate, spread, mutate again, spread again, etc… Which means needing new vaccines depending on the mutations.

There are likely many more factors, I’m not a doctor

Really shouldn’t listen to Rachel Maddow tho, she went hard into russiagate too and afaik still defends her coverage.

Jakeroxs ,

Interesting question, I know I was like 7-8 when we invaded Iraq, living in the south and definitely propagandized (I remember they played “Proud to be an American” in the cafeteria for weeks after 9/11)

I didn’t know any better, afraid of/hated Muslims and remember asking a teacher why we didn’t just nuke all of the Middle East 🤦‍♂️

I don’t remember getting a rebuke at all.

Now I see how we were all played by the propaganda machine

Jakeroxs ,

Is the term Republican used outside the US? I honestly don’t know and Google won’t tell me

Jakeroxs ,

I would think people are downvoting because it doesn’t make sense in context, like when was the OP claiming the US was the center of the world?

Germany went from envy of the world to the worst-performing major developed economy. What happened? (apnews.com)

For most of this century, Germany racked up one economic success after another, dominating global markets for high-end products like luxury cars and industrial machinery, selling so much to the rest of the world that half the economy ran on exports....

Jakeroxs ,

Not the original replier, but I have valid criticisms of Biden, like that he chose the most roundabout way to try and get student loan forgiveness instead of the direct action of simply using his power to completely drop them.

He also didnt seem to fight for the striking rail workers, though I’ve heard he apparently has gotten them many concessions since breaking the strike (don’t quote me on that, just what I heard)

I think he’s definitely in mental decline and shouldn’t be president, definitely not a second term.

He let the covid-era GOOD legislation (especially around child poverty) expire.

There’s more stuff just can’t think of it right now…

Part of the problem I think is it’s harder to make jokes about stuff like this because it ends up being very specific, whereas Trump is just so obviously moronic in the way he speaks (very smart people, repeating himself, etc…) and the things he says/does so frequently that you can’t help but laugh.

Not even getting into how his base treats him as if he’s literally the second coming of Christ and a god emperor, when he’s just so obviously a grifter only in it for himself (as most very wealthy people are…)

Jakeroxs ,

The only time I’ve ever seen it was mid-day at a dentists office.

Jakeroxs ,

Technically correct, but that doesn’t mean it’s any less safe by all accounts.

vumc.org/…/how-does-mrna-vaccine-compare-traditio…

pfizer.com/…/what_makes_an_rna_vaccine_different_…

healthcare.utah.edu/coronavirus/…/mrna-vaccine

I imagine you’re not actually against the Vaccine, just pointing out the factual truth that it is indeed different then prior vaccines, however that doesn’t on it’s own make it unsafe.

Jakeroxs , (edited )

I agreed with you?

Even said, “I imagine you’re not against the vaccine” because you were getting down voted because people are weird about facts that sound like something a nut would say even if factually true.

Jakeroxs , (edited )

Y’all all really think there isn’t something more going on there? Like people being like “Crimea is Ukraine!” Well yes I agree with the sentiment, even the US government doesn’t consider crimea to be Ukraine

Edit: After looking further I do see the US stance is that Crimea is Ukraine, however they have specifically not been providing weaponry with the intent of retaking Crimea (at least until recently where it seems they’ve taken a looser stance on it) similarly to how they weren’t providing weaponry to attack Russia, the whole idea was that we were helping them defend themselves “only”.

Jakeroxs ,

Look at how we handle Taiwan for an idea of how wishy-washy the US government is in these situations.

Biden has said we support Taiwan and it’s independence, then directly after that our government walks it back to avoid escalating tensions with China.

Sorry I was definitely wrong about the US’s stance overall on Crimea, however we specifically were not providing armaments that could/would be used to attack Crimea

www.nytimes.com/…/ukraine-crimea-military.html

My initial statement was based on my incorrect memory of what was said after the initial faux-“referendum” that caused it to be annexed (forcefully taken) by Russia (which they tried to pretend was by the people living in crimea), as the US didn’t do much except slap a few sanctions on Russia.

I’ll edit my initial comment to better reflect the truth.

Jakeroxs ,

Tbf part of it was that a lot of senior management was let go and fresh blood was brought in to revitalize the company.

Jakeroxs ,

My own experience with Starfield wasn’t great but it wasn’t bad either, they seemingly forgot to put my apt number on the box so it got stuck at FedEx, I called as soon as I saw the tracking say it couldn’t be delivered, got it resolved within 30 min call, they said it’s be 2-5 days so I was happy when it showed up the next morning instead :p

So… Not too bad but it was a bit annoying I had to call in to correct their mistake and missed out on basically half a day of Starfield “early access”

Jakeroxs ,

It is just going forward starting Jan 1 I think

Jakeroxs ,

It’s chromium, which is basically chrome lol

Jakeroxs ,

I think most people are more upset about the engine being the only thing devs target now, similar to the old IE days, not as much on the chrome vs chromium aspect when it comes to this.

Jakeroxs ,

I think that’s what he means, he could load faster if the animation didn’t exist and instead of using the time for the animation to load, you get the animation then a loading screen.

Jakeroxs ,

Idk guys, they’re just saying they’re releasing a new video editor, really doesn’t seem like the most egregious thing MS has done.

Jakeroxs ,

There is space combat

Jakeroxs ,

Your point is?

Jakeroxs ,

You could skip fast traveling to your ship, or do any of the plethera of quests instead of what you’re doing

Jakeroxs ,

Is it? I find it pretty fun, sure games like everspace did it better, but that is literally a space dogfighting game lol.

NMS space combat is noticably worse in comparison, and some of the upgrade paths and the ability to adjust your reactor usage (very reminiscent of FTL) make it interesting enough for me.

Jakeroxs ,

Nah I mean you can just fast travel off the planet without first having to fast travel back to your ship, a few less loading screens and menu interactions right there.

Jakeroxs ,

Definitely saves some time and extra loading screens/menu navigation, sorry I wasn’t clear with what I meant initially.

Jakeroxs ,

As someone who’s been subbed to Puredark for months for his various dlss+fg mods, it makes a big difference!

Jakeroxs ,

If it’s so easy I wonder why no one else does it for free?

Jakeroxs , (edited )

Link? This post is literally talking about one that’s pirated from PureDark, and I do mean dlss+fg, not just dlss since that was apparently very easy to implement with how Beth implemented FSR, which Puredark did release day1 for free on nexusmods.

Jakeroxs ,

Dude is just trying to make a living, he’s not some megacorp, what is wrong with you? Didn’t find another dlss+fg mod that wasn’t the pirated one mentioned here?

Curious

On the point about capitalism, yeah I mean if we had socialism and people didn’t have to worry about putting food on the table, I’d bet there’s be a lot more free passion projects released, sadly that’s not the world we live in, and I’m fine with throwing him $5 bucks a month, he’s made many dlss+fg mods for various games.

Jakeroxs ,

Cool, seems like it’s less stable then puredarks, but I’m glad people have options

What point was I dodging?

Do you think devs don’t put in any work for mods or something? I guess I don’t understand your point, I love that so many modders are able to release things for free and maybe end up with a job at a game dev company or end up releasing their own games like with enderal.

At the same time I can’t really fault people for trying to make money to keep themselves afloat so they can dedicate more time to making mods, learning new techniques, etc…

It’s really not as simple as you seem to think to port dlss+fg as you seem to think, and they’re not just copy pasting code from some free public info, it’s simply more complex then that, if you really can’t understand that you probably aren’t very informed on how development and coding work.

I personally don’t have the brain/attention span to code, I’ve tried multiple times but I just can’t do it, but through those attempts I understand how in depth and difficult it can be and it is most certainly real work.

Jakeroxs ,

This is just a terrible argument, try taking that same logic and applying to to the Internet, should people not be allowed to sell software on the Internet because they didn’t personally create the Internet and aren’t giving kickbacks to the people who did create it?

Jakeroxs ,

That really doesn’t apply to the conversation, but okie dokie

Jakeroxs ,

So you think it’s as simple as, “well they hate presidents so they want them all to die and who cares about minorities!”

Jakeroxs ,

Sure it’s not an answer for you but that doesn’t mean it’s right for you to incorrectly state they have no solutions.

I do find the Accelerationism that some on the far left push/advocate for to be a poor idea overall, I do think we need to slowly push people further left via things like social democracy and improving the lives of working class people via more social programs of that nature to be a better alternative, even though it will definitely take more time.

The problem is capitalism and the powers that be are constantly fighting against ANY progress on that front and are doing a damn good job of convincing people to fight against their own interests via various forms of propaganda.

On the other hand we’re having a revival of unions like I’ve never seen in our country before, so it’s not like there is no hope that things can improve, just the overall situation we find ourselves in makes it really easy for people to fall into more extreme views and apathy or anger about the system we’re currently living in. I think a Marxist/leninists/left viewpoint is miles above the fascist/nationalistic alternative
