You arent kidding. I’ve been trying to justify spending $275 on some Super Red Ember Bees or “settle” for $150 on six Blonde Rubber Ducky isopods.

ImpossibilityBox ,

I have absolutely no idea how he kept his feet on that board during the slide under the wall. Actually amazing.

ImpossibilityBox ,

I work in a customer facing position in the US where factions of an inch are used for measurements frequently in the design of a product. I deal with people who don’t know 5/8 is smaller than 3/4 or that 3/8 is smaller than 1/2 on literally a daily basis.

People are dumb and I absolutely believe the burger anecdote.

ImpossibilityBox ,

That argument is a very short (not very detailed) way of surmising the current issue with our world as a whole.

Don’t like how cars have taken over the world, are the reason cities are hard to live in for low income families, and cause massive amount of climate damage? You can thank the 1% for that.

Frustrated with how you don’t really own anything, your digital “property” can be taken away from you at a moments notice, and that everything you enjoy gets stuffed with schemes to make more money off of vulnerable people? You can thank the 1% for that.

Angered that health care costs truly absurd amounts, that medicine is sold to the consumer with a 10,000% mark up, or that a single accident that was not their fault could land someone in debt for life? You can thank the 1% for that.

A disturbing amount of things that are not good for our planet, keep the poor people poor, and generate inferior products/experiences is directly because of the insane power that the rich hold over our worlds systems.

“It helps someone I don’t like because they are richer than me” is actually a wonderful definition of harm.

Reddit used to be an amazing place of community and content that you couldn’t find anywhere on the internet. Then in the pursuit of money and the power that the 1% have Reddit (the company) started implementing practices that actively made the experience worse for the user, violated a person’s ownership of their content, and removed choice just like authoritative/dictatorship governments do.

It feels to most people that there is nearly nothing that can be done about it. So when a person has the opportunity to directly go against the rich caste in our world they will take that opportunity immediately.

I recommend taking a hard look at the things that concern you with our world, or cause you pain/annoyance/discomfort and try and learn WHY the issue is the way it is. The majority of the time is because some rich person/group of people (I’m looking at you lobby groups) has an obscene amount of power compared to all of the people affected.

Lastly there is a reason that “Tax the rich/Eat the rich” is the rally cry of generations.

It’s because the rich cause us harm.

I immediately went and bought a Kia because of this fuck up. I live in a rural area and hardly ever visit any kind of heavy suburban areas where this kind of issue is prevalent. If I do I find a good parking garage to use.

Because of all the stuff going on with KIA I was able to pick up a 2016 Kia Sorento EX with all the bells and whistles for 6k Uber KBB. It is hands down the nicest car I’ve ever owned.

ImpossibilityBox ,

This has given me an absolute aneurysm. I saved something to show the wife only for it to not be there when I went looking. I found the post the long way and sure enough it was still saved.

Maube it was a glitch…

Unsave and resave. still can’t find it. rinse and repeat.

Eventually found out about the saving order quirk and sure enough all the way at the bottom was the saved post in question.

Everyone knows waffle houses exist in their own unique temporal planes.

ImpossibilityBox OP ,

Correct longitude! Ohio in actuality.

ImpossibilityBox OP ,

OK, how… unless you are one of those geoguesser nuts?

ImpossibilityBox OP ,

lol, found the pedant! Entirely fair though, the title was more of a mood than factual.

ImpossibilityBox OP ,

It is simultaneously worth it and a complete letdown. Honestly the worse one you can find the better. We were the only ones there and hijacked the jukebox playing the worst songs we could find. we tipped well.

ImpossibilityBox OP ,

To be fair Waffle House’s aren’t to off from AI fever dreams IRL.

ImpossibilityBox OP ,

Thanks! It’s a Samyang 85mm f/1.4 on my Fujifilm X-H2. I’ve been really happy with the photos it takes even if I have to practically stand in another room. I’ve got a Brightinstar 35mm f/0.95 on the way that I am REALLY excited for.

ImpossibilityBox OP ,

He’s handsome and he knows it.

ImpossibilityBox OP ,

I love your kitty, so much energy.

I could DDOS Lemmy with all the bad photos of my cats I’ve got. I specifically got the 512gb version of my phone specifically because I knew it would fill up with cat photos.

Keep at it and eventually you will get some winners.

ImpossibilityBox OP ,

ooh, that is a fantastic photo. The orange fur really pops with the Grey couch.

ImpossibilityBox ,

Just incase some one reads this and gets any ideas. Don’t do this if you are a renter. While it is easy to install if you are doing it correct and using the appropriately sized wall anchors you will be left with dozens of hols from small nail size to larger quarter sized holes that will all need to be filled, patched, sanded, primed, and then painted to match the original wall.

That being said I’m THIS close to saying screw it and putting some in every possible room of our apartment.

ImpossibilityBox ,

Sounds like a perfect lotion for tattoo cars as well.

ImpossibilityBox ,

I completely agree regarding AI being plastered on every piece of software tech. It is dumb and it makes people so much ND dumb and this is a hill I will absolutely die on.

ImpossibilityBox ,

You had me until The Habit. I will die for their pineapple teriyaki burger. Can’t get anything like it anywhere near me.

Yacouba Sawadogo, African Farmer Who Held Back the Desert, Dies at 77 - The New York Times (www.nytimes.com)

He took barren and dry lands and turned them into incredible forests. People thought he was insane as they fled dying villiages. They burned his forests. He replanted his forests and tripled his crop yields, becoming a hero to farmers all over.

ImpossibilityBox ,

Anyone taking bets about how long it’ll be before an idiot/group of idiots completely destroys his life work in a matter of days?

ImpossibilityBox ,

I manag d to pick up almost every single game from this amazing series from GOG. Cool to see it coming to steam with the same treatment that Myst got.

ImpossibilityBox ,

It happens every single time I ever search for anything on Amazon in the US. I have to search through pages and pages of shit knockoff items with fake reviews from other product listing created by “brands” with names that look like a cat walked across the keyboard.

Most the time the items are unrelated to what I’m actually looking for and are only showing up because their titles are “CIGNHKA Road Bike saddle seat chair seat comfort adjustment bike seat mountain seat, gravel, ideal, perfect use universal, black.” And then the description has even more word salad.

If you bother taking the time you can find 17 other brands selling the same identical item with the same markings and the same specs (sometimes with the same reviews) with the only change being the name on the product.

If I didn’t live in a very rural area that Amazon somehow still covers with their free shipping I would never shop their. I only shop on Amazon when I can find a specific item from a specific well known brand.

ImpossibilityBox ,

I just left a job that paid $50/hr for one that pays $17/hr and I’ve never been happier. If the work conditions suck the money just isn’t worth it.

ImpossibilityBox ,

The update works fine for me. No real complaints at all.

ImpossibilityBox ,

I’m in full agreement here. I will always try to support the things I follow the most but probably my favorite thing about current media is finding a random person who does something incredibly niche and watching/listening a vid/song or two of theirs. I’ll come every couple of months or so but I’m not consuming their content regularly. Tutorials as you mentioned are a great example of this.

I did the math a year or two that if I paid a single dollar to every YouTuber I watch and musician I listen to on Spotify I would be paying around $400 a month. In an idyllic world I would have a stable job with enough expendable income to make that happen. In this reality I don’t see that as a possibility.

ImpossibilityBox ,

Brother, skyrim has gotten insane. They now have in game vibrators that sync with REAL WORLD versions so you can feel the same thing IRL when it’s being used.

ImpossibilityBox ,

Genuinely? They believe that when peace happens there it is the final sign of the end times and the second coming is literally happening. And yes… It will be the work of the anti-christ because he is supposed to be some great world leader.

ImpossibilityBox ,

I had a captcha that had you click to place a single dot at the end of a line. They get weird sometimes.

ImpossibilityBox ,

I’m an extrovert with a spinal injury. I’ve only left the house for doctors visits a half dozen or so times in the last 7 months.

It sucks.

ImpossibilityBox ,

I’m in agreement on this one. Fun image but doesn’t belong here.

ImpossibilityBox ,

Planes have multiple panes in each window. Only the outside pane was missing. There wasn’t a giant hole in the side of the plane. Give some credit to passengers at least, they would have noticed a literal hole in the plane when they sat down.

Silly.

ImpossibilityBox ,

I just started playing Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice and man alive is it good. I’ve never been a fan of the soulslike genre but apparently all I need to fall in love are the samurai aesthetic and a mother frickin PARRY ability!

ImpossibilityBox ,

Part of the reason people freak out is when somebody throws random stats out there:

GOLF COURSES USE 1 MILLION GALLONS OF WATER EVERY DAY. OMG!!!

What is neglected is the fact that in the USA just over 400 Billion gallons of water are used each day across all uses. Golf courses use a very tiny percentage in comparison. 0.0000025 id I did my math right.

ImpossibilityBox ,

Oh hell yeah. I came into the comments specifically to find this one.

ImpossibilityBox ,

Curious, I’ve seen it all over lemmy. I’ve got a couple different accounts for… reasons, and on one I tried to make the point that for some demographics, like my parents/grandparents, Windows is the best OS. I was immediately berated for MANY reasons including, being a failure for not educating my family, not caring about my family’s safety, personally signing them up for the FasTrack to identity theft and scammers, and that Linux is ACTuaLLY simpler and easier to use.

This is pretty tame compared to the piracy guys as well.

ImpossibilityBox ,

I’ve got an Axolotl. Not sure where that falls on the spectrum of exotic pets.

They are pretty easy to get ahold of and apart from a chiller to keep the water at an appropriately cool temperature they are easy to take care of. That being said, every person that has come over to our place reacts with something along the lines of “WHAT THE HELL IS THAT THING!”.

All I really need to do for it is top off the water every day or two and once a month or so replace 20% of the water with fresh water. It’s not even that critical to do that much water maintenance I just like to go for as clear water as possible.

Feeding is easy as well. Optimal feeding is once every 2-3 days but they can survive MUCH longer without food. Studies have shown up to 3 weeks is doable. This means if we are going to go on vacation for a week or a bit longer I just feed him once before we leave and then don’t worry about it.

The fuel used in F1 cars is fairly similar to ordinary (premium) petrol, albeit with a far more tightly controlled mix. Formula One fuel would fall under high octane premium road fuel with octane thresholds of 95 to 102. Since the 1992 season onwards all Formula One cars must mandatorily utilize unleaded racing gasoline fuel.

-Wikipedia on F1

ImpossibilityBox ,

Here’s something that you might find annoying:

According to the EPA 61 FR 3832 - Prohibition on Gasoline Containing Lead or Lead Additives for Highway Use

EPA has historically defined unleaded gasoline as gasoline that is produced without the use of any lead additive and that contains no more than 0.05 gram of lead per gallon. EPA interprets section 211(n) this way for the following reasons. The regulatory definition of ``unleaded gasoline’’ also contains a cap on the amount of phosphorus, see 40 CFR 80.2(g), but the phosphorus cap is not relevant to the discussion of section 211(n). Unleaded gasoline that was produced without lead additives may pick up trace amounts of lead as it passes through refinery and transport systems that had previously contained leaded gasoline.

This is the same limit Formula 1 has for its fuels. Formula 1 fuel is unleaded fuel.

Which Life Pro Tip disappointed you?

For me it was “buy high quality pillow” because you sleep for one thrid of a day etc. I needed a new pillow anyway so I came to the store and bought the best they had. And it was … ok. Like it’s a fine pillow but my sleeping haven’t improved really, it’s basically the same. So I was disapointed :(...

ImpossibilityBox ,

I had just sold a car and was flush with cash so before going to buy my new one I bought every single pillow I could find in every home goods store near me and several from online. I then spent the next month studiously comparing pillows to find the right one for me.

The final two came down to a $15 pillow and a $190 pillow.

After deciding all the other pillows got returned and then went and got my new car.

In things as subjective as a pillow high quality is rather Nebulous.

For something like a woodworking tool high quality often matters far more.

The worst life pro tip I’ve ever received? Listen to the experts, they have made it their job to know the best things and you can’t go wrong with what they say.

ImpossibilityBox ,

I sold my 1985 Mercedes 500 SEL AMG and bought a 2007 Toyota Yaris Hatchback.

In a similar vein, Tweezerman tweezers. There is absolutely none better than those. Razor fine edge that I’m convinced could pluck an electron off an atom.

ImpossibilityBox ,

I ditched UBP for a Spigen case. It’s the only case I’ve found that has a low profile built in lens cover/shutter.
