It’s probably just misinformation/disinformation

It truly is terrible, and yet, it’s capitalism functioning as it is intended to

does anyone else find that deoderant/antiperspirant makes them sweat more?

So firstly, I don’t sweat a lot to begin with. I’ll go for a run and I’ll be at a mile before I feel sweat beading up. I’ll get a little clammy throughout the day, but rarely have whole body sweats. As a result, I have very low body odor. If I don’t shower, it’ll take several days before my significant other will...

Drewsteau ,

I’ve found that when using deodorants with aluminum, my body basically builds up a tolerance to them and compensates by sweating more. The more I would apply, the more my pits would sweat. I’ve switched to deodorants with magnesium instead and that has helped me a lot!

Not only do these people work here, they’ve been asking where their mail is for weeks!

Drewsteau ,

Better Off Ted. Very funny show about a giant company doing ridiculous things

Drewsteau ,

Honestly I wouldn’t even be surprised if Procter and Gamble did that shit lol

Drewsteau ,

It’s so cringe and ridiculous how they implement these obnoxiously biased changes and then immediately walk them back when they’re called out for it. Just trying to figure out how much they can get away with

Drewsteau ,

Why would anyone care what the ISPs think about how much work they have to do? We’re paying for it, so in what world is it not misleading to withhold information about charges?

Drewsteau ,

Agree. It’s pretty annoying scrolling through the tech communities and seeing the same article about him posted 5 different times lol

Regardless of his age he will be a tiny little baby forever. Our boy is 11 years old but still an infant

She’s the GOAT

Drewsteau ,

And she has plenty of prime swimming years ahead of her if she wants it. At this point it’s just how many wins does she want to get

The whole net zero thing is really just a publicity stunt too, it’s like an accountant cooking the books when in reality nothing is actually being changed or reduced. Corps will just purchase carbon credits to make “net zero” while not modifying anything about how they operate

Drewsteau ,

I feel like this is something that everyone already knew but we had to do a study to prove it

I switched to ice cubes from mammoth because of the lack of a trending tab

Almost like we need stricter safety regulations for our railways or something

Drewsteau ,

Definitely. Ideally on a shift longer than 12 hours, because fatigue surely won’t contribute to additional mistakes or accidents 🤷‍♂️

I have a vivoactive 4s and it’s got all the features I want in a smartwatch while also being discreet and small. It doesn’t feel any different on my wrist than an analog watch and that’s what I love most

I can get mine to last 5-6 days depending on usage. The GPS function obviously drains it faster so if I’m going on bike rides multiple days in a row it’ll be about 4 days tops, but if I do stationary bike and weight lifting it’ll get 5 days easy, even going on GPS walks it usually doesn’t drain as bad as the bike tracking.

Also worth noting I don’t have any phone notifications on my watch because I just don’t need another device getting my attention. So I think that helps to extend my battery life.

Additionally, I disabled the Pulse Ox sensor by default as that thing drains juice so fast. My girlfriend had hers on 24/7 and was getting like maybe 2 days out of a full charge.

Just finished a book about the Lusitania sinking in WW1, this situation (very vaguely) reminds me of that, given that Germany was publicly threatening to sink vessels headed to Britain under the assumption they could be transporting supplies. They went so far as to take an ad out in the paper warning the ship not to sail, as it would be a target.

Would highly recommend it by the way, it was called Dead Wake: The Last Crossing of The Lusitania and it was meticulously researched and very well written. There is a lot more to the story than what I said here and is well worth the read.

Do you use the swipe to type feature on your phone?

Is this how most people type on mobile these days, drawing lines all over a keyboard instead of tapping the individual keys? I've never had an iPhone so I don't even know if they can do this natively, but I know you can switch keyboards at least, so it should still be an option if not.

The first drug that slows Alzheimer's has finally received FDA approval (www.engadget.com)

Japanese drugmaker Eisai and US-based Biogen have been working together on advancing research in the space of Alzheimer’s for nearly a decade. Finally, the FDA, granted the fruits of that labor, Leqembi, its blessing for intravenous use. This marks the first approved treatment that can slow the progression of Alzheimer’s.

Unfortunately the article states a yearly treatment cost would be about $90K with all expenses factored in. Patients with Medicare will likely not be able to get coverage for this, and Medicaid will still require a copay of 20%.

Like every other industry, pharmaceutical companies are profit driven and will maximize their revenue whenever possible, especially when they know the patient population is desperate.

A big example of this was when Pfizer discontinued their research program to cure heart disease, since it is more profitable to charge patients for statins for the rest of their life than it is to cure them.

Drewsteau ,

You just need to win a couple hundred thousand chumba bucks and you’ll be rich!!! I hear 500k is almost a $5 value

Ah I see, sorry for misreading. I believe that there is currently no way to block an instance but I’ve seen people requesting this feature a lot, along with people saying it will be added in the future. Unfortunately I think it’s a waiting game right now
