Do you like HOA’s because this is how you get more HOA’s – if the laws won’t protect the desired community development, people will work together to create it and the result is something less efficient and less open.

This is why libertarianism is nonsense. People will quickly recreate all the old rules when they relearn the lessons that lead to the creation of those old rules.

Clent ,

Correct. In capitalism one must profit off the necessities of life.

Also, when you buy a house, the cost of the mortgage is locked in…assuming you don’t do an adjustable rate mortgage which were never designed for long term homeownership.

Clent ,

And that kids is how I ended up I owing my soul to the company store.

Clent ,

They want to remove nimby laws. I don’t know how to read that as more regulations.

Clent ,

Only capitalism can save us from capitalism! - Capitalists

100k hours and hotels is going to hit where exactly? And that 10-50 billion dollars of investment is funded by what exactly? Magical money printing machine?

Clent ,

No one is going to loan an industry 20% of its yearly revenue.

I’m beginning to suspect you don’t have an mba.

Clent ,

Government spending but capitalists don’t like that answer unless they’re the ones getting the money.

Clent ,

Congrats you lose the argument by resorting to personal attacks.

I never said it would be built in a year so it would appear the idiot is you.

Claims he encourages concerned employees to speak up.

Hasn’t talked to any of the whistleblowers who have spoken up.

One solution to this logic problem is that the concerned employees he is encouraging to speak up are not the whistleblower but rather the employees raising concerns about whistleblowers.

Clent ,

Nope. Vegans are fine. Veganist like you are religious nut jobs. You’ve created narratives and then act like anyone who doesn’t agree with you is the bad guy. Not unlike the far right or any other extremist group.

That feeling of your existence being a threat is the same feeling any other authoritarian feels.

Clent ,

I’m sure you perceive it that way, as you already said you perceive being a threat. You appear to take pride in it.

Couldn’t be less threatened by you. Your abstinence reduces price competition for meat products. You are restricting yourself such that it benefits me.

The real threat in this regard are the boomers who eat more meat products than other generations.

I feel I should donate a quarter head of beef to a local food pantry in your name as tribute and to show there are no ill feelings. At least from me. I doubt you feel the same towards me.

Clent ,

Vegans need to downvote anyone that disagrees when them is proof their ideas cannot stand scrutiny. They do not relish in a debate of in any capacity. They don’t even have original ideas, it’s the same couple talking points because it’s ideology base. They call themselves converts but won’t accept it’s a religion.

If you take every grain of sand on Earth and stack them in a single column…

This is not science.

They are misrepresenting the reality of this site and making a mystery of out of what has already been studied and understood.

There are apparently rules in America that require a minimum size

Although sizes can vary from state to state, 70 to 80 square feet in size is generally the acceptable minimum

Clent ,

Trump supports aren’t real people. Their sentience has been classified as below that of plants. Morals don’t apply.

Clent ,

Confusing segregationist with racism. It’s a common error among racists.

Clent ,

Yeah at this point it’s a question of when the hype ends and it all comes tumbling down. There’s nothing but investor sentiment holding the price where it’s at.

Year over year revenue is down 50%, consistently for several quarters. Three missed quarterly estimates in a row.

The smart money is moving to catch the Nvidia bubble.

Clent ,

That might be their internal reasoning but Apple will very quickly move to have these capabilities in house. Apple has been working on machine learning for a while but they don’t collect data so they are unable to build these LLMs.

For now it makes sense for Apple to leave the liability of basing these LLMs on copyrighted data. If OpenAI losses those court battles, they take the hit for services rendered to Apple. None of that liability transfers to Apple.

Meanwhile, Apple is going about this the Apple way by encouraging developers to integrate their apps into new frameworks being added. This gives them access to user data directly from the source allowing them to build personalized models.

These models will likely be far more useful to the day to day mundanity of life than the hallucinogenic encyclopedia that is ChatGPT.

Clent ,

Yeah. Being an asshole is easy.

The first troll didn’t know the term troll. It’s not a unique idea.

Trolling to get a rise out of upsetting people has been linked to mental illness.

Some trolls are just shit communicators and are too stupid to recognize the wake of their discourse. Gramps doesn’t appear to be one of those.

Clent ,

Are you assuming my emotional reaction to any of this?

Sounds like you’ve got a case of the stupids.

Clent ,

Ignoring the humor of this to throw down to facts.

There are brownie pans that have multiple cells such that each brownie is a single serving with four edges. Basically a cupcake pan but with squares.

This is only 2-3 edges per brownie; an inferior experience.

Clent ,

May that all like him follow his path.

Clent ,

That’s why I said “like him” – I’d prefer no one be like him but we live in this reality not the ideal version of it.

Clent ,

My vote is bipolar schizophrenic.

Clent ,

Yep. Comorbidity. The combination of these two is sometimes referred to as schizoaffective disorder.

Clent ,

That’s what the scramble would be. Space launches avoid a lot of risk because the missions isn’t worth loss of life. There is also a frugality to it.

That changes the second it comes down to saving millions of life and destruction of the way of life for everyone that survived. Money becomes unlimited and risk of life to save millions is tolerable.

If there was any way to calculate a risk above zero, someone like Musk would be playing it up to get access to that funding.

The problem with Covid is the poorly educated not understanding adding how odds work. The odds change for a cataclysmic event.

You’re also focusing on the negatives of the situation. We have come out of that pandemic with the technology to spin up a vaccine very quickly.

There will definitely be doomsayers but most countries are not run by doomers.

With Covid the companies that were positioned for solving that problem received billions. Industries will push their country’s leaders to solve the problem because they want to profit off the solution.

This would trigger game theory. Countries that react will need to invest, countries that do not invest will find themselves at a technological. disadvantage. Destroying a space object is a step on the way to mining another object , first one to mine space ends up winning the scarcity race.

For covid, there wasn’t just one or two vaccines there were dozens developed. We only had access to a handful of options but other countries had their own independent solutions.

Despite the loudness of the ignorant, Covid moved us forward in many ways. This situation would do the same to the space industry.

Per the article deflations caused people to put off making larger purchases such as house because they’ll wait for prices to fall. As opposed to inflation when people put off large purchases such as houses because they cannot afford it with out saving longer.

It’s about protecting capital. The government literally ensures inflation so that accumulated wealth doesn’t decrease because profit is more important than you surviving.

Anyone that believes their survival relies on capitalism has been sold the narrative that benefits only those with wealth. Some are convinced that owning a billionth of a percent of the market makes them part of the game; like a younger brother handed a second controller that isn’t hooked up to the system.

Clent ,

But companies will have to lay off workers! Oh wait, they’re already doing that despite record profits.

Companies will stop giving raises! Oh wait, they’ve been doing that for decades.

The economy stopped working for the average person. It’s been going on so long now that it’s normalized. People are afraid. We need to wake up to our exploitation.

And I say this as a person who is well paid, at a company that treats its people well. I’ve worked enough other jobs to know how abnormal my situation is and will gladly fight alongside those who aren’t as lucky as me because I refuse to accept the “fuck you, I’ve got mine” mantra.

Autist 🙂‍↔️

Clent ,

This is why I went with HomeKit devices. I do not understand why people trust Amazon or Google, their business models are not pro-consumer.

If Apple pulled at one of the maneuvers these two have, there would be a flood of articles condemning them. No one expects Amazon or Google to respect you.

Clent ,

Yes. I understand the people who don’t use Apple products think they are smarter than those who do. Your list of common tropes is tiresome.

The reality is quite far from what you imagine. People who actually understand technology, people who are in the tech industry use Apple products at a higher rather than those who are not.

Instead of Apples well thought out walled garden, fools happily pay extra to play in Google/Amazon/Microsofts chain linked dirt pit. It’s hilarious what lengths people go to pretend that is a better experience; that rusty chain link with barbed wire is superior to walls

US House votes to force weapons shipments to Israel, rebuking Biden (www.reuters.com)

The Republican-led U.S. House of Representatives passed a bill on Thursday that would force President Joe Biden to send weapons to Israel, seeking to rebuke the Democrat for delaying bomb shipments as he urges Israel to do more to protect civilians during its war with Hamas....

Clent ,

Which is why we need tests before voting. The average American is too ill informed to be trusted with voting.

The Republicans have brought in all sorts of other hurdlers for voting but oddly nothing that would test the intelligence of their electorates.

Clent ,

My proposal was sardonic. The right has tried to revive anti-voter measures but none that would reduce the ability of their halfwit supporters to cast their ballots.

Clent ,

Yes. That’s the joke. They can’t do it now because their constituents are morons.

Clent ,

I hope he spends billions on it only to resell it for millions after the internet moves on.

Clent ,

Blaming journalism for reporting what this guy said at a graduation ceremony is fucking hilarious and tone deaf.

“If people wanted you to write warmly about them , they should’ve behaved better”

Being a meathead isn’t an excuse; behave better. That includes people who make excuses for people who behave poorly.

Clent ,

Citation needed.

Clent ,

He didn’t do it alone. It took millions of others to participate in executing the harm.

Clent ,

This is long and I got bored but skimming it, it sounds like he was being stubborn about returning the items because he felt aggrieved. I can’t really feel much sympathy for his situation.

Amazon has definitely declined but this isn’t the shinning example I was hoping it to be.

Clent ,

Blacklisting people for exercising their first amendment rights is going to get you sued.

Clent ,

There are 50 states, at least one of them will not look kindly on this. It is easy to tie your anti war protest to religious believes, a protected class.

Smart companies don’t fuck around with hiring. Anyone that has taken hiring training knows how thin the line is.

Your search history on a corporate network is logged.

Google’s death spiral will take a while but it’s clearly circle the drain.

It will likely never completely die the same way IBM never died but it will stop being the desired placed for new graduates.
