Funny enough, it's also aspects of the US government. There was a huge tobacco settlement across multiple states. The states opted to receive their settlement funds over a period of decades. The payout amount is tied to the number of cigarette smokers, NOT the number of vapers.

Nicotine itself is highly addictive but not terribly harmful. All the harmful shit is in the tar and other crap in cigarettes.

I personally used vaping to totally quit cigarettes. It was excellent. And now in my state vaping is effectively banned. We have to turn to black market mods and shit. It's horrible, and in 40 years it's going to be a massive "how the fuck did we let this happen" part of our history along with subprime mortgages and zero tolerance laws.

Well that's a problem then, because you're using the same term to refer to two different but related things. Well, it becomes a problem when you consider misandry. Sure, there's no systemic oppression of men (except collateral damage from the patriarchy). But there are absolutely individuals and groups of individuals who hate or are dismissive of men. We need a word for that.

I think the popular definitions here are more useful than yours, because it prevents misunderstandings when someone says something like "misandry is a thing that exists". They're not saying it exists in a systemic, structural way. Just that there are individuals who feel like that.

I would have phrased it as "supporting" Threads. If you don't defederate, Threads will take over your instance. Ocean liners are very dirty yes but they're actually very efficient compared to cars and trucks precisely because they're so massive. They move a huge amount of goods. Put the same amount of goods on trucks and you get an order of magnitude more emissions.

Oh and electricity and heating create almost twice as much ghg emissions as transportation. Which is why supporting renewables is the single most important thing anyone can do for the environment.
