I really don’t know so I edited my (faulty?) comment. I was here 4 months and made 660 comments : so 165 comments/month

Obviously, it’s not total number of comments, but rather number of comments/month
Edit : it seems really odd that the number of comments would go down if that is the total number rather than a number by unit of time.

I understand your statement here and I agree with it. Yet I guess both you and the other user here (@cyd) are missing what I am trying to describe. Maybe my explanation is not accurate and my understanding is not well developed.

Let me illustrate with an example : we can study new planes models :
a)- in a wind tunnel equipped with instrumentation (camera, smoke trail and so on), or
b)- with numerical simulations on a computer.

One method (a) is very specific to a very precise problem, it cannot be (easily) adapted to calculate various random problems. The other (b) is meant to be a versatile programmable computer and so can switch to a completely different problem in one microsecond.

For what I understand so-called quantum computers (of today) are more like option (a).

Does this makes sense to you ?

I read about it here :
en.m.wikipedia.org/…/Jiuzhang_(quantum_computer)because there is nothing interesting in that scmp article.

How is it valid to call this a computer ? Seems like if I said : I am making fluid flow calculations by using a pipe and water. Do get it right ? These are not calculations ; these are experiments.

Almost 20 years ago (because bad ties) I was presented with a military video for the development of this horror.
Israelis where very proud in the video to show this thing driving in front of a poor house and firing from outside through the wall to anything (eventually) living inside. They didn’t give a fuck whether it was (to be) woman children or else. (of course the house was empty for the research phase, well I hope so).
This is the kind of monstrosity Palestinians are facing now.

I appreciate your writing here at Lemmy and I find it easy to misread previous comments.

So, I would like to try to clarify what happened here :
Nuke wrote : “So automated driving is dystopian?” (+…) Then, @Zeth0s answered : “It is not.” (+…)

Because of the rest of their comments I misread it the same way you did and I had to go back and read again (or at least my first reading was the same as what you explain).

it would be nice if you took it on a positive note since on the whole you and @Zeth0s are saying the same thing.

in the hope of reading more of you, take care 🌸.

@flossdaily

@SirGolan
I quite agree.

And, from SirGolan ref : Submitted on 3 Oct 2023 Language Models Represent Space and Time
… (from the summary) …Our analysis demonstrates that modern LLMs acquire structured knowledge about fundamental dimensions such as space and time, supporting the view that they learn not merely superficial statistics, but literal world models.

What makes it worse (in my opinion) is that LLMs are just one step in this development (which is exponential and not limited by human capabilities).
For example :
