There is still some hope ; maybe the machines will have more compassion than humans do, or maybe we are inside the matrix already as useful parts.
There are so many unknowns in the future and our insights are so limited.

Hey folks, I believe this is really big.

Traditional deep neural network’s training requires millions of example and so, despite its great success, is immensely inefficient.

Now what if learning of these machines was as fast or faster than a human’s ? Well, it seems this is it.

Look at how large language models are disruptive for many sectors of society. This new technology could accelerate the process exponentially.

I still hope for the day when someone will come up with a universe (model) where ordinary matter inside the Hubble sphere stays constant. My reading of the first paragraphs of this article went that way.

However, following the line upwards we learn that the entire observable universe – the area that sits within the “Hubble radius” is also on that line.

Unfortunately, baronic (energy//matter) is escaping from this Hubble sphere. At the present time we don’t know (or don’t have) a good mechanism to replace it. Even worse if the first law of thermodynamics applies then we won’t find such a mechanism.

As the universe within the Hubble radius has grown in size, so has the total mass/energy thanks to increasing dark energy.

So, on the other hand, the increase of dark energy seems to violate this first law. I still hope.

I said mostly the same thing as you in (my own words) elsewhere inside this post. Most people don’t want to see this reality.

So, maybe this is a business opportunity : to attract investment and then face investors with hard facts. Of course we write the contract so that, after this, we just keep their stupid money.

Did you notice how time and time again science fiction was overly optimistic concerning developments in future transportation capabilities ?

Also, if there is a error in a similarly made program. (in science fiction there are many proposed scenarios for this : 2001 : A space Odyssey, Colossus: The Forbin Project, …)
