Are you guys taking up your pitchforks again?

… I’m debating whether to take up my “special occasion” pitchfork or my “pokabitch” pitchfork. The first is for normal rallies, and the latter is for serious events. I’m leaning towards the latter. Which one are you bringing?

How would one go about establishing a WISP?

E: allow me to elaborate. I understood you meant to open your own WISP. Maybe I misunderstood, but if I haven’t, I was wondering how one would go about doing this.

Basically, they like to drink wine.

No. I’m kidding. WINE stands for WINE Is Not an Emulator, and it allows you to run Windows applications on a Linux machine. It’s far from perfect, but it can be a lifesaver when switching from Windows to Linux. What user melpomenesclevage is trying to say, is that you can use WINE to significantly blunt the blow / daily usability learning curve when switching, to keep some of your familiar applications as is.

Edit: here’s their site www.winehq.org the also explain it much better than I.

@01189998819991197253@infosec.pub avatar

Not really an emulator, though the end result is similar. WINE translates the instructions sent between the OS and software to languages each other understands. It’s like a Babel Fish for Windows programs and the Linux OS.

Court Bans Use of 'AI-Enhanced' Video Evidence Because That's Not How AI Works (gizmodo.com)

A judge in Washington state has blocked video evidence that’s been “AI-enhanced” from being submitted in a triple murder trial. And that’s a good thing, given the fact that too many people seem to think applying an AI filter can give them access to secret visual data.

That’s part of it. The other part, however, is more neglect than anything else. They dial in their grinder for the first batch, and that’s it. Never again. That’s fine for that batch and, sometimes the next, but it starts losing calibration after a while. Add that to the fact that each batch needs to be dialed in for pique flavor, and you get crappy, often times acidic or sour, pulls.

I asked llama2.ai and this is what it said.

The suggestions sound… generic. I guess that’s the point.

  1. Keep it simple: • “I’ve decided it’s time for me to move on to new opportunities. I’m excited about what the future holds.” • "I’m leaving for personal reasons, but I’m grateful for the experience I’ve gained here."
  2. Emphasize positivity: • “I’ve learned so much during my time here, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to have worked with such a great team.” • "I’ve really enjoyed my time at this company, and I’m going to miss working with you all."
  3. Offer support during the transition: • “I want to make sure that everything runs smoothly during the transition. Is there anything specific you’d like me to focus on in my remaining time here?” • “I’m happy to help with training or knowledge transfer in any way I can. Just let me know what you need.”

01189998819991197253 ,
@01189998819991197253@infosec.pub avatar

I think a better analogy would be, “a building has many exits available, but only 2 emergency exits. During an emergency, you ‘must’ use the emergency exits… But do you really?”

If the USA population decided to ignore the democrats or republicans, as a whole, and focus their votes on one of the remaining four parties, then you lot would see a different party being elected. Easier said than done. I know. And I’m not blaming any of the USA voting population for this dichotomy.

I have a 2010 running Mint LMDE, and it runs so much better than the Mac os x that it had did. The i5 is an Intel CPU, so it should be fully possible. Download a live image and boot from it. Test it out. If it works as expected, I stall. The 2010 has a screw off bottom, so I switched out the drive to preserve the original OS X, since the installation may not be available for much longer.

Edit: sorry I didn’t answer the “Is there anything apple does better than linux that deserves I don’t nuke it?” question. I like to answer these types of posts as impartial as possible. Since I don’t actually like Mac OS X’s UI and UX, I didn’t feel I could do that. I can only recommend that you as I did, and preserve the original drive if possible, so you can go back to Mac OS X if you want.

You are completely correct. Before I do that, I would need to read the whole charter, to make sure they didn’t sneak anything nefarious into it as they like to do. But then, yes, calling the reps should help some. Governments still suck, though. Most are no longer for the people en mass. Still, though, while governments may suck, they are made of people, and still have a people’s heart, even if it has to be helped to grow a few sizes.

TIL about Sublinks, a Java-based alternative to Lemmy's backend (github.com)

Today I learned about Sublinks (here), an open-source project that aims to be a drop-in replacement for the backend of Lemmy, a federated link aggregator and microblogging platform. Sublinks is designed to be initially API-compatible with Lemmy, allowing existing Lemmy clients, such as Lemmy-UI, to integrate seamlessly....

I put LMDE on my 2010, and it runs smooth as butter. Fedora Silverblue, as some one else stated, will give you the ability to run Linux as your main and have Macos in a drawer without the need to dual boot. If I needed Macos on mine, I would have gone this route, too.

Edit: personally, I prefer official images, so I would have installed the official Silverblue and not the community edition from uBlue, but whatever floats your boat.
