I use edge at work and Firefox at home. Using edge every work day for 3 years and don’t really have many complaints about it. I used to actively avoid it, but after trying it, it doesn’t really seem all that bad.

My only gripe is I infrequently have trouble logging into an Ethernet device locally.

US prisoners are being assigned dangerous jobs. But what happens if they are hurt or killed? (apnews.com)

Blas Sanchez was nearing the end of a 20-year stretch in an Arizona prison when he was leased out to work at Hickman’s Family Farms, which sells eggs that end up in the supply chains of huge companies like McDonald’s, Target and Albertsons. While assigned to a machine that churns chicken droppings into compost, his right leg...

Americans are choking on surging fast-food prices. "I can't justify the expense," one customer says (www.cbsnews.com)

Kevin Roberts remembers when he could get a bacon cheeseburger, fries and a drink from Five Guys for $10. But that was years ago. When the Virginia high school teacher recently visited the fast-food chain, the food alone without a beverage cost double that amount....

The CEO and now chairman of McDonald’s was paid $19.2 million last year in salary, bonuses and stock, according to federal securities filings.

He was paid a base salary of $1.4 million

Being friendly and just going on his base salary and not all the other piles of money tossed his way, in plebe terms, he makes $673/hour.

No fine for Perdue or Seaboard Triumph Foods though even though the kids were even allowed in the plants. How could we possibly hold them liable for vetting outside contractors.

My experience got noticably worse that time they tried to make their UI look like tictok. I cancelled and deleted my account and have been on tidal ever since.

I feel like things like this should have their safety system as public review of sorts, like a safety system public domain. Assuming this is on public property, but also if you sell to the general public too? It’s a pipe dream anway. It’s just interesting.

There’s this third party hotline we use to call in so it’s kind of separated in that they may not know our actual policy. Regardless anyone that has personal time knows what it’s for.

I called to use a personal day. “Hi I’m calling off for my shift tomorrow. I want to use a personal holiday.”

“Ok, why are you calling off?”

“Because I’m using a personal holiday. I have 30 hours left I want to use 10 tomorrow please.”

“Ok I have you for 10 hours personal holiday I just need a reason”

“I don’t need to provide a reason. It’s a personal holiday. As long as it’s no less than 8 hours before my shift, I just tell you guys I want to use a personal holiday. I don’t have to provide a reason.”

“So you don’t want to provide a reason?”

“No, thank you.”

That was basically the end of the conversation but I was just like “holy fuck lady please just stop” at the end. No one gives reasons for vacation days and personal holidays. Sick days ( if you’re lucky enough to have sick time) are implied. Even if I called off, didn’t have time to use and ate points, are you going to give me less points if I provide a reason? No. We’re not going to do that. We’re just being fucking nosey.

Yeah but at first it was only Cingular to Cingular or Verizon to Verizon “free unlimited”

I turn it off daily. I have 2 phones and I don’t want to connect my personal phone to my BT speaker at work. I can see where you’re coming from though.

@woodenskewer@lemmy.world avatar

I put buttons on screens for people at work and I’m imagining the fury that would rain down on me if I put 2 buttons in place do a normal thing that was once one button. I would never hear the end of it.

I just leave it at work. I will do that lol. I forgot I could do that, thanks.

This was pointed out already that I could just unpair my personal phone to my speaker, but I have 2 phones. I have a speaker at work both are paired to. So every day I turn bluetooth off so when I turn my speaker on I’m not announcing connection to my personal phone because it violates cell phone policy. Because it announces connection to both, I turn bluetooth off before I go inside. Since I have a work phone, I’m good to use that one, just not my personal phone.

how about fucking autopilot too instead of having to find a registry to disable it.

Edit: I’m dumb and don’t know what I was even being mad at. I should have said copilot, that’s what I actually meant. I didn’t realize autopilot was a thing.

Took me a minute but it’s a guillotine. It’s kind of clever looking because the part someone lays on goes to a vanishing point making it pop out once you see it.

woodenskewer , (edited )
@woodenskewer@lemmy.world avatar

I was able to disable autopilot with a registry change but I don’t remember where I found the link. It wasn’t easy to find at the time when I looked. That being said if you reply asking for the link I’ll try and find it but otherwise, yes.

Edit to add that I’m specifically talking about hiding or disabling autopilot bloatware, not just the icon.

I’m wine inept so it’s not viable for me either. I spent a total of 4 to 6 weekends trying to get shit to work. I just can’t get it right.

4 months ago when I got an unsolicited ad for starfield on my lock screen.

I was able to get an indie title to work but it wasn’t the two games I was playing at the time. Guardians of the galaxy and RE4. I’m currently on FFXIV which has a silver or gold on the “does it work” site I forget what it’s called. But not having adrenaline is kind of a bummer. I use that too. The frame generation is a great feature.

woodenskewer ,
@woodenskewer@lemmy.world avatar

Lutris is what i should have said, that’s what I was using, but I think what made me think wine was the dependencies of sorts in the settings of lutris. I really wish I could get it down because I liked PopOS a lot.

Seriously, just because something has a battery doesn’t mean you have to pull the animators from the Jetson’s out of storage to design a future car.

I don’t know how to edit the main post on mobile so I’ll just add this comment. The message I typed in the screenshot populates in a “pop up bar”. The message no longer gets entered where you think it should go and it looks like shit and takes up extra screen space for no reason. I really dislike this change.

From what I noticed they only added an emoji button though. This already is on my keyboard area. Maybe I’m missing something but at least you enjoy it.

woodenskewer ,

They’d still have to start over from nothing after 7 years of development wouldn’t they? I think Microsoft would still own the project even though it was cancelled.

woodenskewer ,
@woodenskewer@lemmy.world avatar

I thought you meant the team working for blizzard developing the survival game that was cancelled and the team that was working on that. I misunderstood and now don’t really know what you were talking about.

woodenskewer ,
@woodenskewer@lemmy.world avatar

They did blame it on redundant roles, they just called it overlap instead.

Wasabi ketchup would just be DIY shrimp cocktail sauce with a green tint.

I think they meant scams towards workers, which checks out in my area at some businesses. Obviously this is unique to each area and not every local place.

woodenskewer ,

I feel like if they replaced the first “that” with “when” it would read smoother. “…a time when that sign”

I work in controls and I couldn’t imagine how life was working with allen bradley stuff pre internet. there’s a manual for everything

woodenskewer ,
@woodenskewer@lemmy.world avatar

i mean technically, you could use it but it sounds gross to do without a filtration of some sort before it goes to whatever storage you’re referring to.

another thing to note is that most baseboard heaters are OK to use on 12/2 AWG. If you’re tight on space in your panel, you’ll likely free up 2 spaces in your box eliminating the heater but still will need to run whatever gauge wire is suggested in the installation manual. (if i’m understanding your intention of removing the resistance heater)

this pushed me to try linux again for the second time. but all i do on my pc is game mostly. i couldn’t get the games i was playing at the time to work so i quit. i spent 3 days trying to get resident evil 4 and guardians of the galaxy to work over a single ad for fallout-in-space-game.

i’ve settled on disabling “get fun facts, tips, tricks and more on your lock screen” check box in personalization >> lock screen

i really wish i could get games to work on linux.

woodenskewer ,
@woodenskewer@lemmy.world avatar

I did. I started trying with guardians of the galaxy and gave up after I couldn’t get re4 working, which like you said was gold. I’ll probably give it another shot soon. I’ve been playing a lot of FFXIV and apparently that runs well.

I have an extra m2 slot I’m going to buy a drive dedicated to trying to get off the Microsoft teat.
