This is pretty much true of any of the large pizza chains. Watch the specials, use coupons, take advantage of discounts for things like ordering through the app or texting (because reasons). It’s dumb, but you have to play their game to get a decent price.

That said, I can’t fault OP at all. Trying to grab a quick meal for a kid means you can’t spend the time to piss around and try to get a better deal.

Ok, maybe I’m just spoiled somehow, but that’s REALLY high for sleeping. If it’s over about 72 I just straight-up cannot sleep. I can flex that a little with good airflow and low humidity (windows open).

I can’t possible imagine having to sleep in that temp after a full day of strenuous physical activity. I guess if you were somehow used to it but that seems crazy.

Furthermore, does this cooling strategy (minus the AC units shipped in) even come close to offsetting the burned fossil fuels to actually move all these athletes to another country and set up the games? Asking cause that seems kinda relevant…

Of course the orange turd is going to challenge it, this shouldn’t surprise anyone. He wasn’t even given a slap on the wrist for inciting a mob to try to overthrow the government. Why wouldn’t he try again?

Stone is just a useful idiot which also shouldn’t surprise anyone.

Yeah I’ve seen a lot of dumb LLM implementations, but this one may take the cake. I don’t get why tech leaders see “AI” and go yes, please throw that at everything. I know it’s the current buzzword but it’s been proven OVER AND OVER just in the past couple of months that it’s not anywhere close to ready for prime-time.

How many insurance companies are actually left in Florida? I thought a good percentage of them have pulled out of the state entirely citing climate change. I know the premiums offered by the remaining companies have to be insane and it’s not going to get any better.

This is the real reason I have one of those damn mouse jigglers. The timeouts on our laptop are CRAZY short, like 5 minutes tops. Just stepping away for some coffee or to take a shit then I have to re-authenticate. Heaven forbid I make myself a toasted bagel or something!

It’s even worse as I work 95% inside multiple virtual machines in the cloud that also timeout (and in some cases shut down) so there are multiple layers of password +2fa just to get back to whatever I was doing.

So yeah, $10 USB device from Amazon allows me to not spend a hour a day just having to re-auth.

I’m in a large company, 350k+, but our team of ~20 has different rules. The head of our team, my bosses boss, gives us a TON of flexibility to take comp time, take random days off and bill to the project (without taking PTO), etc. When my boss brought me on it was touted as a startup within a large company. I won’t say we can do ANYTHING, but outside of go-live weeks we can flex our hours a lot. Hell I cut out by like 2P or 3P every Friday.

My wife pushes back but this right here is the reason I don’t have certain signs/flags on my property. If it was just me, fuck the fascists I would fly so much shit all the time. I just can’t in good conscious put my wife and kids lives in danger because of the rabid right-wing cultists out there. I understand that’s by design and exactly what they want but their safety is far superior to mine.

This is the whole thing that’s ridiculous to me. It’s not the fact that he had sex with her, it’s not even the fact that he paid her to shut the fuck up, it’s the fact that he covered it up and committed fraud. He could have just boasted about it publicly and it’s unlikely anyone would have cared.

heh, you don’t know how true this is. I’ve worked in IT for 2 decades. IT is pretty much always seen as a cost center.

If everything is running smoothly - “what are we paying you for?!”

If everything is on fire - " What are we paying you for!?"

And now with companies getting the tiniest of slaps on the wrists for willful negligence it’s cheaper to cut IT funding, outsource it, whatever.

If the cost of the fine is less than the profits gained by doing “x” then that’s just the cost of doing business. Execs will continue to do this until there are real consequences for the company and them directly.

For these events it’s people not keeping their trees trimmed and away from power lines.

Unless Texas is somehow different than Ohio (possible, I know) people aren’t responsible for this. The power company is the one that should be maintaining proper clearances, installing protective devices to isolate sections, etc.

It’s interesting your bring this up. Not long ago I was having basically this exact same discussion with my brother. Baring you second point, I honestly don’t know how I feel.

On the one hand - if it’s strictly images for himself and it DOES dissuade seeking out real CSAM (I’m not convinced of this) then I don’t really see the issue.

On the other hand - I feel like it could be a gateway to something more (your second point). Kinda like a drug, right? You need a heavier and heavier hit to keep the same high. Seems like it wouldn’t be a stretch to go from AI generated imagery to actual CSAM.

But yeah, I don’t know. We live in an odd time for sure.
