My biggest pet peeve is when you join a new server and you have 15 different steps you have to do before you can ask a question. Verify with a bot or two, send picture drinking verification can, send emoji here, ask for emoji there, introduce yourself, publish your whole biography, wait for the pope to bless your account, and then, maybe, you are allowed to use the #help channel. I’m not a discord user, I don’t know what this all means ffs!
In September 2023, disaster struck: Hazel Grove's Community Little Library was stolen when someone dumped all the books on the floor and stole the library.
We are fundraising to buy a new, bigger, better library using an organisation that uses salvaged wood. This will mean we can share more books with our community and possibly start a seed exchange bank as well.
If you are able, we would really appreciate some financial help towards our goal.
Our bank account looks quite healthy, but because of the way council funding works, we can't use the grant we received from them for the library.
I project I keep up on uses Discord for chat, help, and announcements, but…
They maintain a full website for documentation, and use github for bug reports, issue tracking, project discussion, other project management.
I like discord being a part of the community, but I can cant imagine people making it the project management, or documentation tool.

I need some #help from my bookish friends here, particularly those in the #Chicago area. I'm trying to identify an independent #bookstore that, instead of providing gift receipts, uses a gold sticker over the price of the book. The issue is that the gold sticker doesn't tell the recipient of the book where it's from, and I'd rather not ask if I can avoid it.
