This is a minor hotfix release that just syncs proton-wine with upstream versions from today. A user complained they were seeing some odd CPU+GPU usage in 8-7 but was fine in today’s proton-experimental. After testing with this build based on today’s experimental they confirmed it was working here too.
I’m still waiting for some major news outlet to write a piece about Fediverse in general. It’s odd that it’s either glossed over in one sentence or not even mentioned at all.
I was out of country for the past month. I have access to two monitors, and I brought a keyboard, wireless mouse, and a small JBL speaker. It has been a pretty good experience. I have edited documents, images, and created PDF’s. I can connect to jobs that require windows with a web browser to Azure Virtual Desktop. I have...
Ok this is a bit potato. Sorry about that. I was trying to figure out how to show it was a steam deck AND prove it is running on it. Obviously this isn’t the way I would lay out the work normally, but I wanted to show many things at once. On the left is the Firefox Work Container with Remote Desktop in Azure. You can see Edge and Excel on a windows desktop. I use containers to keep work items separate from personal browsing. You can have many containers to isolate them from one another. Another way to connect to remote desktops that are on physical machines is using Remmina it supports RDP.
Above and to the right is Kate. Below that is Firefox with an amazon link to the USB device I am using: Caldigit usb C. It isn’t mine, like the monitors I am only borrowing it. I do carry an Anker one with me though.
On the right is Lemmy, and then far right is a concert being streamed and displayed using Firefox’s Picture in Picture with the sound playing over the portable Bluetooth JBL speaker (waterproof!). Because right now that is what I am doing, listening and watching this show.
Issues: full screen is weird on the left side, but you can use all the real estate if you dont ask for full screen. On the right, remote desktop gets odd when full screen if using an HTML browser interface.
Again sorry about the potato pic. When I am actually doing something I would layout the screen differently. And steam is running in the background, lol.
Edit: By the way posting images to imgur is so easy in KDE: just click the image to open it, select share > imgur. It will post to imgur and copy the url right into your clip board. Couldn’t be easier.
Ah ok. None of the extracurricular stuff appeals to me either way.
He has helped me a ton. He has helped me understand a lot how GrapheneOS approaches things in a way that helps the user. He even implemented one of my suggestions a while back. I will forever appreciate his work.
I will always see him as a very intelligent, helpful, caring dev of a great project. He was a little odd at times, but I believe he meant well with everything he did.
A lot of people didn’t agree with how he ran things, so he ended up handing over control. I hope he gets the help he needs. I also hope whatever he does next is bigger and better.

Vigilante was a 1988 Irem coin-op, a kind of spiritual successor to 1984’s Kung Fu Master/Spartan X. Like the 1984 title, Vigilante had a simple premise - you walk to the right and beat up fools in front of you and behind you. There’s no pseudo-third-dimension, no in and out, it’s just straight up single plane brawling,...
this seems like a really odd choice. admittedly the old name wasn’t great, it sounded like spreadsheet software.
but they’ve gone from a name that was the top search result to one that will never be, because the current top search result for “firefish” is a recruitment company that can put a lot more money into seo than they can; and a name that most people who would use it (techies & early adopters) will immediately assume is a firefox fork or mozilla product
in isolation it’s not a bad name, and i really like the new logo; but it just seems like a poor choice
Right because the GOP is famously known for making it easy to get an abortion, and definitely don’t defund abortion providers so that people have to drive for hours to get an abortion. I’m sure the odds are high she lives right next door to one of Nebraska’s three whole abortion clinics, you know?
Yes it is! The first 2 games. It’s kind of an odd situation where the 2nd game is kind of a remake-ish retelling of the first game, sort of like Final Fantasy or Zelda, where it is different characters but same themes. I just thought of 2 more I could recommend! Grandia and Live a Live. Both fit nicely in Chrono Trigger’s orbit, though none are quite as good. Live a Live just got a low up and re-release recently too.
Thunderbird 115 has been out over a week now and the lack of packaged versions, especially Flatpak, is beginning to raise eyebrows. Gotta admit, I’ve been curious at the lack of a Flatpak version since the day they announced it’s “availability”....
I think you’ve nailed it by outlining the worry of kids without an income of their own - if you can’t buy what you want whenever, game length is a plus, but when you’ve got disposable income, summer sales, the odd free game, and new good titles coming out all the time, brevity’s more valuable than each game being a forever-game.
It should also be pointed out that the numbers in the articles are just projections covering the next 30 years.
I don’t know their methodology but I’m curious if they just took the current age and recall number and multiplied it out to 30 years. I don’t think this would be a fair assessment because a car would likely have all the kinks worked out long before it hits 30. Furthermore, I find it odd they projected out 30 years when the average age of a car on the road is 12.5 years.
Ehhhhh, you’re missing the human element. Humans do dumb shit all the time. You can’t stop someone from reading something with their eyeballs, remembering it in their meat brain, and using their sausage fingers to type it back into something unsecured. Odds are still low of course, but I wouldn’t be so confident.
I personally can’t. I find it too distracting, even lyricless stuff. Oddly the opposite is often okay… I can listen to an audiobook while doing something else mindless and not miss out on details. But a physical or ebook generally takes my full attention.
Even the Indian media are being causiols on the reporting. Both the killings and the rape are reported as “alleged” either because of lack of evidence or they want to control the spread of the news further.
It is odd that they can’t verify both allegations by the victim after nearly two months.
