Middle kiddo did a thing with a pumpkin. It's pretty dang cool, and I thought @neilhimself might like it, too. Happy Fall/Halloween/apocalypse, everyone!
Seeing our world right now, where so many people are hurting, words can provide comfort sometimes, as well as do some good:
'What you need to be warm'
"This book of poetry is about our right to feel safe, whoever we are and wherever we are from. It is about holding out a hand to welcome those who find themselves far from home.
Sales of every copy of the book – including all author proceeds – help support the work of UNHCR."
I love listening to Neil Gaiman (@neilhimself) talk about pretty much anything. He's the guest on this week's Scriptnotes podcast talking about writing.
Here is a weird question, but I've learned you never know unless you ask, right?
Do you know anyone who worked on the Hitchhiker's Guide movie that might have photo details of Humma Kavula's costume, esp. the dark eye makeup (when he removes his glasses) and the medallion Malkovich wore?
I once asked @neilhimself this question about MIrrormask's Queen of Shadows and not only did he reply but a friend sent detailed photos!
“What You Need to Be Warm” by @neilhimself is out this week. Very proud of my dear wife Yuliya (sadly not on fedi) for contributing one of the spreads alongside 12 other wonderful illustrators. Part of every sale goes towards the UNHCR!
"Places we slept as children:
they warm us in the memory "
#WhatTheGruffalosReading : the G-Man is reading @neilhimself 's What You Need to be Warm from @BloomsburyBooks , each purchase helps the UNHCR refugee programme, something that is sadly badly required all the more.
This is an interesting and often funny discussion on myths, fantasy, childhood and how stories come to exist. @neilhimself is always fun to listen to and learn from
Latest item listed on eBay as I continue raising funds for new Eating the Fantastic podcasting equipment — the DC Comics 1994 Editorial Presentation — in which Death is called "the most popular supporting character in all of comics" — which I expect caused @neilhimself to blush. https://www.ebay.com/itm/166371988714
It's kind of crazy how #BaldursGate draws you in and hours pass without you even noticing. 😳 I'm really enjoying the storytelling and there is no wrong way mentally of the game. 😊
If you want an eerie and portentous story to get yourself in the mood for the Halloween season, listen to Neil Gaiman (@neilhimself) read his short story "Click Clack the Rattle Bag" at the New York Public Library: https://youtu.be/imLja6Emezo#wordOfTheDay
