So well written (and only just started so I'll let you know if it ever fails to hit as well as it has now as I HAVE FELT REALLY SIMILAR FOR YEARS about the disintegration and more tech - and nearly nobody has listened or just switch to "the human work" using existing tech which is really "advanced enough" and overshoot is not needed, more "human improvement" and mentality need adjusting / balancing from people doing things like group chats and minor therapy for how distant life became and more educated / enjoying we could be of each other (and needed as a kind of pollination of ourselves rather than #BigTech - even with just education as media all the time - without the human saying it or sharing it - it's kind of dry / doesn't give to humanity at the end as it's about more practice and participation by all in two-way and group stuff not just computer ! )
@freeschool@bibliolater@philosophy@bookstodon I've gotten to the point where 10pt type is to small for me to read even with my readers. I tossed the dead tree version of the book and got the Kindle version where I can adjust the type size so I can read it. I also kept swiping the lower right hand corner of the paper page, but it still wouldn't flip to the next page. Not a problem on the Kindle.

We’re charged with driving innovation for BBC News. Our team of technologists and journalists explore how new tools and formats affect how news is found and reported.
@BBC_News_Labs We are glad you're here, but a little sad your content is languishing. I hope your low engagement with the fediverse will be considered as you evaluate the success or failure of this experiment. As it is, I get most of my BBC content on fediverse via bird.makeup bots. But it sure would be great to get it direct from social.bbc
@darren hi, this is an account for our news innovation team and we just post when we have new work to highlight or talk about. If all goes well we're hoping to get more accounts going
Hello to our new followers, which, for the one and only time, is everyone...
We'll be verifying our account very soon, but in the meantime, our top level domain should hopefully help confirm our identity, and we've also written about why we're here on Mastodon, what was involved to get here, and the other BBC accounts you can follow.
I wonder if the whole #AI thing will finally convince artists that modern #copyright regime was never meant to protect them.
It was meant to protect the middlemen. The Amazons, the Spotifies, the Sonys, the Disneys. The film studios, the publishing houses.
Now the middlemen figured out they own basically all of art, and that they can just train a computer on that, to replace artists with a piece of software.
And then stop paying artists even the pittance they were being paid so far.
@rysiek If you consider Audiobook Narrators to be artists and audiobooks to be art (I do, honestly, on both counts), then here is a link to my catalogue of high heat audiobooks:
@AdaraAstin I absolutely do consider audiobooks art and audiobook narrators artists. Many books get a completely new shine, new depth, in an audiobook version!
@BBCRD So awesome! Would be excellent to see (some time in the future) any public over-time stats of the #fediverse from your perspective, ie fediverse growth, countries, platforms, some sort of clusters by "topic" of other servers directly connected to yours, etc! #MakeInternetDistributedAgain : P
Just had my son diagnosed. I lied and said we were getting further advice about his dyslexic strengths and weaknesses. Because I didn't want to tell him unless we were sure as being an adolescent is hard enough.
What's a really good resource that I can use to help explain what it means?
I wish I could return to a time when video games didn't feel like chores. Looking at most of the games on my computer, and they are all live-service games which take up too much of my time.
I need to quit starting games that don’t have a defined beginning, middle, and end.
Maybe I will take August off from video games which are ongoing services.
I'm looking for Edinburgh Fringe shows about hidden or forgotten history! I feel like I saw lots of shows like this advertised last year, and I didn’t actually see any of them. Please recommend these to me 🥰💛
@GGroslier Sympa ! Moi je crois que c’était Mario Bros sur NES ou Yoshi’s Cookie sur GameBoy (probablement Mario Bros, mais difficile d’en être sûr, mais parents ont oublié et moi j’étais trop jeune pour m’en rappeler 😅).
