Fox news, twitter, facebook, instagram, truthsocial, 4chan, 8chan, stormfront if thats still a thing

gwilikers ,

Stormfront is still a thing! I actually looked it up a while back to see if that cesspool is still going. Found a fascinating post by one user claiming that vegetables and greens (as opposed to meat) make men weak and that brussel sprouts are, in fact, a jewish conspiracy.

I like to think of it as a digital kiddy pen for the dumbest of racists.

Stormfront is the grandpa of nazi racist sites. They’ve been blaming Jews for everything since way before these modern social media platforms were even imagined!

ad_on_is ,

4chan is racist? I always thought it’s just gross in many ways and not specific to racism.

Oh my sweet naive child

Duamerthrax ,

No more or less then twitter or Facebook, but there’s no hidden communities or algorithm creating bubbles.

Duamerthrax ,

Nah, leave 4chan. His type generally came cope with the sort of degenerates on there.

SkunkWorkz ,

Just slow down his connection by a little bit everyday. By blocking all those websites he will probably get suspicious.

aeronmelon ,

Reduce just those sites to Baud speeds.

In the world of Site Reliability Engineering, it’s better to fail than to be inconsistent.

So I suggest the opposite here. Start out by realizing the site 75% of the time. Then down to 20%, then 100%. Randomly make it not work with no predictably.

The great thing is if he uses his phone on a cellular network, he can’t be sure whether it’s because the site is working or because something hinky is going on in his network.

Here are some lists: github.com/antifa-n/pihole

Hasn’t been updated in 3 years?

No forks either.

We need to crowd source this.

I wish this was possible to use on YouTube.

nilloc ,

Yeah that’s what I need for my aging father in law. The number of shitty AI based YouTube shorts I’ve had to overhear is crazy.

Use traffic sniffer to see which websites he’s visiting

GardenVarietyAnxiety ,

This is mean, but I like it…

Be sure to let us know how it goes!

If you're happy with OpenDNS logging your traffic, you could set the router to use them as the DNS server (assuming your network is DHCP and your father-in-law's devices just use whatever DNS server your router says). As long as one of your devices keeps OpenDNS updated with your IP (the one provided by your ISP), then you can look through the traffic to see what is being accessed (and even enabling category content blocking if you wish). Of course, if your father-in-law is IT savvy, he'll just manually set the DNS server on his devices.
