DeathWearsANecktie , in Valve releases the Steam Deck OLED with up to 1TB storage

So glad I held off on buying one before. Now if I do decide to get one, I’m definitely gonna go for a beefy 1TB model.

I played the Foundry demo with friends. Felt a bit empty, which is to be expected for an Alpha, but it seemed quite stable and playable. It’s quite promising. Already more stable than the Satisfactory dedicated server haha

porotoman99 , in Steam NEXT Fest: Demo Recommendation!

Plungeroo has a fun pinball aesthetic and enjoyable puzzle design.

Galactic Glitch: Infinity’s Edge was better than I was expecting it to be, the rock throwing mechanic is especially fun.

Zetta , in New Steam Deck just passed through the FCC — but is this Steam Deck 2? | (Spoiler No)

It is a console, steam box 2.0

technologicalcaveman , in Diablo 4 Steam page is up - Release Date: 17 Oct, 2023

Only way this pays off is if it doesn't require the blizzard launcher, and it works with Linux/proton. Otherwise, I will continue playing my copy of Diablo 2 and Path of Exile.

Probably will not have launcher since overwatch 2 doesnt have blizzard launcher

FitchInks , in Microsoft - keep your filthy hands off Valve, leak shows MSFT would buy Valve

Wanting to buy and able to are two completly different things. I wouldn’t worry that much for now.

autotldr Bot , in Microsoft - keep your filthy hands off Valve, leak shows MSFT would buy Valve

This is the best summary I could come up with:

Well, remember that recent Microsoft leak that showed off a bunch of potential game releases?

In an email from Phil Spencer spotted by The Verge, there was talk about their plans including wanting to buy up the likes of Nintendo and even Valve with Spencer noting “But our BoD has seen the full writeup on Nintendo (and Valve) and they are fully supportive on either if opportunity arises as am I” (BoD being Board of Directors).

Not that Valve has any need at all to sell, they pretty much print money thanks to their 30% cut from most developers on Steam.

If the above ever were to happen, it’s not really likely they would continue all of Valve’s big investments into Linux given how even with the Steam Deck the market is small.

After all, Valve put all these resources into Linux because they don’t want to be entirely at the whims of Microsoft for their store, and Valve clearly want their own platform so Linux with Proton + Steam Deck is key to that.

So, Microsoft, please continue to keep your filthy hands off Valve (but keep putting your games on Steam okay?

OtakuAltair , in GODOT ussage this week

Is there any reason to install it via steam and not just via the official site?

Doods ,

Maybe auto updates?

leprasmurf ,

I don’t use the Steam version because it locks my steam library when I’m coding.

  • edit: yeah, that update thing @MJBrune mentions too 😀
iheartneopets , in Which upcomming indie game you have high hopes for ?

Lies of P: it comes out today, so we shall see. I’m looking for something to scratch the fromsoft itch until the elden ring dlc comes out. Idk how I’ll feel about playing a named character though; hopefully the storytelling will be strong enough to support that.

House flipper 2: I really enjoyed the first game, so I’m excited to see how they iterate on it going forward.

Scene Investigator: I loved their first game The Painscreek Killings (sadly never talked about when investigation games come up in gaming communities, definitely a gem), and the investigation genre is one of my favorites. It’s a genre that is still evolving in exciting ways, so I can’t wait to see how this game pushes it forward.

Shashingo: a learn-Japanese-vocab game played via taking in-game photos. I’m always looking for fun methods of beefing up my language learning, and Japanese is one of those languages that seems to mostly fall flat on language learning apps. So this one looks fun :)

Damn, I got ~300 and think it’s too much

paholg , in How big is your guys' wishlists?

I have 183; 71 of them aren’t out yet.

technologicalcaveman , in How big is your guys' wishlists?

About 20 something games. I usually go through whenever I add new things and delete things I'm not interested in anymore. Most of my wishlist is either early access stuff I'm watching reviews on, or stuff not out yet.

TableCoffee ,
@TableCoffee@lemmy.ca avatar

Pretty much what I do too. If the game goes on sale, and I still find it hard to pull the trigger I just take it off my list.

technologicalcaveman ,

Same, if I don't want it when it's 5 bucks, I won't want it when it's 30. If I for some reason change my mind, then I'll just go back and find it again.

JokeDeity , in How big is your guys' wishlists?

I use isthereanydeal for buying any game and my list is HUGE. I don’t buy anything until it’s massively discounted but my library is way bigger than anyone I know because they buy everything for $60+.

Jeraxus , in How big is your guys' wishlists?

46, I find it too much
