I made a pact with myself in 2005 or so that I would never sort triangles by hand ever again. Since then I have been using higher level APIs and I have not regretted it.
You can use an O(n) radix sort on the Z-values because IEEE-754 floats share the integer property that leftmost bits always have higher values than rightward ones.
Yes, but… “leftmost” in this case means MSB-sidemost, so little-endian systems will start sorting from the MSB only after loading the full value in a register; if you try sorting directly from memory in binary chunks smaller than the float size, first locate where the MSB is stored.
Oh that just made it click in my head why they would do it as sign, exponent, mantissa and not sign, mantissa, exponent. I mean yes I’ve been taught it’s for sorting purposes, but this really helped it fit better. Thanks!
He was well known as a dramatic actor before pivoting into comedy. That’s why he got the role in Airplane, they wanted known dramatic actors to play all that absurdity straight. I was just re-reading about it to avoid saying anything dumb in this comment, and learned that when asked about being cast “against type” in comedies, he said that he’d always really been cast against type in his earlier dramatic roles, and comedy was what he wanted to be doing from the start. Glad he got his shot!
Yeah powershell is better 95% of the time. But that other 5% of the time you have to go back to CMD and redo what you were attempting. So the work done in powershell is a waste of time 5% of the time, and you still will need to know CMD to be able make everything work.
So Powershell is better in theory, but in actual practice I tend to do things in CMD because I know it will work.
I’m gonna take it a step further and say to use the new Terminal app from the winapp store which lets you integrate ALL command lines into one app and it looks snazzy to boot!
Remote is something I’d only enable while using it. Once found my ubuntu (I use arch btw) with the setting on for some reason. Might be worth checking even if you never turned it on.
