we all know Google’s usefulness has diminished if you’re searching for something the algorithm doesn’t have it’s nose on, personally i don’t feel searxng (i used the nicfab.eu one) gives the best or most useful results either, what’s out there?
I keep seeing posts with just “rule” in the title and I am pretty sure I missed something. Would anyone care to explain to this millennial boomer what I missed?
I recently came across LemmyBB, a frontend for Lemmy that is based on the popular forum software phpBB. It seems like a great way to bring the familiar forum experience to the federated world of Lemmy. However, I haven’t seen any significant migration of forums to Lemmy using this UI. What could be the reasons behind this? Are...
Maybe we could add a new comment with just the country name if the it wasn’t listed yet, and upvote otherwise....
Are there websites where I can do simple tasks like distinguishing/sorting images, writing captions, selecting correct options or other tasks I can do in my free time or mindlessly whilst also contributing to meaningful projects? Something like Google Crowdsource, although I would like to avoid registering to any privacy...
I randomly came across Nostr along with Tildes and Lemmy in my early hunt for THE reddit alternative to make a home. While I decided to make a home in lemmy, on the basis that its interface and structure isn’t that much different from reddit and apollo, curiosity keeps gnawing at me. And I just have to ask....
Part of the utility of Reddit to me was the ability to append “Reddit” to searches and be served relevant threads to my search query since Reddit was one of the last places to get information from real people. This has proven to be invaluable in troubleshooting. Is this possible with Lemmy or the greater Fediverse? As we...
I joined Lemmy a few days ago under the lemmy.world instance and want to keep it as my main instance, but it’s being pretty laggy....
E.g. If I were to share an image of a doggo on lemmy.world and then people from sh.itjust.works upvote it, will it count those upvotes? The answer to this one seems pretty easy to reason that it would be yes....
On reddit I was a lurker that posted like once or twice a year, but ever since joining lemmy I’ve started posting multiple times a day.
Hey guys! I usually check Lemmy on my Mac with the iOS apps, or my phone with Memmy, but I was wondering what the best way to view the site on Windows is?...
Curious if anyone has put together a site or something similar to view the stats for total users and instances on Lemmy? I know there’s a lot of people joining from reddit in the past few days (myself included) and thought it would be cool to see this as a historical graph.
I went to the Appalachian mountains. I left 2 days ago. Just now, I found a tic in a crevice of my ear. It was alive, but wasn’t full of blood. It was still thin. I also don’t feel any bite marks....
Upvote the options below?
Due to a lack of polls, I’m curious as to what the Lemmy demographic is like currently when it comes to sex. I have a strong feeling it’s mostly male like in the early Reddit days but perhaps I might be surprised....
This is for a novel im writing. For a point in the story, a girl is taking meds and is convinced by friends to go and drink and she has a negative reaction and wakes go the next day remembering nothing....
Hello everyone! Thank you for being here, and thanks to every one of our members for supporting us....
I imagine it would destroy the engine and the transmission, but it’s just a guess.
Header says it all. I’m seeking sites that are similar in spirit to these sites. Unfortunately, disinfo.com was stripped down and sold off for parts. DangerousMinds is still there, but new content has dropped way off....
RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication, and it’s is a simple, standardized content distribution method that can help you stay up-to-date with your favorite newscasts, blogs, websites, and social media channels. Instead of visiting sites to find new posts or subscribing to sites to receive notification of new posts, find the...
With reddit you could just add “reddit” or “site:reddit.com” to redirect google searches to reddit, but with lemmy it doesn’t seem to work. Is there a way to search useful information on Lemmy?
Like, I know that desert dwellers do it to protect their bodies from the sun, but isn’t that also an issue in the tropics?
Is it worthwhile to try to get mods to combine them? It just seems like a bit of a waste when trying to grow a community and its split in two....
I know that Connect, Sync, and Thunder all exist, but which one feels closest to Infinity for Reddit? Been using Jerboa since I switched from Reddit to Lemmy, but so far it hasn’t been an amazing experience. I understand that it’s still super early in development and I know that issues are inevitable but I haven’t seen...
