I know this is going to sound like some clickbait bullshit title, but I’m genuinely curious, asking in good faith. My two oldest sons are enamored with him, and he seems like a genuine guy, so I’m asking - is he a nice guy? If you google the question, you get a bunch of reddit hate, which I don’t always trust,...

Whenever I search a Mastodon user and pull up their profile it shows up as if they have nothing posted....

Context: I use Liftoff as my mobile client. I have accounts on blahaj.zone and lemmy.world. When I’m logged in on blahaj.zone on desktop, there is no downvote button. It appears on Liftoff....
My family doesn’t celebrate it (bc we never did growing up in the UK), nor do I begrudge anyone their freedom. Anyways, happy independence day y’all. If you need me I’ll be sipping tea in the middle of a wide open field wearing my ceremonial red coat.
As the title says, I landed my first role a month ago and still can’t believe I am being paid to write code. It’s been a hobby forever and I fancied upskilling and it actually happened....
I have always liked open world games as a concept, but I have a very bad sense of direction. So whenever I play open world games I keep getting lost and frustrated. Eventually getting bored and dropping the game. I am curious how other people with bad sense of direction cope with this problem.
What the title says. I think there is still a long way for that to happen but i’ve been hopeful. What do you think?
When looking at a post in wefwef it shows upvote downvote and then a symbol like a flag (the save icon I assume) but I click it and nothing happens. Is there a way to save a post?
With the many Reddit style shitposts appearing, I’m wondering if there’s a way for users to block certain communities or servers. Sync for Reddit made doing this easy -blocking the noise was the only reason I could use Reddit....
Pretty sure the answer is no, just double checking before subbing to some, uh, weirder interests.
We have Lemmy.world, Lemmy.ml, beehaw.org, I think even yiffit.net. If I log in using wefwef it asks me where I want to login. And when I make a new account using another instance, it says ”… Lemmy is federated, so you can interact with everything on lemmy.ml even if you’re registered on a different instance.“ So if...

How will Lemmy handle illegal content like drug dealing, child porn, snuff movies etc? On Reddit, the corporation is accountable so they will make an effort to ensure non of this exists on their platform. And they would face legal troubles if they failed to act....

I.e. stop receiving notifications when someone posts in thread? I can imagine it will get annoying if you just share a (not OC) meme and it gets popular, but you’re not really interested in comments to it?
I’ve seen a lot of people who are still confused about instances and the various communities in them. Think of the Fediverse as Earth and the instances as countries. Countries have constitutions that establish the values of the country. Instances are the same....
Do we at this point have any substantial data on just how many users Reddit actually lost due to this?...
Is there a dedicated place for it yet? I’d love to contribute posts but I’m just not sure where to put them yet. Thanks in advance!
