I live in a country that has treated me extremely well. I’ve benefited from a ton of free services paid with taxpayer money including education and healthcare so I feel the responsibility to do my part and pay my taxes....
I speak French as a second language (not fluently) and I am trying to find somewhere on Lemmy where people who speak French as a first or second language could communicate with me and people with a similar interest. At my level, just trying to go to French Lemmy instances or communities isn’t practical, the proficiency...
I love research, and I feel like having all of the sources in one place would save someone writing a paper a lot of searching. Even if it never becomes a widely used website, I feel like it could just be a project I could work on to keep myself busy. Then again, you could always just use the reference section of Wikipedia....
If you took the LCD screen from a tablet. Segmented it into equally sized rectangles, and then added connection ports on the sides of each rectangle. Could you then separate and stack the rectangles on top of eachother to save space? And then fold it back out to create a tablet-sized screen again....
I was thinking about large ROM hacks like Only Up 64 (Vinesauce’s Joel game play video here for an example of what I am talking about) that state that they can run on real hardware and it made me wonder about ROM hacks and homebrew that can’t run on real hardware....
Since the speed of sound depends on the air, which changes at different altitudes, are “Mach” speeds dependent on the altitude? Or is it basically just like 100 °C is the same even at altitudes where water boils at a lower temperature (in that it is a fixed speed based on the speed of sound at sea level)?
By way of an example, I was eating a salad which had raw onions in it. I then took a sip of Coke. The combination of the two flavours was amazing, but I know that if someone handed me an onion-infused Coke, I’d find it horrid....
Every time I browse lemmyverse.net, I see one of the top instances in terms of registered users is enterprise.lemmy.ml. Right now it has 54.2k users, putting it behind lemmy.world and ahead of lemmy.ml. However, if I go there, there’s almost no content, even on All (which implies it’s not federated). Is it a test instance...
This is something on tvs and even PC monitors/speakers that’s left me a little confused. Sliders/incremental input are okay for basic settings adjustments, but if you know exactly what you want your settings at…Why isn’t there a direct number input option on more devices?...
Emphasis on the some, as I know all too well the old tale of no one not enjoying [subject] more than fans of [subject]. Also to be really clear, this isn’t intended as a dig at those that don’t become jaded, so much as genuine curiosity....
I’m playing Cyberpunk 2077 and keep forgetting names. The database section helps but it can be tedious going back and forth when I’m reading emails and notes to see what is relevant. This isn’t just limited to Cyberpunk though. I feel like I run into this a lot with games. Any tips for getting names to stick?
