Trump arraignment set for Sept. 6 in Georgia election case

Donald Trump will be arraigned Sept. 6 in Atlanta in the criminal case where he is accused of conspiring to overturn the 2020 presidential election in Georgia.

His former lawyer Rudy Giuliani will be arraigned later that day, as will 17 other defendants, including Trump White House chief of staff Mark Meadows, a court docket shows.

Trump and the others are charged with a plot to reverse the victory of President Joe Biden in the state.

For the layperson, what does arraignment consist of?

He will be stripped to the skin, then the court clerk will chase him around the courtroom with a large paddle, applying it liberally when he slows down. After being worked into a copious sweat (probably within a couple minutes), a large sack of bread crumbs will be applied to his glistening skin, then he’ll be roasted a large skillet with lots of butter and shallots.

At that point the will either plead crispy or not crispy.

For sure a plea of guilty/not guilty. There are generally other logistical formalities, such as terms of release prior to trial. Some of this has been pre-negotiated between the two sides, like Trump’s bond has already been set. In theory a judge doesn’t have to agree, but it’s pretty rare that they get in the way when the two sides (prosecution/defense) are good on a certain point.
