You know, we’ve made massive leaps in HIV therapies and potential cures. While it’s ill-advised to seek out HIV or to treat it as a non-issue, the fact that this is being used as some sort of a scare-tactic by politicians within a world superpower is far more of an indictment of the American healthcare system than it is if any immigrants.

Actually I think it’s more that the people he’s trying to rile up (old people) are stuck in the 80s where getting HIV is a death sentence and it’s only something the gays™ get. So not only is it a racist but a homophobic dog whistle.

Just say “black people,” Vance. You obviously just mean black people but you don’t think you can get away with that, so you say “Haitian immigrants” as if that wasn’t a dog whistle so loud that a partially-deaf person could hear it.
