This is my favorite part about racists worrying about white people becoming a minority. It’s only because they don’t consider mixed kids as their progeny. Your “white” genes aren’t being murdered by “black” genes inside your grandaughter. They’re both just kinda in there and that’s fine.
Another victory for the abstinence only crowd. Now they can point to her as an example of the hardships that come from premarital sex/getting raped. “Girl has cell clump safely removed after being victim of violent crime” doesn’t make good marketing material for their message. Scaring teens away from sex has worked so well in the past, why stop now just because of that pesky little thing called data?
Like all the vaccines do far, they will likely reduce your risk of catching it and reduce your symptoms and risk of hospitalisation or death. None have eliminated the chance to catch it or get symptoms.
That’s not to say they don’t work. That’s how they work. They make your immune system better at dealing with them. Each new variant and time increases your risk again.
If it’s very effective for this strain, it might be like 90% effective at not getting it. But there are more strains that will have less effect. As others are saying, symptoms should be more mild if you do get it.
You’ll come in contact with it probably. The vaccines help the immune system catch it earlier before its taken hold. That’s why covid is such a hard disease to fight naturally, by the time your immune system sees it it has to ramp up to 1000 to fight it off, and then the worst symptoms are what your immune system is causing. (Fever is just your body trying to make it inhospitable to the virus after all).
Vaccines are an early detector, you already have antibodies so it can say whoa whoa whoa I know what you are, gonna get you out now before you take hold. Some people will have it gone before symptoms start. Others will have some symptoms but a milder version.
I personally had the vaccines and got it and it felt like the worst flu I’d ever had, and the main symptoms lasted about 3 weeks.
For me,the measure of what’s a 1st/3rd world country (not in the original meaning, in the developed/developing country meaning) is about how well the poor are treated. You can live well in any country on this planet if you have enough money.
But if the poor are left suffering just because, that’s a 3rd world country. And the USA might be just the one with the richest oligarchs.
Question - I saw someone leaked the charges. could this impact the trial at all? like, could he claim it was improper and therefore get the whole thing thrown out?

I’m not a lawyer so take this with a big grain of salt, but the charges get read at the beginning of the trial so it’s not much of a spoiler. It’s hard to imagine this would have an appreciable impact.
