mechoman444 , in Newest "anti-woke" tantrum: Right-wingers don't think kids of different races can be friends

Lol! I was born in Ukraine, my best friend was born in Venezuela.

What a bunch of crap.

Sunroc ,

I’m mixed and I get along pretty well with myself. Suck it Texas.

agertudici ,

This is my favorite part about racists worrying about white people becoming a minority. It’s only because they don’t consider mixed kids as their progeny. Your “white” genes aren’t being murdered by “black” genes inside your grandaughter. They’re both just kinda in there and that’s fine.

mechoman444 ,

You can’t explain this to these people.

Four indictments on Donald Trump and they still think it’s a conspiracy.

betterdeadthanreddit , in She Just Had a Baby. Soon, She'll Start 7th Grade.

Another victory for the abstinence only crowd. Now they can point to her as an example of the hardships that come from premarital sex/getting raped. “Girl has cell clump safely removed after being victim of violent crime” doesn’t make good marketing material for their message. Scaring teens away from sex has worked so well in the past, why stop now just because of that pesky little thing called data?

bdonvr , in (Wisconsin) Supreme Court Justice Rebecca Bradley has been quietly editing her own Wikipedia page

Which iirc is against Wikipedia rules

30mag , in New Covid vaccines are on the way as 'Eris' variant rises

Are these vaccines only supposed to keep symptoms mild, or will they prevent catching it?

hitmyspot ,

Like all the vaccines do far, they will likely reduce your risk of catching it and reduce your symptoms and risk of hospitalisation or death. None have eliminated the chance to catch it or get symptoms.

That’s not to say they don’t work. That’s how they work. They make your immune system better at dealing with them. Each new variant and time increases your risk again.

Alwaysfallingupyup ,

they help you catch it

Kage520 ,

If it’s very effective for this strain, it might be like 90% effective at not getting it. But there are more strains that will have less effect. As others are saying, symptoms should be more mild if you do get it.

lolcatnip ,

Yes

scrubbles ,
@scrubbles@poptalk.scrubbles.tech avatar

You’ll come in contact with it probably. The vaccines help the immune system catch it earlier before its taken hold. That’s why covid is such a hard disease to fight naturally, by the time your immune system sees it it has to ramp up to 1000 to fight it off, and then the worst symptoms are what your immune system is causing. (Fever is just your body trying to make it inhospitable to the virus after all).

Vaccines are an early detector, you already have antibodies so it can say whoa whoa whoa I know what you are, gonna get you out now before you take hold. Some people will have it gone before symptoms start. Others will have some symptoms but a milder version.

I personally had the vaccines and got it and it felt like the worst flu I’d ever had, and the main symptoms lasted about 3 weeks.

Otters are mean

Potatos_are_not_friends , in News organizations across country condemn raid of Kansas newspaper office

Condemning is cute.

Not a real action though.

News all over the world could easily make this the biggest story and get thousands of reporters shoving cameras into each officer’s face.

There’s only 6 or 7 of them.

eris , in New Covid vaccines are on the way as 'Eris' variant rises

Sorry

afraid_of_zombies ,

These things happen. Try not to do it again.

Remember when we all thought how cute it was that that one otter was stealing surf boards? They’re done being cute, now.

FuglyDuck ,

different otters. entirely different species.

Bruh. Don’t fall for the propaganda.

This is just the beginning. I’m getting out while I still can.

doppelgangmember ,
Earthwormjim91 ,

Otters are only cute to people that don’t know anything about otters.

They’re massive rapists.

NoIWontPickaName ,

Yeah, but they hold hands when they sleep and break clams on their tummies!!!

MaxMouseOCX ,

If you look at the animal kingdom, you’ll see that rape is kind of the norm.

echodot ,

And yet, not a particularly great legal defence.

Potatos_are_not_friends , in (Wisconsin) Supreme Court Justice Rebecca Bradley has been quietly editing her own Wikipedia page

The REAL way to fix this is:

  1. Host a personal blog arguing about details
  2. Use a pseudonym like “SpaghettiSaiyan69” and add start sprinkling those links as reference.
  3. Wait a few more weeks as those links become source of truth
Ilikepornaddict ,

Probably better not to share this information.

ChicoSuave , in (Wisconsin) Supreme Court Justice Rebecca Bradley has been quietly editing her own Wikipedia page

It’s uncanny how much “conservative” and “can’t take responsibility of their documented actions” overlap.

squaresinger , in She Just Had a Baby. Soon, She'll Start 7th Grade.

For me,the measure of what’s a 1st/3rd world country (not in the original meaning, in the developed/developing country meaning) is about how well the poor are treated. You can live well in any country on this planet if you have enough money.

But if the poor are left suffering just because, that’s a 3rd world country. And the USA might be just the one with the richest oligarchs.

BoobiesUnite , in Why Donald Trump is in "significant legal jeopardy" with Georgia indictment

Question - I saw someone leaked the charges. could this impact the trial at all? like, could he claim it was improper and therefore get the whole thing thrown out?
I am honestly asking because I am not good at understanding the law lol

MagicShel ,

I’m not a lawyer so take this with a big grain of salt, but the charges get read at the beginning of the trial so it’s not much of a spoiler. It’s hard to imagine this would have an appreciable impact.

BoobiesUnite ,

ohhh okay so thats how it works.

thanks! im not a lawyer either (obviously LOL) but this makes sense. I can still see the orange turd make a stink out of it though

atzanteol ,

He can, and will, claim all sorts of shit.

But no - the courts wouldn’t just “throw everything out” over that.

BoobiesUnite ,

this is a relief haha.

Also, your saliva is more infectious.

Hank ,

Beat it into a pulp. Then have sex with its corpse. Not for pleasure but to send a message to its kind.

MagicShel ,

I don’t have any messages I need to send that badly.

Earthwormjim91 ,

That’s what otters do. If you want to send a message you have to speak their language.

Really though, otters are some of the most viscous little critters. They will rape other animals to death. Then rape their corpses.

Otters are fucked up.

FlyingSquid ,
@FlyingSquid@lemmy.world avatar

And yet so cute.

FireTower ,
@FireTower@lemmy.world avatar

Mustalids routinely win against larger prey. Stout kill full size rabbits and a wolverine has been recorded to have killed a polar bear. Don’t give the otter an excuse.

Mostly_Gristle , in Three women injured in otter attack in Montana

Of all the things to get attacked by in Montana. Not a bear, not a mountain lion, or a wolf, or a moose. Nope, a fucking otter is the thing that gets you. Jesus.

MarigoldPuppyFlavors ,

I would much rather it be an otter than any of those you mentioned, though.

FuglyDuck ,
@FuglyDuck@lemmy.world avatar

it’s funny how they left the most dangerous bastards off the list: humans.

afraid_of_zombies ,

Ok plan B.

Let’s get honey badgers and breed them for intelligence and pack tactics.

FuglyDuck ,
@FuglyDuck@lemmy.world avatar

I’m not sure you’d need more than three… but also… do you really want to unleash that on the world? Honey Badgers are vicious.

afraid_of_zombies ,

You must admit it would make life more interesting.

FuglyDuck ,
@FuglyDuck@lemmy.world avatar

Yes, I would have to admit that. Especially if they were trained to go after covfefe and hamberders.

YaaAsantewaa , in 'Barbie' on track to become highest grossing domestic film of the year
