Treczoks , in Trump is prepared to post $100 million bond but not the full $454 million judgment, lawyers say

No full bond, no appeal. No appeal? Then pay up. Or get repo'ed.

Semi-Hemi-Demigod , in A former US surgeon general says he went to the ER for dehydration and ended up with a $5,000 bill. He called the healthcare system 'broken.'
@Semi-Hemi-Demigod@kbin.social avatar

This is only news to people who read Business Insider

ShadowRam , in If Biden loses in November, don’t blame voters who are angry over Gaza | Arwa Mahdawi

I mean,

If Obama's handling of Guantanamo not closing and the drone striking of Somalia and Yemen didn't stop his second term.
I can't see how Gaza's situation will affect Biden's.

Truth is, most of your population doesn't even pay attention to the details of news, unless it's something to do with Kardashian's or Taylor Swift.

CaractacusPotts OP ,

There is a significant Muslim population in Michigan that is paying attention. Michigan is a swing state, if Biden loses it he probably loses the election.

dugmeup ,

Good luck with Trump, the defender of the Islamic people and totally not going to bomb them trust him Bigley

NoneOfUrBusiness ,

That's centrist copium really. This shit is making the news everywhere and it's turning young voters against him. There are 10 years' worth of voters today who weren't eligible 10 years ago and most of them (especially if you only count democrats) are not happy about what's going on. This is to say nothing of the Muslim voters who are destroying Biden's chances in multiple swing states.

Syo , in Wendy's says it has no plans to raise prices during the busiest times at its restaurants
@Syo@kbin.social avatar

Oh, so it's going to be (inflated) full price with permanent discount, and Wendy's gets to decide how much to discount based on need?

Lol. Fuck'em. It's just extra steps to raise prices.

TruthAintEasy , in Wendy's says it has no plans to raise prices during the busiest times at its restaurants

BACKLASH WAVE!!!

Froyn , in McConnell will step down as the Senate Republican leader in November after a record run in the job

He's going to endorse a replacement Mack McCornell, spoiler alert, it's George Santos

helenslunch , in Fight hasn’t been ruled out as cause of Nex Benedict’s death, police say
@helenslunch@feddit.nl avatar

She was beaten unconscious, then dropped dead the next day. Of course it’s the cause of death, and I don’t believe anyone who says otherwise.

Todd_cross , (edited )

He/They was beaten unconscious…

Her mother referred to her as she. But I’m sure you know better.

Too bad that didn’t come from the person themself.

Todd_cross ,

Friends have told NBC News that Benedict was transgender and primarily went by he/him pronouns at school but also used they/them pronouns, which Benedict’s family also used. Several other friends said Benedict preferred he/him pronouns.

I don’t really care what his mother called him, but the quote from the article seems to disagree with you

helenslunch ,
@helenslunch@feddit.nl avatar

Forgive me if I believe a video recording of their mother over some (probably) shitty journalist.

SkyeHarith ,

Look bud. I get that you want a trusty point of reference for their gender, and kudos to you on that. The whole reason they were brutally beaten to death is because of their gender non conformity. Them being trans has been the whole reason the police has been so virulent in their disinformation.

If you believe there is possible doubt about what they said their gender was or you are confused by conflicting sources, maybe just say Nex?

sugarfree , in Alexei Navalny's funeral to be held on Friday in Moscow - BBC
@sugarfree@lemmy.world avatar

Russians aren’t brave enough to do anything about it, it’ll pass with some arrests but nothing major.

TransplantedSconie ,

Well, yeah. They all ran to Sri Lanka and signed up for lemmy.ml, hexbear, and lemmygrad

BothsidesistFraud , in San Francisco apologizes to Black residents for decades of racist policies

This is all just cheap, pandering, virtue signaling. Disassembling your nimbyatic vetocracy is where the effort should be spent, affordable housing would go way further for black San Franciscans (and actually even better, SF’ans of all races).

Semi-Hemi-Demigod , in US military pulls the trigger, uses AI to target air strikes
@Semi-Hemi-Demigod@kbin.social avatar

How long before the AI decides the best way to stop the war is to bomb the generals ordering it on both sides?

Sabata11792 ,
@Sabata11792@kbin.social avatar

A week before they patch that out and replace the generals with more AI.

lemmylem , in North Korean factories making arms for Russia are ‘operating at full capacity,’ South Korea says | CNN

Lol, North Korea is operating at full capacity? Yeah ok

Tremble , in Populism imperilling global fight against climate breakdown, says John Kerry

Sounds like he is doubling down on blaming the people instead of the politicians who accept bribe money from the corporations.

Shotgun_Alice , in Wendy’s will experiment with dynamic surge pricing for food in 2025

What fresh hell this is!

DigitalTraveler42 , in Lauren Boebert's son was arrested over a spate of thefts as his mom tries to convince voters to look past her chaotic family life

One has to wonder if the kid is doing it on purpose to get back at their mom, not that she probably doesn’t deserve it, or that it couldn’t be the opposite, where he thinks he’s untouchable.

Wahots , in Mouse-infested warehouse lands Family Dollar Stores with record $41M fine
@Wahots@pawb.social avatar

The department said the fine was the largest ever in a food safety case in the United States. As part of a plea agreement, both Family Dollar Stores and Dollar Tree must meet " robust" corporate reporting guidelines for the next three years.

Three years? Good God, make it ten. That is disgusting and dangerous. Three years is not enough time for a company to be making mistakes that large.
