LEDZeppelin , (edited ) in Ohio’s GOP Governor Dismisses ‘Crazy’ MAGA Cat Conspiracy Theory Promoted by Trump: ‘No Truth, No Evidence’

Now only if GOP governor could call GOP Senator from his state and potential VP as well as GOP candidate for president, they can finally move on to a bigger and bolder lie.

HubertManne ,

you know you can't be to careful as these are legitamate party conidates and office holders and as you said its obvious the party has members in ohio and so they should be up to date. I think its best to avoid ohio for tourism or shooting movies or such for now. I mean im not saying ohio is one of the states often responsible for what parties hold legitamate federal offices but if they were I might not want to vote for that party and even vote for their opponent othewise most likely to win. I mean they could hold it against a party and their members and their children and their childrens children but that is up to them.

I agree it’s not very noteworthy but he’s voting Harris

LEDZeppelin , in Longtime GOP Pollster: Trump’s Campaign Is Over After Debate

Yeah, I’ve seen this movie right after “you can grab pussy” locker room talk. Don’t listen to any of this bullshit.

I want to know more about his arrest. Did he bawl like a bitch? I hope so.

Maybe we shouldn’t have a commercial space industry?

I read the title as “Eminem officials…” and tough it was about Eminem testing some recording facilities for NASA or something.

All the other space radios are imitating

So won’t the real space radio, please stand up

Please stand up, please stand up

Space will be inevitably be dominated by corporations that are multinational. This is early days with a mix of government and private companies that are not so global.

It’s just how economics work. I think there will be a handful of companies later

Rhaedas , in Harris holds a slight edge over Trump — and it’s driven by women, poll finds.

By default Trump should have all woman voters voting against him, no matter who it is. I can't understand how any woman could look at him or his ideas and think, yes, that's best for me. Then again, I could say that about a lot of things and yet some women support them.

Brainwashing is a hell of a drug

Rhaedas ,

Then there's the ones who would vote in their own best interest, but can't.

no one goes into the voting booth but you

Rhaedas ,

True, if they make it that far. What about the mail in/drop off ballots where the husband fills out both?

rh4c6f ,

I read somewhere that many women will vote how their husbands and families vote, even if it’s bad for themselves.

Rhaedas ,

True of many things, probably. Peer pressure is as bad as brainwashing, or maybe a form of it.

Carnelian ,

As mistaken as I believe they are, I can see why some women support him.

Lots of single issue voters see him as the abortion ban guy. Also tons of people that don’t see “him and his ideas” per se, but are so immersed in conservative propaganda that they simply think “Trump presidency = my kids will be able buy a house and live a normal life”

Then there’s the backfire effect, where people tend to double down on their beliefs instead of correcting them when presented with contradictory data. Obviously makes it really hard to pull someone out of the cult, needs a pretty extraordinary set of circumstances in many cases.

Even then, usually it won’t stick. There’s a very well done essay, “The only moral abortion is my abortion” by Joyce Arthur, I highly recommend giving it a read. Women who faithfully protest at abortion clinics and harass other women will one day come in for their own abortion, and then be back to protesting the following day

nondescripthandle , (edited ) in Junk Science, ‘Shaken Baby Syndrome,’ and the Fate of Robert Roberson: An East Texas man could soon become the nation's first person killed by the state based on the controversial hypothesis

Using junk science as pretense to kill someone is the reason cops still use police dogs and get those warrior cop ‘trainings’. Junk science is the only kind of science that rebukes climate change so its the science the economy likes the most as well. Following what real science says isn’t profitable enoguh to please the market.

ikidd , in Eminent officials say NASA facilities some of the “worst” they’ve ever seen
@ikidd@lemmy.world avatar

In the end, space will become like ships, rail and air. Initially it was funded by government, then grew out of that funding model. We’re going to see the same with space.

zabadoh ,

Then private industry will claim it was all their hard work and boostrap pulling that made development into space possible, so they deserve all the profits instead of their workers.

actually , in Longtime GOP Pollster: Trump’s Campaign Is Over After Debate

I think nobody can really predict who will win until January. Watching polls may help people feel better but this is much more than national polls

N0body , in Turkey's Erdogan says Russia must return Crimea to Ukraine

When you think about it, the primary reason for taking Crimea was because Russia needed a port to maintain its Black Sea Fleet. Now that the Moskva and most of that fleet have been upgraded to submarines in said Black Sea, do they still even need the port?

I once saw a documentary film about a man in Ohio who ripped a guy’s arm off in an arm wrestling contest then turned into a fly due to a teleporter mishap.
