Grandwolf319 , in Elon Musk keeps spreading a very specific kind of racism.

So I was very curious about where all this narrative stemmed from as I kept seeing far right posts comparing IQ and different races.

Saw this video by Shawn (2 hour+ long) and he broke it down very well.

Basically, it’s just bad studies where they test both segregated white schools and also black schools (which were under funded and had average lower income levels for parents), then use the result as the smoking gun.

It essentially comes down to:

Having a head start in life passes down the generation, so high income groups (and races over represented there) will always have a higher average IQ cause by the nature of IQ tests being just academic tests.

beefbot ,

Cool. Anyway Elon Musk is a racist

Grandwolf319 ,

Yeah, thats rather evident, what’s unknown is how much was his original views and how much is it because he radicalized himself over the years?

Probably mostly original, given apartheid and all that.

Lucidlethargy ,

When you’re famous (and have money), they let you do it anything you want.

Trump had nothing before his grift to become the president. Now, he’s connected and funded by some of the most nefarious and influential criminals on the planet.

These aren’t back-alley types, they’re the types that run nations, and world-wide crime organizations.

Sundial , in Which side will Arabs take in an Iran-Israel war?

I highly doubt war between Israel and Iran would happen but if it did it would be very unlikely the other countries would want to get pulled into it. Despite some countries helping Israel, it’s still a massively unpopular alliance in their own country. I think it was over 90% of Saudi’s believe they should break ties with Israel and this was back in 2023, I can’t imagine the numbers getting any better. They would only join in if they were forced to, such as Jordan being turned into a battlefield given it’s location. Admittedly some of these countries are monarchies so popular opinion isn’t as important as democracies but there is a limit to that rule.

“Biblocal prophecies,” you say? Hmm. What prophecy in the Bible pertains to what’s supposed to happen when Jews are in complete control of the Holy Land? It couldn’t possibly be that they believe they need to support Israel so that Armageddon happens and they get raptured up into heaven, could it?

Nah. That’d be completely irrational and would show that the people who believe that have no right to be deciding policy for the future of the planet since they’re planning on leaving it as soon as possible.

The US is more concerned with slowly bleeding Russia rather than saving Ukrainian lives or helping them win this war.

I guess it’s better than doing nothing but the talk by leaders of “standing with Ukraine” is bullshit.

MehBlah ,

This would be how the US and Russia have played their cold wars.

ContrarianTrail ,

It seems cold but it makes sense and I can’t really blame USA for doing that.

Another aspect to consider is that by gradually increasing support, it blurs the moments when so-called ‘red lines’ are being crossed. If we had provided Ukraine with Western cruise missiles, tanks, and jets from the start of the conflict, and allowed them to strike into Russia proper, there would have been a legitimate risk of major escalation. Instead, by slowly ramping up support, it’s much harder for Russia to pinpoint a specific moment when a line was crossed.

@FlyingSquid@lemmy.world avatar

He said one Jewish state for a reason. And it isn’t a “one state solution” reason. It’s the reason so many evangelicals support Israel: they want to banish all Jews in the world to Israel because they think that’s one of the steps needed to bring Jesus back.

One massive global ethnic cleansing.

HK65 , in Gun shops that sold weapons trafficked into Washington, DC, sued by nation’s capital and Maryland

and repetitive purchases, known as straw purchasing

I am not even close to US gun culture, but isn’t straw purchasing when someone sends someone else to go in the store and do the background check to get the gun?

ltxrtquq ,

In the United States, a straw purchaser of a firearm at a federally licensed firearm dealership who lies about the identity of the ultimate possessor of the gun can be charged with making false statements on a federal Firearms Transaction Record, which is a felony. Note that in this case, purchasing the item for another person is ipso facto illegal, regardless of that person’s status as a legal possessor.

from Wikipedia

I guess if you’re buying up a lot of guns with the intent to resell/distribute them, that would count as straw purchasing.

HK65 ,

Oh, so the traffickers are the strawman in this case, got it.
