We already had a good conversation about this over on this post yesterday, in case you missed it. Pretty sure it’s in the same community. Shittier source on that one (I hate Newsweek), but I think it’s better to join in on the existing discussion?

Thank you, I missed that!

No problem! Multiple sources is never bad, but one thing I struggle with on Lemmy is the disparate spreading out of convos across posts in the same community. I wish there were better tools to minimize this without generous posters like you having to keep track of every single post before submitting something new.

finley , in Judge rules Breonna Taylor's boyfriend caused her death, throws out major charges against ex-Louisville officers

this is the bullest of shit

werefreeatlast , in NASA says astronauts stuck in space will not return on Boeing capsule, will wait for SpaceX craft

Okay so they are stuck then. Right?

Wouldn’t it be interesting if they make it back safely on the X snap dragons capsule thing and then they bring back the boing capsule and it burns up? It mean, if nothing happens it’s okay, but If it does!?

zabadoh , in Telegram messaging app CEO Durov arrested in France

CEOs gotta check with international criminal lawyers before boarding planes… 😂😂😂 They can afford it.

Zuckerberg, Musk, and Trump also have a lot to answer for…

raynethackery , in Nikki Haley in Taiwan says an isolationist policy is not healthy, while expressing support for Trump

Just let him go. I know the withdrawal symptoms can suck but it’s better on the other side.

circuitfarmer , in Trump blasts Harris plan to ban price gouging as communism. But GOP states already block some price hikes.
@circuitfarmer@lemmy.sdf.org avatar

It’s also just literally not communism. That’s just the word they use when there is no real argument. Americans have been conditioned by 50+ years of “communism bad”, so it tends to work, especially as a conservative dog whistle.

realcaseyrollins , in Judge rules Breonna Taylor's boyfriend caused her death, throws out major charges against ex-Louisville officers

A federal judge has thrown out major felony charges against two former Louisville officers accused of falsifying a warrant that led police to Breonna Taylor’s door before they fatally shot her.

Maybe I’m wrong but Isn’t falsifying a warrant illegal??

catloaf ,

They are still facing separate charges for that.

Boeing has jumped the shark entirely. A company that used to be run by engineers is now a shell of its former self and run by MBAs.

SGGeorwell ,

For what it’s worth, I used to work for the former Boeing CEO who blew up the company. He seemed unrepentant. Totally just a normal dude having a normal time. His WIFE however. Holy shit was she a ball of anxiety. She was so anxious she would give her elderly dog drugs to “calm him down.” The lady was a wreck.

nucleative , in Airbnb's struggles go beyond people spending less. It's losing some travelers to hotels.

Airbnb has been in a race to bring the worst of the tech industry’s profit consuming corporatism (no phone number, horrid customer service, lots of rules that nobody follows, privacy nightmares) to an industry that focused on hospitality - by definition a high-touch service - and we are all worse off because of that.

jonne ,

Not to mention the ‘hosts’ have been tacking all sorts of fees on top of your stay, and requiring people to do deep cleans, leaving a key in some lockbox a block away, etc.

At this point you just want to get a hotel even if it costs more instead of dealing with some of their shit. In a hotel you walk in, someone actually is there to greet you, there’s no expectation that you clean the room, etc.

Airbnb ruined their own product by letting the hosts ruin the experience.

Zink , in Big Pharma claims lower prices will mean giving up miracle medications. Ignore them.

Won’t somebody think of the jobs in their marketing departments that have bigger budgets than the R&D departments?!?

BigMacHole , in Oath Keepers lawyer pleads guilty to obstructing Jan. 6 investigation - Kellye SoRelle admitted that she advised members of the extremist group to destroy evidence.

ShepherdPie , in Big Pharma claims lower prices will mean giving up miracle medications. Ignore them.

Assuming lower prices were mandated in the future, what is their alternative? Develop zero new medications and subsist on the current drugs they offer with soon to expire patents? I doubt their competitors will be sitting idly by waiting for their eventual demise. Their argument is so superficial.
