logicbomb , in Tampa Voters Get Their Say Two Years After DeSantis Axed Their Democratic Prosecutor

This article is about an out of control DeSantis removing several elected Democrats from their positions because he disagreed with them (because they were Democrats), and replacing them with Republicans.

Apparently, that’s what passes for a democracy in Florida.

paraphrand , in FDA wants to cut sodium in packaged and processed foods by about 20%

Keto people argue about sodium.

ulkesh , in RFK Jr. admits he falls for online misinformation “all the time”
@ulkesh@lemmy.world avatar

So, a moron. At least he’s self-aware.

Kiernian , in Hackers may have stolen the Social Security numbers of all Americans. Here's what to know.

In the sense of “Simpsons did it!”:

Equifax did it first.

Sure wish the massive corporate incompetence and malfeasance causing huge data leaks multiple times over the years would get mentioned every time one of these stories comes up.

Hackers did blah, this WOULD ALMOST matter, but!

We need to start redirecting some of those board bonuses and CEO dollars back into infrastructure to actually secure this shit as a required responsibility and stop places from being allowed to request personal information they shouldn’t have.

FiniteBanjo , in Uvalde police failed to turn over some video footage from Robb Elementary shooting, department says

In all fairness they had more than a hundred people standing around at the scene, might be a logistical issue.

credo , in Donald Trump says he's "entitled" to personally attack Kamala Harris

Is it because he’s old, white and inherited money?

ironhydroxide , in Billionaire accused of stealing sand from Malibu’s Broad Beach, lawsuit says

Hmmm an illegal mining operation…

Not like msha has any teeth for the rich though.

dhork , in Between 2000-2022, there has been a 75% decline in youth incarceration. However, racial & ethnic disparities in youth incarceration & sentencing persist despite overall decrease in youth offending.

It’s my pet theory that kids these days have so many gadgets and doo-dads to entertain them that they are hardly ever really bored. Many more kids have access to their own mobile phone (probably even with Internet access) now than in 2000. Combine that with the game consoles and other devices, and it’s no longer necessary to go hang out on a street corner to interact with each other.

Most kids who got in trouble back then got in trouble because they all hung out in a group, being bored together, and gave in to the worst idea that one of them had. It’s a lot harder to get in that type of trouble when they are all talking to each other in a group chat from their bedrooms, or while playing a video game.

fine_sandy_bottom , in Donald Trump says he's "entitled" to personally attack Kamala Harris

Trump said Thursday that Walz has “had a terrible career” and called him “a weird guy,” adding that Harris was “weird in her policy.”

I love this so much. His best retort is “no, you’re weird!”.

Um so pumped to see him lose the ejection, and then go to jail, and then become irrelevant, and then die.

Xaphanos ,

You missed “become poor” and “have his family turn on him”.

ReallyActuallyFrankenstein ,

“Oh, so we can just steal ‘weird’ and turn it against them, like we did ‘fake news’ and ‘fascist’ and all the others, right?”

Followed by:

“Look at these weird liberals who want health care and don’t think of women as cattle!”

, Donald and JD. Never stop never stopping.

The popular political position of “no u.”

Zombiepirate ,
@Zombiepirate@lemmy.world avatar

The only arguments reactionaries have are “no u” and “nuh-uh.”

I had more stimulating debates at the middle school lunch table.

MaxPow3r11 ,

That’s all these fascist fucks ever have.

Which is why they have to coopt every movement/slogan created by the left

& twist it into their own fucked shit.

Um so pumped to see him lose the ejection

I dunno if that’s a Freudian slip or intentional, but either way it’s funny as hell.

iAmTheTot ,

Pump the brakes on that excitement. I don’t know how old you are, but let me tell or remind you that voters were this excited in 2016 too, and spoiler alert, he won.

Harris does not have that big of a lead. Let’s get excited after she actually wins.

lolcatnip ,

I wasn’t anywhere near this excited to see every imaginable bad thing happen to him back then.

Crackhappy ,
@Crackhappy@lemmy.world avatar

I’m more excited to see him lose the erection.

pubquiz , in Tampa Voters Get Their Say Two Years After DeSantis Axed Their Democratic Prosecutor

Someone getting elected locally, who differs in approach from the Governor is a fire-able offense? That’s some medieval shit.

FlyingSquid ,
@FlyingSquid@lemmy.world avatar

In Florida? DeSantis’ Florida? Absolutely. It’s his personal fiefdom.

People keep saying he’ll be term limited out. Watch him get the legislature to change that on his behalf by 2026.

N0body , in Trump: I’m Not Changing Strategy Even as Harris Gains Steam

One-trick pony confirms he’s sticking to his one trick.

There is no decision to make. Ranting about things that make him angry is the only mode Trump has. There is no depth to his character, no contemplative side that asks the big questions. He’s a dog barking at the cars passing by his window. That’s all he’s capable of being.

BobGnarley , in Kamala Harris economic plan to focus on groceries, housing and healthcare

I mean isn’t she the vice president? Why can’t she do that shit now?

Aermis ,

Because she’s the vice president. What powers does she have other than influence?

mipadaitu ,
ImADifferentBird ,
@ImADifferentBird@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

You do know the Vice President has little actual power, right? Pretty much the only power they can exercise on their own behalf (rather than being delegated by the president) is the tiebreaking vote in the Senate.
