Any bets on whether this will change anything? I mean yeah, it doesn’t seem likely and the prevailing opinion seems to be “fuck no”, but I have no idea how informed that opinion is.
This specifically? Probably not just because Biden only has a few months left. But I think we’re going to see a generational change in attitude from future presidents. Israel better get their shit together before that happens.
Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich implies he believes that blocking humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip is “justified and moral” even if it causes 2 million civilians to die of hunger, adding however that the international community won’t allow this to happen.
I personally avoid “taking sides” (we have our own problems in Ukraine) in what wikipedia calls the Israel–Hamas war, but this is a full on open call for genocide.
Israel and Hamas are both bastards, but neither wholly represent their respective constituent citizenry, and no group ever deserves starvation or genocide. Not a complicated situation to identify as fucked.
I agree in principle with what you are saying, but this particular statement is very brutal considering this is an official statement from a senior Israeli government leader.
He just represents the will of the majority. Listen to Giden Levy speaking in 2015 on how Israeli society lives with the occupation youtu.be/3EtNFXL_ykg
Sorry, MAGA. You’re not going to Kathy Griffin Green Day. They aren’t attempting to be some sort of mainstream act you can watch on Good Morning America.

Lots more understand it’s a real thing, but are perfectly happy we set record breaking fossil fuels production under Biden.
Because it’s one of the few things propping up “the economy”.
Unfortunately pulling coal out of the ground and shipping it to China where they burn coal less efficiently leads to even more climate change than just burning it here.
If the rest really cared, we wouldn’t be breaking records as we speak
Both. It’s not unique to the US, even though that’s what I was talking about. And China is (meant isn’t) the only country with few regulations buying it up.
Across the globe countries do stuff like a small amount of electric buses because voters do care about climate change. However as they use less fossil fuels, they still produce the same or even more. They just ship them to countries with less regulations resulting in more pollution before even factoring in the carbon costs to transport it.
Because climate change is a global issue, it still hurts the original country along with everyone else.
This is exactly why I hate uplifting news about some places reducing their emissions or other pollution. It paints the accomplishments as happening in a vacuum, when in fact the problem likely has been moved elsewhere. If all the major countries are decreasing pollution but the global picture still shows an increase, are we really fixing anything, or just shuffling the numbers around?
It’s just funny that Biden tried everything from ‘convicted felon’ to ‘crazy guy’ and his surrogates added things like ‘rapist’ and ‘dictator’ and such and none of it got under their skin.
Saw on good point on here the other day. It gets under their skin so bad to be called weird because they know they are and their entire platform rests on convincing you that they aren’t
Because their entire political platform is about superficial attacks on others while painting themselves as the cool normal people. Their entire existence hinges that they are normal relateble people, when you call them weird it means that they are in the same class that they’re attacking. It’s like those superficial bullies from high-school who in reality are tremendously insecure.
To a fascist, weird = not normal = one of the OTHERS = an evil and dangerous abomination that must be eliminated one way or the other for the good of the Reich.
