Harrk , in McDonald's to 'rethink' prices after first sales fall since 2020

This isn’t just McDonalds. I walked into KFC the other day and it’s got so darn expensive there, too. Nowadays we don’t bother eating out unless we’re on the road or something. Just ain’t worth it.

Test_Tickles , (edited )

Last time I went to taco Bell, it cost more person than our local Mexican restaurants, for the same amount of food. So, it’s literally cheaper for me to order from a real Mexican restaurant than Taco Bell.
Now, when we run across something ridiculously expensive, we refer to it as having Taco Bell money, because I can’t even think of how rich I would have to be to pay so much for such shitty food in such shitty portions. Money would have to be so meaningless that I am bored out my mind and I am craving some nestolgic flavor from my youth, but somehow my personal chefs (that’s right, more than one) can’t seem to replicate the essence of mediocrety that I remember.

HawlSera ,

KFC isn’t even a blip on my radar for this reason

TheDemonBuer , in Global methane emissions rising at fastest rate in decades, scientists warn
@TheDemonBuer@lemmy.world avatar

We’re shutting down a lot of coal power plants, which is very good, but most of them are being replaced with natural gas plants. Natural gas has about half the carbon emissions of coal, but natural gas is mostly just methane. There are many points along the entire natural gas infrastructure where methane can leak and enter the atmosphere.

MagicShel , in U.S. intelligence official: Russia will likely use propaganda to support Trump over Harris

When Putin is finally defenestrated once and for all, I’m curious to see how greatly that will affect geopolitics. Like, is Putin some kind of genius here, or will his apparatus be easily inherited by a successor?

roguetrick ,

No dictator holds absolute power, but divides it under him to counterbalance his supporters. All those supporters think they deserve everything and said counterbalance generally doesn’t allow them to squeeze seize it cleanly. The oligarchy will likely try to use a cutout they think they can control.

Promethiel ,
@Promethiel@lemmy.world avatar

I wonder if any of the sycophants remaining to stare at the dangling keys to power like mesmerized toddlers would even retain the presence and ability to scheme.

That’s one long cultivated and pruned garden of shitbaggery with a history of rich men whose abilities extend to amassing stolen wealth and an inability to handle windows. How many Kingmakers could possibly remain?

The whole house of cards may fall after time’s dues are paid and Putin finally runs out of track to run away from his pedestrian mortality.

Not willing to entertain bets on whether that will be the time of changes or more “and then it got worse” though.

Doorbook , in U.S. intelligence official: Russia will likely use propaganda to support Trump over Harris

USA: long history of interfering with foreign election, and other countries politics with public support for specific candidate.

Russia: do the same.

USA: How can they do that!?

FlyingSquid ,
@FlyingSquid@lemmy.world avatar

So it’s bad when the U.S. does it but good when Russia does it? Is that what you’re suggesting?

PepperoniNipple , in Trump proposed bombing Mexico and it somehow wasn’t a big story

I hope narcos begin to target republican politicians. It’s as easy as sending a well-dressed and mannered kid to enter the country as a tourist or whatever, give him a gun and let him pop the head of one of these demons while they’re eating in peace with their family at some fancy restaurant. Nobody will ever capture the kid because he will just run away, americans carrying guns won’t be enough

    I read your comment as “hanging tractors” and for the split second I was confused as hell.

    eran_morad ,

    Apparently the mods are fucking confused, too, somehow thinking that it’s not okay to follow the law when it comes to treason.

    Ok, this “mostly factual,” tells me absolutely nothing. What part is not factual? If the bot won’t point out the lies then it’s just a program version of captain obvious. 🙄

    they believe it will support American jobs and manufacturers

    What, like 3 jobs?

    Kit ,

    Yeah but they’re going to spend $10,000 per flag that costs $0.10 to make. Gotta keep lining those contractor pockets!

    PepperoniNipple , in Cisgender students allowed to sue Virginia schools to avoid sharing restrooms with trans classmates

    If you’re young and know any kid who is heavily transphobe and such, don’t feel ashamed or scared of bullying them. That’s the language they speak and the only way they learn to change for the better. Psychopathic kids with macho-man alcoholic fathers only learn when someone bigger and scarier puts them in their place. Never stop smiling when turning them into dust, enjoy it and be a hero for everybody

    I’m a thin sliced potato chip maduro guy myself. The lengthwise ones are always too thick for my liking.
