"A Thursday report from Zillow… "

Fuck you Zillow! You are mostly at fault as to why the housing market is such shit

FenrirIII , in What to know about the updated COVID vaccines coming this fall
@FenrirIII@lemmy.world avatar

Real question: how much is it? Does health insurance cover it?

return2ozma OP ,
@return2ozma@lemmy.world avatar

Are the vaccines free?

Those who are covered by Medicare, Medicaid or private insurance will receive coverage for the updated vaccines.

In previous years, the CDC had a Bridge Access Program that provided free COVID-19 vaccines to adults without health insurance and adults whose insurance does not cover all COVID-19 vaccine costs. The program is ending in August 2024.

“This year we won’t have the luxury of having the Bridge Program be a safety gap,” Chin-Hong said. “Those who have no insurance, which comprises millions of Americans, will have to be covered by different states’ safety net programs.”

For children whose parents or guardians cannot afford vaccine coverage for them, there is the federally funded Vaccines for Children Program, which provides access to vaccines.

See, Republicans. This is what ethics and integrity look like. Hold your own accountable.

Sam_Bass , in A $1 million starter home is now the norm in more than 200 US cities

Nobody knows what a “starter home” is anymore anyway. Sellers play them all up through the roof anymore

doodledup , in Elon Musk shares manipulated Harris video, in seeming violation of X’s policies

Why is there no video in the article? Not even a link to it. Why is the whole internet talking about this video but nobody seems have it?

PugJesus , in Hourslong Lines as Voters Surge to Polls in Venezuela’s Pivotal Election

“Maduro wins with 199% of the vote!”

With all seriousness, I hope this turns out like the Chilean 1988 referendum - with the margin of victory too large for the government to sweep under the rug.

MagicShel ,

Exit polling is showing quite a significant loss for Maduro according to another thread I saw a couple minutes ago. I think Maduro got 31% and the opposition over 60%. That would be hard to paper over.

eramseth , in Drag performance resembling Last Supper at Olympic opening ceremony rankles conservatives

Pretty sure when I counted, the numbers were off. Not even 13 people in the supposed last supper shot.

NadiaNadine , in Blood tests for Alzheimer's may be coming to your doctor's office. Here's what to know

Lock down life insurance before getting the test. Maybe also a Long Term Care plan too.

restingboredface , in Blood tests for Alzheimer's may be coming to your doctor's office. Here's what to know

So maybe this is an unpopular opinion but since there isn’t a cure I don’t think I want to know. If I’m not symptomatic why put myself and my family through more time just waiting for it to appear.

cybervseas ,

Save money for treatment and long term care? Set up health insurance and trusts to help the people you care about be okay?

ech ,

I get the sentiment and more or less agree with you, though if there were even a successful treatment to delay or lessen its effects, I’d be down to get going on that early if detected.

restingboredface ,

Oh yeah absolutely. But aside from random studies that all “show promising possibilities for future treatments” right now I don’t know that there’s a good outlook for anyone even if they get diagnosed today.

But if that changed I’d be first in line for the test.

TootSweet , in Oklahoma state superintendent releases guidance on controversial Bible teachings in schools

I’m down as long as it’s presented in a comparative religions kind of way. If the guidelines don’t specifically say not to talk about other religions and/or nonreligious ideologies, make sure to throw in some material on Islam, pagan religions like Wicca, indigenous American religions, Hoodoo, Buddhism, etc.

And, as others have said, don’t just teach what casts Christianity or the Bible (or any of those other religions, for that matter) in a positive light. Talk about the KKK and abortion clinic bombings and the red scare and how bonkers the country went right after 9/11.

JoMiran , in Anatomy of a wave: what makes the Olympic surf break at Teahupo'o unique – and so challenging.
@JoMiran@lemmy.ml avatar

I grew up surfing and when I saw that break on the Olympic telecast, I almost shit my pants. My wife wasn’t getting why I was freaking out until I explained and they layer showed how far out the reef break is, how big the waves get, how sudden and shallow the reef is (0-3" when I saw it) and how if you don’t bail you are literally going to be ground meat. She still didn’t quite get it but I was losing my mind.

Kecessa , in Some condom and lubricant brands contain alarming levels of PFAS – study

Vasectomy and a steady relationship, long term all of humanity’s issues would be solved if everyone practiced that.
