When the headlines are about random maga types being quoted calling her “little whore” and n-words - it’s clear that yeah, the -isms are indeed out and about, the media is just reporting it.
The reality cannot be denied, they aren’t deep faking the clips.

This woman was in no condition to use a gun. I don’t know if she had a health/mental issue, or if she was high as hell, but she was nowhere around coherent. That ex cop deserves everything he’s about to get. They should have requested EMS 60 seconds in to speaking with her.
It’s kinda insane to me that any presidential candidate is pulling in 81 million dollars. Why do they possibly need that much money for campaigning? It seems absurd.
They needn’t be, and even considering that, I can’t fathom justifying 81 million dollars for a presidential campaign. It’s actually unconscionable to me.
America is huge, and the sheer number of media - social media, cable, network TV, streaming, radio, newspaper, magazines, internet, and so on - means that if you want to reach people, a little more money will always reach additional audiences.
From there, it’s just an arm’s race with no upper limit, since each party is desperate to not let the other out-message them.
Lemmy users decry this while almost constantly demonizing all right-wingers as soulless racist misogynists. Anytime I suggest that right wingers might be more complex than a caricature of a 1960s villain, it goes over like a lead balloon.
The rhetoric is exactly as divisive on both sides and leads directly to politicians feeling comfortable calling for a civil war. It all feeds into the frenzy.
