anon6789 , in Trump campaign forced to pay North Carolina city $82k in advance for rally
@anon6789@lemmy.world avatar

the campaign paid in advance due to Asheville’s policy for short-notice bookings

This makes it sound more like coincidence than the city actually doing anything about Trump being a deadbeat.

Not complaining, since that is a fair policy to have, but it doesn’t sound like anyone is “sticking it to him” like the article makes it sound.

While it would be improper to prohibit Trump to speak just because he is crap, if he is a known deadbeat, I don’t know why some of these places don’t pass an amendment to prohibit anyone renting space while they currently have past due fees. If Trump or whoever it may be stiffs the city, it’s the residents picking up that loss, which is unfair to everyone.

ccunning OP ,

I actually put this paragraph in the description of the original post:

While the campaign paid in advance due to Asheville’s policy for short-notice bookings, Trump has a long history of failing to paycities for billed rally fees, leaving the White House in January 2021 with at least $850,000 in unpaid rally debt. Most of the bills are still unpaid, including more than $500,000 owed to the city of El Paso, Texas.

…but I guess the description doesn’t get included in crossposts (at least for some clients).

Not complaining, since that is a fair policy to have, but it doesn’t sound like anyone is “sticking it to him” like the article makes it sound.

I think the article is fair, but the headline is misleading.

Lol my bad, I went right to reading the article without reading the summary and pointed it out because it was tucked into the middle of the full article.

Now that I see it, great job on your part, I’m not used to seeing the important details in the blurb!

FelixCress OP ,

Left—center? 🤦‍♂️

mustbe3to20signs ,

I think this rating is based on the US perception where universal healthcare is communism and MAGA is reasonable.

Aurenkin , (edited )

The justification given in the media bias website is that they are too mean to Trump (I wish I was joking). This particular rating to me was so paper thin and misleading I put in a request to remove the bias rating from the bot entirely.

mustbe3to20signs ,

This can’t be true… Trump didn’t even get the treatment he deserved for him leading an attemped coup. But media is too harsh with poor baby hands Donny?

Aurenkin ,

According to New Statesman’s research, examining the impartiality of the BBC’s reporting shows that they lean right in certain areas, such as business, immigration, and religion.

When it comes to reporting the USA and, in particular, former President Donald Trump, there is a negative tone directed at Trump and his policies.

True, but that also puts AP news left-center.

Treczoks , in Elon Musk draws fire for playing down impact of America’s atomic bombing of Japan: ‘Not as scary as people think’

There is a reason people call them Weird. Anyone who calls the death of hundreds of thousands of people “not as scary as people think” needs their heads examined. And with those two, I would not mind if that would be perfomed in the autopsy department.

Simply flee the country on a private jet or crawl into your billion-dollar bunker and the blast cannot impact you, what’s the problem? It’s only going to kill hundreds of thousands of poors, NBD.

Wait, that’s the old tech… it’s only going to kill millions of poors, NBD.

Investigate the hospital staff as well. This guy kept telling them he had a baggie of fentanyl in him and insisting he needed urgent care, but the nurses and hospital staff kept brushing him off and ignoring his pleas
