In most cases, the American spelling of English words compared to the rest-of-the-world spelling is pretty much a wash. A matter of personal preference.
But “metre” is a hill I will die on. “Metre” and “meter” mean different things, and by spelling them both “meter”, as the Americans do, you’re just making communication worse.
The only time I’ve ever seen it used was practice questions from my thermodynamics textbooks when Imperial units were used (alongside the wonderfully awful to use BTU which doesn’t translate well with anything).
I’ve never seen Rankine actually used anywhere otherwise.
It was a joke actually. In all seriousness I am actually really good with my indicators, especially as I have 2 sons who have either recently got their license or are working towards it. They are more than happy to point out even the slightest error.

Leftist is quite wide of a political side no? Also I’m very sure many Ukrainians have enough bad memories from communism to want to ban it. If we ban nazism because it’s an ideology that caused the death of millions, we should also ban communism.
That’s a false equivalency. Genocide is core to Nazi ideology. And communism didn’t cause the death of millions any more than capitalism caused the deaths of millions. It gets pretty messy when you try and attribute unintentional deaths to an economic system. And frankly, kind of gross when you conflate unintentional deaths with the very deliberate and systematic execution of people.
Attempting to subvert the thought experiment only makes things worse. The trolley is full of child prodigies, all future geniuses that will cure cancer and solve the world’s problems. By sticking the lever halfway you kill all of them. The only way to save the child prodigies is to choose, left or right.
You couldn’t even bother putting in adult scientists that have already helped the world. It’s a hypothetical scenario, you know, you can put in anyone you want. So I’m putting the child prodigies to a test by having the save themselves from the half-lever. Should be relatively easy for them.
